In continuing the EPIC theme from last weekend, I stopped at Roundtop on my way home from a work trip to DC. Figured it was only a few minutes off of 15, I might as well make some turns as I’ve never been there before. Arrived at 4:30ish, got a spot next to the lift and enjoyed some beautiful conditions. Snow was extremely grippy. Lift lines were nonexistent. Lighting wasn’t nearly as good as Blues. I skied for an hour, am currently enjoying a beer, and enjoying the beautiful evening.12 points

Two of the liftees this morning on the six pack were asking people to pull their masks up..7 points

So as I mentioned earlier I think I will eventually have some delam issues with this pair. The first pair I used way to much epoxy, so I wanted to cut back on this pair but I think I went a little to thin. While cutting the tip on one ski I found a soft spot that needed some additional work. After the ski was cut and finished I opened up the soft spot, poured some epoxy in and clamped it over night. After the fix it looks better but is still not perfect. Overall I’m pretty happy with this pair, as mentioned I learned a few more things to take into the next pair. The shape felt pretty good overall, perhaps the mount point could be moved around a bit. For what I was going for they are also a bit soft in the tip and tail so I will add some core thickness to the next pair. With everything else remaining constant and only a core thickness change it will be fun to ski the two skis back to back. Overall I’ll count it as a success and I’ll count pair 1 as a fail. On to the next pair! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 820am and it was 33 degrees out under mostly cloudy sky’s with snowguns still blasting on Razors edge, tubing and a few random spots. In the house was BenM, ZZSlope, Charles, Enjorales cousin and Rodney’s crew. First civilian six pack. Challenge had very nice snow. A bit uneven grooming so pretty normal. I skied challenge a second time then Main Street which was a soft cord carpet on the top and pretty smooth lower down. Switchback was also very nice. Paradise was nice but crowded and lazy mile was nice as well. With both the quad and six pack running there were no real liftlines beyond maybe 10-15 chairs and I managed 9 runs by 10:25am. All in all a very pleasant morning with nice snow conditions and comfortable temperatures at Blue the true..ski some of you tomorrow AM.6 points

After work tonight, I visited Ensign Peak. If you land in SLC and want to do some trail running with a view, this spot is easy to get to. It’s almost directly behind the Capital Building. signage for Hell’s Canyon and Ensign Peak view from the statue area and more views On the way back down And back towards the start5 points

Go to PowMow and ski the dam place, I think you will really enjoy it. Youre not an idiot, you cant get lost lifts to up, its a ski area, if you get lost or go out of bounds un-knowingly youre fucking dumb. PowMow has some of the most fun mellow wide open tree skiing Ive ever done, and its easy to get to. Make sure whatever car you rent is 4x4 or AWD with proper tires or you will not make it up the canyons if the traction law is in effect. They will turn you around, or just plan on taking the bus.4 points

Yup, winding groomer off of hidden lake quad that you can easily dip into the trees for as little or as much as you like is fun. There's obviously plenty more than that, but that's about the easiest access to mellow tree skiing with an easy bailout that I can remember skiing anywhere. Also re: cars. In the past, I've always stopped at wally world or it's canadian equivalent when traveling and bought a set up tire chains or cables to keep in the car just in case. Had to use them a few times, and if you have to use them, then it's money well spent. If you don't need them, return them on the last day of your trip, no money wasted. A set of cables helped us make it up LCC on a 10" day one year, which might have been the scariest drive of my life. If i remember correctly, @toast21602 wore his helmet in the car while I was driving.3 points

This is 100% true. It makes your feel like a bad ass skier without actually being one. Myself included.3 points

My family bought a place in split rock in 1972. They and many others spent the summers there. The cottage owners association was 90 percent second home owners from NJ, the Philly and NY suburbs. The wife and kids would spend the entire summer there and the men would come up after work on Fridays and spend the weekend. Tennis was a huge part of it. The courts were busy 7 days a week from 8-11. Then everyone would meet after lunch at the lake. Everyone drove golf carts and socialized every Saturday night. By the 90s that scene started to fizzle out and in 2002 my family sold, mainly because it just wasn’t the same in the summer. I’ve always been told that the lake harmony area is busier in the summer.3 points

Salty we'll have competing threads that week. Care to make it interesting? If I get more likes you need to sell your RTMs. If you get more likes you need to sell your RTMs. Deal?2 points

Correct. There's a park & ride at the bottom of the canyons. I've also taken SLC public transit from wherever @GSSucks dropped me off when he had to work and couldn't ski with us that day. Ended up taking about an hour total to get to brighton from his house, including the bus ride, when driving would have taken maybe 40-45 minutes? It really didn't take much longer at all, as the stops are very minimal. Not having to deal with parking at the resort is pretty nice, too. Totally get your concerns about taking the bus during Covid times though.2 points

I think you just drive to the start of the canyon, park at a specific park and ride, and the bus picks you up there and takes you directly to the resorts.2 points

This is all true. All occupants of the minivan also promised to not fart for the duration of the ride so windows did not fog up. A surprising success for all involved.2 points

I've been watching this. A little movement with the buoy right now. Will definitely know more as the day goes on. If there is a pop in the next 24 hours it will be something to watch closer.2 points

Is being stuck at the bottom of hidden lake the same as being lost? It is very easy to just keep ending up at the hidden lake quad if you don’t know your way around there. Looks like they’ve added a few lifts since I was there last. Looks way too easy to get the goods now. Get off my lawn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

He's 30 years old. If he can't get around a ski area with a trail map then maybe skiing out west isn't for him.2 points

Very good friend of mine just got discharged from the hospital today. Got covid...has no idea where or how. Been playing it safe. Told me today to keep taking it seriously...says it's no joke and was scary stuff. I'm just glad he's ok.2 points

So here's what I'm thinking. I'll have 6 ski days: 2 days at Park City (or Deer Valley) 2 days at Brighton (or Solitude) 2 days at Snowbasin (or Powder Mountain) Sound legit?? I know people on here will say to skip PC, but I'd like to ski the largest resort in the USA and also stay near the town for a few days. I could always do DV as well.2 points

Nice, on my first day my flight lands at SLC around noon so I may very well hike up this trail.1 point

Was up 530-730 on Valley School with the fam. Lines at the 6 looked deep all night. I don’t know if it’s a weekday night thing but as Law said, mask wearing was poor, especially at the learning hill. Lifties and instructors didn’t say a word [emoji1304] Snow was decent and my whirlybirds are improving. I’m guessing they were able to get that groomer out because I saw a couple running on Razors when we were in the lot.1 point

Nice. I have about an hour of skiing that I can squeeze in. Haven't ridden with you since for weeks!1 point

Back from another morning at Blue the True Mountain.... Wait, that’s GSS’s line. Reserved a JF $40 senior ticket last night. Just back from Jack Frost. Sunny morning, high teens, no wind at all. Parked slope side, got my RFID card that can be reloaded online. Got my gear on and walked 50 feet to the top of Thunderbolt to wait for 9:00. Nicely groomed soft cord on top of firmly packed powder. Spent the morning lapping Thunderbolt and Challenge, doing nice high angle GS turns. Had a lot of fun. Only a couple of runs I couldn’t ski right on to the lift. Maybe a half dozen people on the slope until 10, mostly blue coats, when some small groups started. Everyone masked. Some rollers on Thunderbolt as usual that could give a little air time, but Challenge had nice smoothly rolling terrain. Lifties were nice. Looks like East mountain is ready to go. The crossovers, top and bottom, are groomed and ready. The first drop of Challenge glade is rocky, but the rest seems to be covered, but I skipped it today. Left around 11, 16 runs! with the conditions as good as when I started.1 point

Their grooming and snow was always better than any other poconos mountain(Elk not included because it is in VT)...,, this kept me alternating season passes between JFBB and Montage even though I lived 10 minutes from Montage/Sno.1 point

I rode from 330 to about 6, snow was super fast night skiing stuff but way better grip than yesterday. Falls is still interesting with some bigger holes. The winch cat appeared to be broken down on the side of challenge as they had 3 cats trying to pull it out. Lift lines got wild around 430 and tons of dick tippers/ no mask at all. I'm not a rule stickler by default but 200 people butts to nuts with no line person half of which arent wearing any mask is asking for trouble1 point
