Hey All, I’m back from another fun morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 8:25am and the temperature was around freezing under mostly sunny sky’s. The snowmaking cannons were blasting on NMDW, Upper Main Street, Sidewinder and a few random spots. In the house were TP4, Atomic Jeff, BenM, Drew, Bethlehem Ford Guy, ZZSlope, Hayata and many more. I was on fourth civilian six pack due to second behind gate and pole getting caught in the netting..mad Homer Simpson..Doh. I essentially skied the same three runs. Razors three times, challenge twice and switchback three times. All had similar smooth semi hardpack snow..not many cookies at all. Was pretty pleasant skiing overall and with the quad running lift lines were minimal despite a solid amount of people out. Winds were a bit strong early on and diminished. I then hungout in the lot for about 40 minutes, had two quick beers and now time for a little bit of work. Ski everybody this weekend. Gonna be a real nice one.6 points

Because if I have 12 bullets and 24 people to shoot I have a big fucking problem on my hand. Do you remember Somalia ? When they ran out of bullets they got turned into meat puppets. DC is federal which means under the direction of the executive branch (aka trump) All week DOD, national guard all the alphabet soup repeatedly asked if they required assistance and were denied. The capital police established a perimeter but when they came to the conclusion that they either had to start shooting to maintain the perimeter or let them in they did not feel they had the forces necessary and fell back to the secured locations where senators,vp, etc were being kept. When the extremists tried to breach those locations they shot that women in the neck. You can see the guys hands shaking, its one dude with a pistol vs an angry mob. Once you can get swat, who needs time to assemble and probably had members in the mob, the national guard who was for some reason late (trump) then you can retake the building. In that operation arresting people is not the goal as your just trying to clear the building and get them to go home. Its politically speaking unwise to start shooting people who are in their own minds engaging in protest. You make martyrs out of them and increase their numbers and motivation. The whole thing is a bluff were both sides are trying to figure out how far the other is willing to go. If you have to shoot everyone you've already lost so what your trying to do is get them to go home. You can't just round up 1000 national guard dudes on the spot and dc is a mish mash of various jurisdictions and bull shit because its DC. You can determine intent by your own judgment but I think it's reasonable to assume the guy for which they were all their had something to do with the limited response, after all he loves them apparently.5 points

Enjoyable day. Snow was ok. Rotd was paradise, and the cross trail under the six near the bottom. Moguls were freshly seeded were rough at the end.4 points

Totally agree, its tragic that someone had to die for such stupidity. Absolutely nothing was accomplished. I'm not sure if we are talking about the same video but that women and parts of the mob were trying to break into the secure area that had pence. The capital building was designed to be open and transparent and is alot of glass. So when they started breaking though the glass they were repeatedly commanded to back off and when they didn't and that women tried to break through he shot her in the neck. The dude was scared af and I'm sure was amazed he even hit her but still you fuck with the VP I dont care who you are or what your politics are you should expect to get shot. They resisted shooting anyone until the last minute and then you shoot one person and hope the mob relents. Its all shitty business but again its the US capital building and the response is going to be way different than looting a target. The govt is fucked up because the country is fucked up because its people are fucked up because the society is sick. Govt is just people, just like you and me, the separation between the two is convenient but nothing more.4 points

This is exactly what would have happened if Maris corp would have been able to take over Snowy Peaks in the 1990 classic movie Ski Patrol. Luckily the Snowy Peaks ski patrol was able to thwart the evil conglomerate's takeover attempt.3 points

Its actually totally and completely against the law to run any kind of state boarder based enforcement. They haven't specifically gone to the supreme court on this rona issue but it's pretty clear you can't simply pull people over for having out of state plates and fine or detain them. You could likely talk to them and remind them of things like the governors quarantine order and what not but generally they haven't done any enforcement of said orders because if it goes it court they will lose and there goes their ability to threaten entirely.3 points

Skied Valley School East and West with the fam from 530-730 and it was Epic. Hurt the country club vibe seeing the buses but they did bring entertainment. Saw a kid walking with skis on pavement from rentals to the Valley school. Had some kamikaze skiers that kept doing full yard sales for fun. It looked painful and I was asking myself why would you keep doing that? Biggest improvement session for my 4 year old tonight. We have turns and stops but we need to build up her leg muscles and attention span. It’s fun to watch the progression. I’ll be back up tomorrow for a solo lunch session.3 points

Had a great day today. Skied from about 930-230. Snow wasn’t the best, but not the worst, either. Had a delicious tailgate after. Main Street probably ROTD.2 points

Cross trail under the six was a nice escape from the slower snow on homestretch. A mini turbo boost to the base. I also skied Razorback for the first time this skison.2 points

Today as meh. Could tell it was going to turn to sugar, and the wind was out of the north, the least desirable for Blue. At least it was sunny.2 points

I think if the far right and left could get over their irrational fear of each other for a few minutes and actually talk and consider each other’s struggles they’d be surprised by how much common ground they’d find. Unfortunately there are those leaders that prey on those fears and legitimate problems to drive their agenda and it’s rarely in the best interest of the country.2 points

The only way to change things is to get the money out of politics. There was over $800 million spent in just two months on the Georgia senate race. People and mostly corporations aren't "donating" that money out of the kindness of their hearts. It's an investment. And politicians know if the donors don't get a return on that investment, they won't be seeing that investment next election cycle. Pundits don't talk about who has the best the ideas when predicting who is going to win. They always talk about who has the most money.2 points

you make your kids split a hot chocolate and you are criticizing a business for charging people to utilize their services? Volunteers still get free passes.2 points

So you put one steep ass rail up top. Go around the corner with a horribly setup wall ride. Empty space into a banked corner to the right. Small rail section on a 20 degree slant. 2 jumps. Rails. Empty corner to the left. Small jump. Bomb into paradise and hit a 9 year old.1 point

Last few times i have been through, the only hint of construction was like a 2 mile stretch just for a bridge overhead, there wasnt any construction on 476 itself. Up until now i never knew what the mobile construction speed thingys looked like. Never really saw anything that looked like it had a camera attached to it, but i wasnt looking for a car either.1 point

My kids split a hot chocolate so that the break takes 15 min instead of 30. I am criticizing them for making a change that led to staffing issues that prevent them operating on the promised schedule.1 point

I was mostly ready to press after adding the rabbet to the core, I just needed to cut some glass and carbon so I pulled the press out and pressure tested it to make sure I did not have any leaks. I hit about 30 psi and I could hear air leaking so I knew I had some work to do. I used wood to crimp the ends of the fire hose when I built the press mainly because wood is much easier to work with than steel. I guess it was not quite enough, so I put on my big boy pants and started cutting and drilling steel. Original crimp to close off the fire hose. The way it should have been done originally. So, I had some plans do uphill at Park City but I’m not good with plans. I am GREAT at loosing things. in 2020, I left behind (err lost) my Garmin forerunner 235, AirPods, and Nintendo Switch. RIP electronics. In like 2015, I dropped my car key in the sewer and fortunately my brother went in to get it. Just in case, I brought my spare key on this trip. it’s 2021 and I guess I haven’t changed much. turns out, I also left one of my skis in the Brighton parking lot. So, I made the trek back to Brighton to retrieve it, which affected my original ski plan 🙈 Instead ... i dusted off my atomic skis and did some ski touring in the Wasatch on Mill D to Dog Lake. I parked in the Spruces lot and crossed the road. I found the spot through a Facebook group and downloaded the Wasatch Backcountry Skiing map that was highly recommended by my BC friends. i haven’t toured since at least 2018-19 and I haven’t really worked out since Christmas. It was exhausting. I blame it on the altitude. Pretty cool that they have a spot to check your beacon though. I really used the opportunity to take a photo (aka, catch my breath). I thought. Oh wait. I should snap a photo of my skis as I sang Kelly Clarkson, “Catching my breath, letting it go / Turning my cheek for the sake of this snow...” I think approx 1/4 mile in, you bear left. You’re basically ski touring on a road near houses. eventually the houses stop and there’s a gate. You go left and the skin track narrows a bit. I passed a few people. There’s a guy on the distance in the photo below. This is looking down to the beginning part of the trail. the sun started to set and I needed to pick up Wally from dog daycare by 7. No idea of the distance because the “Nordic skiing” function on my Apple Watch doesn’t track distance or elevation. (Miss ya garmin forerunner! I hope you’re in a better place) After of like 45 minutes of touring, I stripped the skins and turned around. It was great to get out and switch up my after work routine. Then, I headed back into SLC to get Wally and my GPS somehow (....) directed me to the Liquor Store instead. I was like damnnn beer is cheap. $2.15. Turns out, it’s $2.15 PER beer.. they definitely have beer laws despite no law claws. Then I saw these ones and I just couldn’t 😂 Made it this far? Hope you’re not asleep like Wally..1 point
