HUNDSLAPPADRÍFA is an Icelandic word for especially heavy snowfall. It literally means ‘snowflakes as large as dogs’ paws’. I enjoyed the hundslappadrifa today.15 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at dark o’clock and it was cloudy with incoming weather. In the house were Atomic Jeff, jFDan, Slim, Indiggio, Schifdawg, BenM, Toast. enjorales, Pops, NMSki, Enjorales cousin, Falco, Eddie, Charles, TP4, Mixilplix, Antman,LipLipLipLip, Matt edge, Tele Matt and many otherrs While waiting for first chair, big flat flakes starting coming down and continued to fall for a solid hour and a half. Challenge was nicely groomed with an inch of new snow..switchback had tons of freshies but in a few runs for choppy as people churned up the underlying snow. X-info has incredible untracked but the deepest Perd was on widowmaker from the top..also pow off the side of lower sidewinder. It was super nixe skiing dresh snow snow enjoying sausage Sunday. for the month’ish of January, I’ll be in SLC. I sang the Book of Mormon soundtrack on my drive and I googled Mormon underwear. So, I think I’m ready for an immersive experience. I work remotely but hoping to ski the ikon mountains on the weekend and, go touring & explore some of the local parks and trails on weekdays & blackout dates. does anyone have recommendations on the most do- Utah list? (I’ve already done the Red & Blue Iguana) And, will anyone else be in Utah during January or February? I found a super cute Airbnb in the Sugarhouse SLC area. Highly recommend if anyone is thinking of doing the same thing. Here’s the link. There’s a jetted tub and 3 shower heads. Pretty pumped for the post skiing soak. Outside, there’s a fire pit and the neighborhood is very walkable & close to the mountains. And the apartment is a seperate entrance from the main house so it feels more like a mother-in law suite. my pass is blacked out until tomorrow. Most midweek days, I’m hoping to do some uphill at Park City since they allow it from 6pm-8:30am or hit up Brighton for night skiing. My next day reservations are at snowbird for January 7-8 with @Schif. while on my drive from Colorado, through Wyoming, and to Utah.. I was looking at mountains that were near my route. check out this logo of a Wyoming resort. Their history page is quite interesting too. I just can’t pick out my favorite Wyoming flair of it yet. Maybe it’s that their pricing lists out “adults n’ teens”. But also fascinating that you can rent out the mountain for $3k?! Has anyone ever rode the pine? http://www.pinecreekskiresort.com/6 points

Your best bet might be an Epic Day pass for 4-5 days to do PC/Canyons and I think you can do snowbasin on it too? Then add in a day at DV if you’re feeling bougie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Hog wash, go to Alta and ski the High T to gun sight followed by the High T to HighBoy to end the day, then have a beer on the deck. The next day go to Bird and ski the Cirque to elevator then rats nest to hanging bowl on the next lap then go directly to the tram bar and order the local and tell everyone how rad you are. On second thought, stay in PC you’ll love it on that side of the hill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

High traverse at Alta lol. That is not RTM-land. Not trying to gatekeep good skiing, but the locals do not take kindly to people mucking up that traverse. Salty, if you want velvety groomers, DV and PC/Canyons should be top of your list. Brighton has some good groomers in the middle of the mountain but is definitely more the kinda place where it’s super easy to find some fun but “smaller” off trail stuff right off the groomers. Also stuff out the gate off milli is great but know what you’re getting into. It’s out of bounds and you can end up in trouble real quick if you take the wrong turn. Snow basin should also be up on your list. Olympic downhill course from the SLC olympics with an awesome old tin can gondola to get to the top. Wide groomers of varying pitches, good snowmaking where needed, snowbird-lite off piste terrain like JP, middle bow circque, and the strawberry chutes easily accessed from high speed gondolas, and deer valley esque facilities like toast21602 ’s favorite golden toilets. The burgers up top at the JP lodge are some of the best I’ve had with an amazing view, too. Stay in Ogden for cheap, or eden/liberty/Huntsville for closer access to basin and powder mtn. PowMow is fun, but don’t go there to ski the groomers, and if you go there on a day with fresh snow, demo some wider skis. It’s kinda flat, comparatively, so wider skis will allow you to have a much more fun time off trail than the RTMs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Tours off the top of my head when they get snow. Usa bowl Roman's in Wolvey (you can cheat and go from brighton) Bear trap Fork Circle All peak Coalpit headwall Greens basin (stay in the tight trees) Only the coalpit and Roman's are more dangerous, the others are safer tours.1 point

May want to rethink staying in cottonwood heights saltman. If you're sticking to groomers and taking Justos sound advice just stay in park city1 point

I can throw one in the truck. Or 2. The 10x20 pole tent is probably overkill.1 point

I can verify this is the best method of finding the parking row. I know where the row is, and still look for the blue beemer1 point

I’m a Brighton fan boy. Last time I was in Utah though was before the mega passes and I understand things have changed somewhat in terms of crowds and access, then add COVID... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

How often do they groom HighBoy each day? Does HighBoy have the moguls? Should I rent smaller RTMs for that trail? Sometimes I get nervous skiing a groomed trail with moguls on the side and my intense breathing fogs up my goggles.0 points
