Maybe one day, but for now I think Ill stick with the stability of being an engineer It was much easier to do the second pair compared to the first. Im not sure if it is just a confidence thing that I know kind of what to expect and or do next or that I actually learned something from pair 1. The first pair I just used what I had tool wise as well, kinda rushed through them to get them ready for my trip and cut some corners. For the second pair I bought a new router, and its been a game changer, potentially the best $200 Ive spent on this project. Along with that I have been making better jigs and fixtures. The router table that I threw together for this pair has also been a huge help and something I will use a lot moving forward. At this point if I had 8 hours in the garage/basement to continuously work on a pair I think I could have them in the press at the end of the 8 hours. I know Justo wants a pair, so as soon as covid is over Ill have him over for a weekend and start on Saturday morning and hopefully he will have a pair of skis to go home with him on Sunday night.10 points

Day 4 - Skiincy & Schif go ski touring 4 miles 3 hours Guardsman Pass: https://wbsguide.com/2227.php Schif & I woke up with plans to hit up Brighton today. Solitude yesterday was fun. It was a bounce house of bumps. We noticed that Brighton had the Great Western Express closed and we were feeling meh about it. We considered checking out Solitude Nordic center but ultimately @Schif rented a touring setup from White Pine Touring. Considering the avy danger was still moderate to high, someone died the day before, and the snow cover was thin in places, we opted for something safe and mellow to mostly stretch our legs & grab some views. This pic is looking down to the Ruby Express at DV. We drove through Deer Valley and started at the mid-mountain trailhead. We passed through the seven levels of the Deer Valley forest, through the sea of swirly-twirly switch backs, and then we toured through an underpass of a DV trail. Or, in other words... We ended up skinning under Ruby Express. About 1/2 mile in, we went through an underpass and Bandana trail was above us. Hereās a screenshot of the Deer Valley map. We were in the orange shading for the first 1/3 of the tour. We made it a mile in and adjusted our boots, quick bathroom break, and checked out the view. The sign pointed out Mt Timpanogos that Cody Townsend did in the fifty project. His tour was WAY more wild than our initial outing... to say the least. Haha. Here are some of the views near the Church of Dirt on Guardsman Pass. Mt Timpanogos is in the background. More views š We went out another mile to a Nordic center then turned around. We kept our skins on for mile 2-3 because it was still relatively flat and uphill. We toured 3 miles somehow and went downhill 1 mile. The views were incredible and it was nice to work the lungs & legs. Probably the place I felt least safe was when Mike put on the Atomics boots and when the other cars were trying to park. @Schif can add color to the boot story. Thanks to our watches that told us āthis was harder than your normal effect.ā Oh really? Working out at elevation is no joke. Views: 9.5/10 Fun: 9/10 Ability to breath: 3/10 After the touring, we hit up the Alf Engen ski museum where we checked out the ski jumps, the bobsled tracks, and learned about ski fashion. PASR people, who is best dressed here? Headed back to SLC and went out for the Schif's last night in SLC. We passed something super creepy so obviously had to share. We put our name in at Red Iguana 2 and grabbed a beer from Bewilder Brewing Company. Schif had the Coffee Kolsch and I had the Cranberry Lime Sour. Got some enchilladas from the Iguana and headed back to the airbnb to pack.9 points

Back from another morning at Blue the True Mountain.... Wait, thatās GSSās line. Reserved a JF $40 senior ticket last night. Just back from Jack Frost. Sunny morning, high teens, no wind at all. Parked slope side, got my RFID card that can be reloaded online. Got my gear on and walked 50 feet to the top of Thunderbolt to wait for 9:00. Nicely groomed soft cord on top of firmly packed powder. Spent the morning lapping Thunderbolt and Challenge, doing nice high angle GS turns. Had a lot of fun. Only a couple of runs I couldnāt ski right on to the lift. Maybe a half dozen people on the slope until 10, mostly blue coats, when some small groups started. Everyone masked. Some rollers on Thunderbolt as usual that could give a little air time, but Challenge had nice smoothly rolling terrain. Lifties were nice. Looks like East mountain is ready to go. The crossovers, top and bottom, are groomed and ready. The first drop of Challenge glade is rocky, but the rest seems to be covered, but I skipped it today. Left around 11, 16 runs! with the conditions as good as when I started.8 points

Touring was fantastic and I can't wait to do it again. The only issue was those damn Atomic boots. As soon as I put them on at the trailhead I knew they were hurting my feet but after dealing with the guy at the shop that took way too long getting the bindings set up I just said screw it and pulled the footbeds out and headed up the hill. That was a mistake honestly. Almost any time I had to stop and take a break it was because my feet were hurting and not that my legs were tired. I said some truly awful things while trying to pull those damn boots off at the end. All in all though it was fantastic day and I love exploring on skis even though it kind of sucked. Views always look better when you earn them.8 points

Hey All, Iām back from another mad steezy section at Blue mountain the true mountain. Itās 112..so people might wonder where the party at?? Well the party wasnāt in room 112 where the players dwell but at Blue mountain the true mountain. The snowmaking cannons were pumping out my favorite drug..pure and white..sneaux.. I arrived at the lower lot at 8:27am and it was in the low 20s under sunny skyās. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Shadows and Bethlehem Ford guy. Just the quad open off the bat with snowmaking blasting on Razors, nightmare, Dream Weaver and a few random spots. There were a decent amount of people in the house but not as many as last Tuesday. First run on challenge Snow was really nice groomers left some ridges..Sidewinder had good snow and no people but the Root rollers on the last pitch were pretty close together which interrupted the flow for about 8 seconds. Next on tap was Main Street which had very nice snow too to bottom..especially the top and lower left..smooth cord. After a few runs in the guns on the quad atomic jeff signaled to go to the Main Street chair and we stayed there the rest of the session hitting Widowmaker to midway which was very nice and switchback which was like a Stevie wonder song..smooth and Blinde..if I was looking for a part time Lover it might be Switchback cause that run has been grate. A few more main streets..a couple beers and back here in dirty south Whitehall for some work. All in all fun skiing. Iāll likely be out for opening tomorrow and Thursday AM. Also they open at 8am on Monday for MLK day...JADIP7 points

Work meetings meant i couldn't do opening so I figured afternoon session. Sun was shining and the Temp was super comfy. Snow was a dusting over absolute boiler plate which made for super fun shit snow skiing. Big ass full width root roller on homestretch is a nice touch though I like the lumpiness on sidewinder. Upper lot sucks, why be butts to nut just to get first tracks on Vista6 points

I recommend getting a hot'n'ready from lil caesar's on university boulevard. Pretty much the finest pizza you can have while on a ski trip. Pairs well with a game of 7 11 doubles, some captain morgan and sleeping on the floor the night before a pow day.4 points

Again, wtf is it gonna take for you to hook a brother up? Couple Stone IPA's? Wash your car? Reach around?4 points

If you are getting it through LVH maybe I'll be lucky enough to give it to you. I signed up to help them organize and to run vaccination clinics for the next few months and help with the community vaccine roll out throughout the LV. I volunteered initially to run some surge COVID units, but luckily we never needed that extra capacity. Because I have only had limited time on the clinical unit during the last few months felt almost guilty as a nurse for not doing enough during this pandemic, so vaccinating the greater community to help try and turn the corner with this pandemic is the least I could do. I'm really looking forward to it.4 points

Anyone can be an expert at getting around there. There are 3 roads out of the city that go to mountains. Pick one and go ski.2 points

SLC is shockingly easy. Just go for it and follow the snow if there's any. Keeping the plan flexible definitely helped me last week.2 points

So here's what I'm thinking. I'll have 6 ski days: 2 days at Park City (or Deer Valley) 2 days at Brighton (or Solitude) 2 days at Snowbasin (or Powder Mountain) Sound legit?? I know people on here will say to skip PC, but I'd like to ski the largest resort in the USA and also stay near the town for a few days. I could always do DV as well.2 points

Lake Harmony area in general was a resort community going back to the 40s. It predates BB being a lightweight relative to what skiers want now. The condos are mostly newer, but it still follows from that earlier development. It's hard to just pack up and leave when the whole place has like 80 years of inertia behind it.2 points

Out of the press after a bunch of hours, I had the top sheet on this pair printed even though it is quite boring per my wife. I told her she can put anything on the next pair, hoping for some rocket ships. Top sheet right out of the press Bases right out of the press Next step is cutting out the individual skis, pretty much run the jig saw along the edge, just donāt cut the edge. The base is the only thing in the lay up that is the finish shape of the ski, so that is used for cutting the ski to shape. Cutting out the shape The final step before mounting and a tune is to bevel the sidewalls, I used the home made router table from a few posts ago with a bottom bearing 7 degree bevel bit. This puts a nice taper on the side walls and helps keep the top sheet from chipping while skiing. Final shape, I wanted to weigh them but I forgot before I put bindings on them. Finished [emoji736] They are mounted and tuned with one day on them so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

My family bought a place in split rock in 1972. They and many others spent the summers there. The cottage owners association was 90 percent second home owners from NJ, the Philly and NY suburbs. The wife and kids would spend the entire summer there and the men would come up after work on Fridays and spend the weekend. Tennis was a huge part of it. The courts were busy 7 days a week from 8-11. Then everyone would meet after lunch at the lake. Everyone drove golf carts and socialized every Saturday night. By the 90s that scene started to fizzle out and in 2002 my family sold, mainly because it just wasnāt the same in the summer. Iāve always been told that the lake harmony area is busier in the summer.1 point

Ok. I will consider doing it in this order: Park City, Deer Valley, Brighton, Solitude, Snowbasin, and Perder Mountain.1 point
