Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the upper lot super early a few minutes after 7 and it was a nice view of valley fog and clearing up near the mountain peaks. The temperature was in the low 40s with moderate winds. In the house were Atomic Jeff, BenM, Pops, Enjorales, NMSki, JFBBDan, Mute, Ryan, Johnny Law, Enjorales cousin, Mixilplix, Matt Edge, Zack, TP4, Antman, Rodney, Slim and many others. Third rope drop in a row..feeling like groundhogs day but in a good way as opposed to the previous 270 days. Vista was smooth...midway as well lower Main Street in the fog that rolly Polly stuff..rather not go fast through that I guess that’s like two and a half D snow. Come around was nice and Burma skied about the same as yesterday maybe a little softer in the corners. I definitely was in some dirt...midway turned to thick spring snow fast and lower Main Street remained firm in the fog although I’m sure big push piles by now For season passholders Blue remained like a country club..no liftlines..people buying tickets came later. No race team or employees skiing and limited attendance made the runs uncrowded. I remember opening weekends in the past with 20 minute liftlines today may have been 20 seconds. They still sold a decent amount of tickets but they arrive at 9-10ish for morning tickets and 11:30-12:15 for afternoon sesh. Was fun hanging out in the lot in 50 degree temperatures. Had some beer and chips. The weather forecast couldn’t be better..Even with the limited terrain I need to be a rider if the storm maybe Wednesday PM or even Thursday AM...I wanna ski some nice groomer snow as well..maybe another morning this week... I’m think the valley and six pack will be open next weekend along with tubing. Was a super good opening weekend thanks to a couple semi cold days. I wonder how the skiing was at bear creek, Elk or Canelback? Was Shawnee open? Who cares they aren’t blue.10 points

3 of us headed up to Hidden Valley in RMNP. As usual the wind in the parking lot was insane. It was 15 degrees so the wind made it pretty brutal. We booted up and just as we were putting our packs on a ranger came up and asked me if I could back my car up a bit. I guess the first person in the lot parked a little too far forward and everyone followed suit. But moving my car would not have made a bit of difference so I kindly told her no. Wasn’t about to fish out my keys etc etc. As we started to ascend we realized how bare it was, rocks everywhere. Whatever new snow they got was totally wind scoured. We did not ascend too much when we decided to turn around. I mean it was bad, like 2-3” of snow on rocks. We asked a ranger on the way out if he knew of a place we could just skin on flat ground that actually had snow. So we drove to the gate at Rainbow Curve on Trail Ridge Rd and parked at the gate. Snow looked better. We knew we wouldn’t be descending anything but we drove all the way out there. We started skinning and the wind was calm on that side, which was not too far away from where we were but different aspect I guess. The snow on the road was only a few inches and our pole plants were on asphalt but the skis were on snow. We went until we ran out of snow about a mile in around a curve that the wind picked up again. So we just turned around and went back. Was a bummer not to be able to grab a burger in town since no place has indoor dining right now. But we did hear Berthoud Pass parking lot was full by 7:15 and a total shit show. Today was boner city, nobody around, warm Temps and decent snow. If we can keep the country club for another month it should be a January to remember.5 points

Cheers for a great season for us all! Glad to see Blue open! Got my first runs at Okemo this week. Great snow, though not many trails open. People generally behaving in lines, etc. A little more crowded than I expected mid-week. Got a new schedule where I work two days a week...SA-WEET! WINTER OF SALLYCAT!2 points

I've never been a dog person, but I hope to see Wally a lot this season. He's such a good boy and it was fun watching him attack empty water bottles and Philadelphia Eagles cup sleeves 🐕1 point
