Applauding their efforts, it was a gamble as everyone knows, but its not looking like a return to snowmaking until monday the 30th. Looks like they will have some good overnight temps to work with, but days might be a little warm. It will be interesting to see if anything sticks around until then. Its reassuring to know that Blue is committed to making this season happen for us.4 points

I'm looking forward to doing nothing on Thanksgiving. I never take off Black Friday (maybe do a half day this Friday) so traveling and having to go to work the next day sucks. On another note, I traveled to NJ Saturday night to fish (drove there, fished, came home - no stops except for gas on the PA turnpike). The authorities/quarantine police have not shown up at my house yet.3 points

So I went on Montage's website to see if they had made any snow when I wasn't paying attention (they did not) and found something interesting when reading their snow report. Covid Safety Measures like Social Distancing in congregating areas (lines, lodge, bathrooms etc) and mask wearing will be in place this season. One major thing playing in our favor is our outdoor space. Additional food and beverage locations are being added outside near the top of the Northface to relax between runs and safely enjoy the post-run fun we all love It'll be interesting to see what they do there. It's been tried in the past to put things at the top of the North Face but it was always very much half assed. The current management seems to be doing things in an aesthetically pleasing way at the very least so it will be interesting to see what comes of this.3 points

Smith whatever fits your helmet/face with ChromaPop storm yellow lens or Oakley whatever fits your helmet/face with Prizm rose, pink, or persimmon lens. I've accumulated like 5 or 6 different lenses for my crowbars over the years, and I use the prizm rose lens probably 90+% of the time. Unless it's a super sunny spring day, or a clear day out west, they block out enough light, and I think they do just as well at night and even better on overcast days than the high intensity yellow lens that was kinda the standard for those conditions for many years. Don't be deceived by light transmission values and see that obviously a clear lens lets through the most light and think it's best for low light days. While some of the color options do technically block out some light, the base color and various laminates or coatings that are used help to enhance certain colors which increases contrast. So while everything may technically be "darker" while wearing something like the prizm rose lens, you can actually make out contours in the snow, ice, etc better. I swear it's not just marketing hype; everyone I know who's looked through a prizm lens has been pretty surprised by the difference it actually makes.2 points

Looking more like 2016 when they didn’t open for real until January 8th with two days in mid December.1 point

I have a 20% any "soft goods/apparel" coupon for Buckman's - valid from December through sometime in January...They gave it to me when I bought my snowboard last month, but I don't think I'll use it. If anyone wants it, let me know. It should be valid on a new jacket, etc. but I don't really need anything.1 point

I was all excited because some friends and I made plans to drive up to Winter Park and just do a mellow tour and test out gear. We knew we were not going to Berthoud Pass since it is always a shit show. But even when we drove by it looked pretty dry. Iced over punchy snow but there were plenty of cars there. When we got to the spot we planned this is what we found. So since a few of us just got new beacons we just did some beacon practice for a while Such a bummer, we really need some snow.
