Headed up to Jones Pass today and arrived about 7:40. My friend and I didn’t carpool since we are not in each other’s immediate bubbles. It was cold at the start but quickly warmed up, sun shining snd no wind. We passed lots of happy smiling faces, everyone just stoked to be out. Skinning up always gives me a reality check on what rotten shape I am in. We just did the road, not the bowl. I put a new setting on my watch for “outdoor sports” not sure why it said I did 10 runs. I did it this afternoon. I saw that blue is opening and I tried on my boots, put sno seal on my gloves and tried on my helmet and goggles with a mask to make sure I don’t have any problems.4 points

It won’t pass the senate and will have to be reintroduced later. It’s something. Pretty fucking sad that non violent drug offenders are sitting in jail some not even convicted of a crime just waiting for court.3 points

The friend I was supposed to come here with today twisted her ankle hiking yesterday. Left at 7 got here at 8:38. Was 16 degrees when I arrived. My first time at Keystone, found the free parking and headed up the Peru lift directly behind that lot. Real empty over there and rode the lift alone. Ended up at the bottom of River Run, looked like more of the main base area. Much busier over there. Lift lines not long but a Covid stuff nobody really knew when to go and liftees not directing. So I went back over to Peru. I didn’t track it but I think I only did 5 runs, skiing tomorrow too so I just wanted to get a handful in. It’s kinda boring skiing by yourself. Just got a breakfast sang since the banana I ate on the way here was not cutting it. After I inhale that guess I am heading out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

You act as if New York doesn't have one of the best mountains on the east coast...one that still includes start houses from when it hosted the winter olympics.2 points

They’re $200. Here’s a pic. im hoping to pick one up on Sunday morning. If you’re somewhere between Philly and Big Boulder, let me know if you want me to pick one up for you. otherwise, message the guy who posted about it to coordinate. for dimensions: Standing up, it’s 100” tall. 44” wide, and is about 32”front to back. You can feet 2 comfortably leaning on the tailgate of a full size pick up with at least a 6 ft bed.2 points

I think it makes good sense. My girls decided they would rather take the safe course and continue schooling from home for now even once hybrid becomes an option. Hard to argue with how well they are doing this way. Between the two of them in Q1 the only mon A grade was one of them got a B in Accelerated Math (Algebra). And of course it makes itbeasier to quarantinenat home between our VT ski trips.1 point

There is a walk mode and a downhill mode. On the uphill I Also have buckles very loose. But I need a boot adjustment. When I tighten them, the highest buckles are way too tight even on the loosest setting.1 point

Is anybody planning on pre booting up at home and walking around a little in boots. I think that’s on the agenda for me this week. My feet never feel that good opening day especially all the standing around waiting for the rope to drop and standing in line. I really overdid it with walking a few weeks ago so wanna make sure my feet are semi ok.1 point

I’m not sure yet but I’ll probably end up welding legs to it for a bench. I’d love to hang it and have it swing like a chair would but that limits me to the basement and nobody ever will see it there. Regardless, I’ll be spending a lot of time cleaning it up.1 point

^ yes. Been intimidated to go to Berthoud because it is so busy and not sure what is what. I just got a guide book specifically for the pass that has all the lines, slope angle, avalanche hazard etc. Hopefully a tour there is in my near future.1 point

Our governor said there would be no lockdowns..also Biden said no national lockdown as well. The only thing preventing us from a decent ski season is Mother Nature.1 point

Salty and Ski2live are fucking insufferable way worse than my squeaky wheel customers. You both need a tall glass of shut the fuck up.1 point

Yeah but PA is not enforcing it. You NJ folks need to calm down. You are welcome in PA..1 point

Salty you won’t have to get tested or quarentine when you return it’s merely a suggestion.1 point

If you are vaccinated, what do you care if others are. @Ski2Live Live2Ski I remember when you went to Japan. That must have been a long flight.1 point

Life is definitely too short to go a season without a trip out west. I’m still salty about missing Colorado last April.1 point

You have to quarantine at home for 14 days to go to VT. Or for 7 days and get a test. Much more relaxed rules than PA has (everyone coming from out of state must be tested). Really not an issue as I am working from home. I last went anywhere the show I played on the 29th so 14 days will be up in 8 days. Might be willing to sign an affidavit whether or not that were the case though. And might also exceed the speed limit while driving there. Do you obey every law to the letter?1 point

Opening dates are always tentative. Who knows if they will make and keep enough snow to do it. But its not a rumor if they post it on their home page. It is an aspiration.1 point

You should set it up so that you can take it over the phone and enter it online.1 point

I think better data point(s) to track are ICU capacity etc. That will determine what the gov does policy wise rather than surrogate data. If pennsy can handle 10k+/day (or whatever #) then all good. If that # maxes health care capacity than that’s what will drive policy in regard to what business are allowed to operate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

What triggers me is when non skiing friends ask me when Blue mountain is opening like it’s fucking Dorney Park..my answer now is not for a long time. I say it’s cold but not cold enough.1 point

yeah we had a good coating of snow - grass, deck, and cars were covered. My daughter was running around playing in it this morning1 point
