WNEP will be at Montage. I don't think it's in their budget to pay the tolls on the Tpk to drive to Blue.7 points

Pic from top of Paradise taken yesterday. Today was overcast and really cold. We didn’t stay out long, in the single digits. Overall good snow and coverage just wish they had a bit more open. I know it’s just that kind of slow start to the season. Mid December is such a great time to be here before the crowds roll in. Never had to wait for a bus because it was too crowded. They only allow 15 on per bus. Here are my beauties all mounted. I freaking love them! Probably do a snowshoe tomorrow before we head out to tire out my dog for the drive home. I always hate to leave this place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7 points

Just got back from Blue Mountain. The only dumbass MF in the house was me... and maybe half of the state of new jersey. Got a late start because I had to snowblow the driveway, we got maybe 11-12". Pulled into the lot around 10:30 not knowing what would be ahead of me and drove around in fucking circles for maybe 20min. Passed Jim Daily way out in lot near where the overlook trying to sort out parking. Ashley or whatever her name is, the PR lady who has been very present the last few days, is probably in hiding. Finally found a spot maybe 20min later. I don't even know if it was a real spot but yolo. Rope drop area didn't look too bad, passed the vista lift to go down burma - also wasn't anything crazy. Only had to dodge a handful of people on burma so things were looking ok. Got within visible distance of burma chair and knew my day was over. Photo timestamps show about a 20-25 min wait, felt way longer than that. Got on the chair with someone else who didn't care about riding solo. looking from above, there were lots of people poaching stuff, tracks everywhere. Got off the lift, headed to rope drop area and packed up. ... it doesn't end there, in fact, this is probably the wildest part. as I'm leaving, there is a line of cars extending well down into the road coming in and some guy directing. I stopped and eavesdropped. A lady was upset that there was nowhere to park and he said "well some people are leaving, you can keep circling i guess. we are PLOWING OUT THE OVERFLOW LOTS NOW SO JUST CHECK THERE SHORTLY" (emphasis mine). If they don't have the shuttle, are they expecting people to make that hike? I have no idea. I just said wow to myself and rolled out. stopped at the valley (after coming in hot and almost sliding into the little rectangular sign there) for some happier thoughts. Guns still going length of paradise when i left (also upper main i think). If you like BBQ or Pizza, they have food trucks set up. i expect them to not blame it on excess ticket sales, but season passholders instead. might be the episode they needed to institute reservations (conveniently after pushing people to buy season passes). Anyway, what definitely should have been JADIP was anything but. I cannot wait for the valley to be open tomorrow.5 points

I was telling JLaw it must be the new tires I got 4,000 miles ago, cause the Focus was a mother fucking beast the past 24 hours. The roads were still mostly covered for my whole drive up, but the blue mountain hill was the only tough spot. I got lucky that nobody was coming down so I had the whole road to work with...pushed the gas pedal down as far as it could go and somehow made it up5 points

Driving in ski boots probably decreased your gas mileage. Probably burnt enough money to buy a cocoa and a side order of applesauce5 points

If that doesn't work, you can probably find a natural gas weed burner somewhere in a hotel in Allentown5 points

Rode from opening til 11:00. Saw JLaw. Trip to blue only took an extra half hour. Wasn’t too bad lift line wise first hour, second hour was similar to pics posted. They groomed everything out but still nice to ride natural snow. Upper lot full when I left4 points

I've actually seen more than a few videos of long lines of people at drive up food banks and I don't watch cable "news". I saw it for real when I went to drop off a donation to the local food bank last Thursday night. I didn't know it was also a pick-up time. There were a lot of cars in line for food a few minutes before they even opened. It encourages me to make another donation tonight. The $600 is just pandering for votes in the upcoming Senate election. Like most people on this forum, I don't need it. Nor does most of the population. They should give it to the restaurants and other businesses and people who are actually hurting. A large majority of people getting the $600 are just going to stick it in the bank. I'll spend it on businesses hurting and I encourage anyone else who doesn't need it to do the same.3 points

Sugarbush Mon Dec 15 - Stayed at Common Man Inn and Restaurant. Nice place with good restaurant on premises I got take out from, best I could ask for grab and go breakfast and cool waterfalls out back to walk around. Okemo was best of 3 ski days as they had a lot more opened. Again no lines and no prob riding even 6 person bubble loft solo all day. Nothing real challenging (or even to the level of Centerline - the black that was open at Stowe) but a great cruising day - got in over 22k vertical.3 points

So, in reality, just like a typical weekend (i know its not) day after a snow storm. a total shit show 2 hrs in. @Benmgo back in the archives and look at the Saturday of Pres day weekend, like 3 years ago, after it snowed on Friday. Cars were backed up from the Valley, both directions, but the most impressive was the back up going up BMD. They ran out of rental skis and french fries that day. At the same time, i never would have expected quite the shit show on a Thursday.2 points

Wow, what a report. Absolutely bonkers that that many people showed up. Guess that's the power of seeing snow in your own backyard.2 points

I mainly went up just to drive the truck around in snow. Grouse was unplowed so it was great. Got there at 903. Left at 1003. Cars parked past the hang gliding point. Was the worst pow day ever. Was great. Took a run with jlaw. Saw ajeff.2 points

My wife's hospital got 750 doses of the vaccine, but she was not in the first tier because she isn't obese or diabetic. They'll get more next week and perhaps she will get it then.2 points

If someone told me I was going to be sitting on the sixer earlier this year than last year, I'd have had a very good laugh. I can't believe it. I thought waking up to a ton of snow was nice, then I read blues update. That was almost better.2 points
