  1. Best conditions of the year this morning with @AtomicSkierand @Johnny Law Great snow and low crowds made for some speedy laps. People were streaming in as we left.

  5. First day out this season, and as mentioned above conditions were pretty good. A little foggy to start off with, but the sun started trying to come out. Took the second 6 pack up, started with paradise, a couple runs on challenge, then over to lazy Mile and Main Street which were in really good shape. Then back to paradise and challenge, which actually was in better shape than the earlier runs. I think the mountain handled social distancing and mask wearing pretty well, most of my chair lift rides just had two of us on it although I left around 11 when it started getting a little crowded and the started putting 3 on the six pack. Seemed to be mainly groups on the quad, so wasn’t as good as the six pack for a single. First day on my new to me Vokl Deacon 80s, 167 length. Got them from the Loft sale of their demo skis this fall. A little apprehensive since I didn’t try them out before buying them, but I like them a lot. They handled the frozen stuff in the morning and the softer stuff later really well, and were really fast turning and fast edge to edge. A lot more responsive at slower speeds than my Experience 88 180s.

  12. This is what bugs the crap out of me. I know plenty of people who werent real concerned with this being a real thing, werent very cautious, but i am sure will line up for the vaccine. But, in the end, the more people that get vaccinated, the better.

  16. Got home a few hours ago. Today was awesome. Felt like January or Feb up there. Stashes in trees, trails open with natural snow only, western groomer like in other spots, private gondola rides. Really good ski day today. Wanted one or two more runs on Deer Run but the gondola "closed for maintenance" so we bailed. Great day otherwise.

  19. My wife is scheduled to get the vaccine the first week of January and she can’t wait. I’d pay to get it if I could since I’m in contact with people constantly but healthcare workers and at risk people should be before anyone else.

  20. Will gladly trade Covid bucks for vaccine. That should really be an option. I get it that some people are still out of work, or not quite making it, but people going skiing on the weekends are probably not one of those people.

  21. that was a good read. i got a little laugh out of - "Everesting requires a cyclist to ride up and down the same hill until they’ve climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest’s elevation. Despite the absurdity of this challenge, there was a 428% increase in Everesting activities."

  23. Soon enough. I’d love to get it but I’m not high priority and definitely don’t need to jump the line in front of others.

  26. Got up at 7 with the family. Had some laps on Skool Hill then over to Paradise and back. Nice moguls on the top of Midway, Falls, and Challenge. The snow was mostly soft with a couple scrapped spots. Still fun to ride. Liftie at the carpet was an instructor and gave us some tips for the little one. They were helpful and it was much appreciated. Our Edgie Wedgie is supposed to be delivered next week and it’s been tough to hold the pizza and slow down. No lines at the lift but the trails seemed busy.

  36. Some pretty interesting activity data from Strava over the last year, but also in relation to pandemic stuff. https://www.strava.com/yis-community-2020?sf134340189=1&fbclid=IwAR2odPB9vSrocSqmY4NM8zsIitZHou3c4UWO3Z8-chkEj_ZgcLfASwCaFaw

  40. It also bugs the crap out of me that people who used lockdown as an excuse to day drink and get fat pretend like they care about their health. It's really the whole picture that we should focus on: masks + distance + healthy body/immune system + vaccine. If the government can mandate that businesses close, they should fucking mandate that everyone eat their vegetables and get enough sleep.

  41. It’s dumb that anyone in government is being vaccinated ahead of healthcare workers

  42. Same deal with my wife but a week different. She got the questionnaire last week and didn't qualify, but a bunch of other people who shouldn't have qualified fudged answers and got the vaccine last week. My wife was pissed, but all is well since she will get it only a week later.

  44. Well and people were hating on the airlines getting $50 billion or whatever in the spring. As somebody who flies I don’t want the airlines cutting corners and using old planes. Also people suck at math and percentages and decimals and shit. If 3% of people with Covid die that means the survival rate is 97%. They will post that .03% die from it. No move the decimal over two spots to the right as you pass the Dutchie to the left.

  45. People see 900 billion and immediately divide it by the population to get to the argument “we should be getting this much” without realizing it’s not $900 billion dollars of relief to be distributed to every American.
