  1. Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 720am and it as 33 degreees under overcast sky’s with a strong west wind. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, Mixilplix, MBike Mike, NMSki, Mrs. Snowbunski, Indiggio, BenM, JFDan, Matt Edge, Zack, Toast, Justo, KevinThomas, Tele Matt, Enjorales, Pops, Bethlehem ford Guy, west Chester homeys,’Schifdawg, Antman, TP4 and many others. The lineup for first chair at 8am was massive..probably 150 people..I skied challenge first and it wasn’t that good..firmish, not that smooth and the snow was falling apart fast. Upper Main Street was slightly better and lower Main Street was rough. Paradise was pretty bad sandy crud and lazy mile was alright. My favorite run was tuts lane to connector to lower widowmaker to midway to little gap to yeti to Burma to shuttle to lower park. It was sausage Sunday and Enjorales said it would be a pretty low key SS today so there was just multiple kinds of sausage, pork loin, steak, burger sliders and Thai sliders and grilledsteeze..the lot was cold even though it was almost 40 degrees out the wind was brisk and the clouds were thick. All in all despite less than optimal ski conditions it was a fun day..JADIP

  2. It’s a black out weekend for my pass so I’m trying to find some trails to ski tour in. Yesterday, I drove a whopping 15 minutes to Millcreek Canyon. I did about 3.5 miles. Here’s a link with the basic information. https://wbsguide.com/1003.php I had Wally with me so I had to stop to talk to random people who wanted to pet him and it was frustrating to wrangle him since it was his first time skiing. He’s not ready for Burma Road yet.. Lots of signage always helps. and more signs I had Wallys 6 foot leash snapped around the bottom belt of my backpack. It worked out well. He mostly stayed to the top right of me. On the downhill, I mostly had him off leash to let him run. Although, the official rule of on-leash on even and off on odd days seemed to be a loose rule there. Crossed a cute bridge. Lots of family and engagement photos were being taken in this area. this is the start of the trail at the Maple Grove winter gate. When I came back, there were kids sledding on the left hand side of this pick. But, for the most part there were people ski touring on setups like mine and walking with crampons or snowshoes. We went up to Elbows Fork then turned around. This place had more signs than all of Snowbird. and we’re off! Wally did pretty well although he ended up with a small knick near his paw. He’ll be fine. and we’re back at the parking lot. He was checking out the ski bros in the area. all in all, it was good workout and safe ski tour. Since I don’t have a backcountry partner here, I’ve been sticking to the mellow trails like this one.

  5. Skied whiteface last weekend for the first time - super cool east coast mountain. Great snow coverage. Mountain was not 100% open but the trails were well maintained and little to no ice. Also tried skinning Sunday morning which was super awesome. Hard but well worth it. In case you make plans to visit Lake Placid or Whiteface - my brother and sister in law own a house 10 min driving distance to mountain and 20 min drive to Lake Placid. Nice cabin feel and pet friendly : Link to VRBO

  6. Edit if other PASRs were interested in that cabin I could be down. Was gonna post up in the fall to see of anyone was interested but the whole worldwide pandemic, travel restrictions thing had me thinking that probably wasn't a good idea.

  9. Strongly considering Whiteface 2/10 through 2/12 - Wed, Thurs, & Friday. Cobble Mountain Lodge is available @RidgeRacer. Just need to submit a vacation request for work and I think I'ma book it soon. That cabin Zonked posted looks badass. With 3 people splitting the cost it would be very affordable.

  11. Truly Epic conditions. 18" of snow had fallen from Fri night to Sun AM with at least 6" of that Sat night - it would have been too much work to dig my car out so I took a shuttle bus. Continued snowing all day adding I would estimate another 4" on top of that. Every significant trail was open. Wind holds on the 2 main TTB lifts made for bad lines on the other lifts from the base - so we waited in that line once then stayed upper mountain all day til last run we did again from base (as upper lifts had closed). Got 13 runs in with fresh, deep, soft ungroomed snow on every one.

  16. After work tonight, I visited Ensign Peak. If you land in SLC and want to do some trail running with a view, this spot is easy to get to. It’s almost directly behind the Capital Building. signage for Hell’s Canyon and Ensign Peak view from the statue area and more views On the way back down And back towards the start

  17. Oops. Here are a few Solitude pics that I found in the Google photo album. They’re not great but hope they help show the coverage. possibly Main Street ? a skiincy skiing photo the Wasatch range 😍 We had some of our favorite runs from here. possibly from Summit Express? and from the parking lot. The amount of clean cars in Utah is absurd, by the way.
