Just booked Southwest to DEN for me and Pops 1/31 - 2/5. $90 round trip, but used points. Not sure we’ll go anywhere, but since I used points it’s fully refundable until last minute. Was gonna book it anyway since it’s LUV and would have had 1 yr from today to use credit if we had to cancel, but having enough points made it a no-brainer.9 points

Circa early 2015 Barb Green decided to have a statue of TP4 made at blue because: 1. TP4 is the best skier on the mountain 2. TP4’s unwavering support of blue has brought them much $ over the past 19 years 3. TP4 is a PASR legend the statue was built overlooking the Honey Bee Bowl. However, when the Pope came to Philly that summer he heard about the statue and requested it be moved to the Vatican Rose Garden, to which Barb obliged. However, as was mentioned earlier, the Pope has sent the statue back to blue to help bring positive winter vibes. It was put back in its original location above Honey Bee Bowl, but the Pope had it moved above Coming Soon because in his words, we will need a miracle for that trail to open.8 points

I know most people probably don't care because it's a snowboard...but I'll be picking up another board from Buckman's this week....Capita Outerspace Living - love my other Capita board that I bought used, but it's getting pretty beat up at this point. Between the pre-season sale and the store credit from the tent sale (should be processed by now), I'll only end up paying about $275 for the board.6 points

Unfortunately by exposing low risk people, we expose high risk people. There isn't a practical way to take one society and strip out all the vulnerable people from it. If we knew that there were no long term effects from COVID like strokes or heart and lung damage or liver damage or mental changes, and we did have a way to identify and isolate every vulnerable person, then that makes sense. It's just not within our abilities. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk4 points

I'm good. Just talked to TCC6, i can go in his 'vette, but thanks for looking out for me. His new one wont be ready for pickup until November, since he ordered it with the ultra limited stripe package, so we are slumming it in his 2018. He said the suction cup ski rack holds most of the time. His GF (eagles cheerleader, BTW) was gonna go, but she figured she should stay at home since all of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will be at his place for the weekend.3 points

I bought an Ikon pass this year. Health care workers got a sweet discount, so I took advantage. Doing a 4 day trip to Sugarbush, then hoping to get a few days at Killington. Not sure about going out west. I have a ton of airline points I haven’t used.2 points

That's not true at all, at least not at Blue. In the middle of busy weekdays and any weekends it's not skiing, it's a torture. Snow's shit, part of the mountain is closed for racing, the rest is overcrowded by front platers because that's the earliest when they can start reaching the slopes. Spring days are terribly slow, sticky and wet. Only by 5pm does it get firm and fast enough for skiing to become enjoyable. Then they groom, and the entire mountain freezes solid overnight, so early morning hours are like skiing on a grater. If it's not spring, but early or midseason when they still blow snow, then night skiing is exquisite, esp. if it's somewhat windy. Guns are roaring, snow is blowing, floodlights amplify the effect, and it becomes like skiing in a blizzard. There are no stupid conversations on the lifts like "beautiful day today, isn't it?", folks go up like ruffled birds, looking grimly at the elements below, self-administering a couple of sips of 80-proof heat from time to time (this ain't some watery crafty pocket beer for sissy days, this is the real stuff), thoughts drowning in the sound of guns and screaming for mercy airpods. IDK what kind of snow days other people have paid for when they were buying their snowpasses, but I definitely was looking more for some of the latter than the former.2 points

Looks like a pretty awesome board. Solid all around hard charger it seems. You'll have to let us know how those struts in there feel once you get it moving.1 point

I'll drive, we can all fit in my Sonic. It's only a 34 hour drive round-trip. @JFskiDan can have shotgun if he buys me a 6 pack of Yoohoo.1 point

If you're looking for perfect conditions all winter, maybe you should be looking to ski somewhere other than PA. I think two of my favorite times to ride are first thing in the morning (which for me is only weekends) and on spring conditions when the snow is soft (obviously not fast, but fun anyway). Blue's grooming can suck, but PA winters don't do them any favors either.1 point

If you look at the sun angle on the cord it looks like there is an obstruction caused by some machinery near the TP4 statue. I don't want to read into it too much, but it looks like they are removing the statue from its current location to place it at the top of the newly named TP4 trail that has been in the works for the last decade. Not trying to stir the pot, but I think that is the hidden message.1 point

I think they are mostly saying that if you like the look of cord you better be there between 8 and 8:80am1 point

I dont think so. But the way cases keep going up, i just cant imagine ski clubs are going to be functioning. We are pretty sure lack of ski clubs will put the kybosh on night skiing. #eaflosinghismind.1 point

QFT. I dislike pointless small talk with strangers on the lift. It's basically the same conversation over and over all season long.0 points

In their Instagram post, the letters R, T, M are the 15th, 24th, and 27th letters. 15+24+27=66. The number 66 has long been associated with the darkness or nighttime. Therefore, there will be night skiing this season.0 points

I'm totally gonna stir the pot here but is there some sort of hidden message about night skiing (or lack thereof) for this upcoming season??0 points
