  1. Heading to Crested Butte tomorrow. My gear pile is nice and manageable. Usually I am packing for multiple sports but this time just focusing on skiing. Debated on bringing my touring setup but backcountry snow conditions are still iffy and I will be solo most of the time. Gonna be gone 3 weeks with a detour to Telluride. Reports to follow. 2. I rode from 12 to 2, super windy but all the sun made it warm. Super choppy, the bottom of side i was 70% of the way to flavor country and had my first real solid recovery of the year. Razors was the best as it was good chop where you can make a 100 high-speed little airs and keep on trucking. Most of the snow they were blowing on the challenge headwall is ending up at the Cherryville car wash, heavy wind straight up the trail.

  3. Loaded up my pass with another ticket, parked slope side, got the boots on, and started off on Thunderbolt. Slopes nicely groomed, with 2” freshies on top. Had to head over to the E Mtn lift since it looks like they stopped running Challenge lift weekdays. Rivershot and Floyd’s were nice, but a little slow with the new stuff on top. RedCoats roped off Elevator, I guess they don’t want anyone thinking it is covered and going down it. The bottom of Rivershot can get a little ragged, but it was perfect today. Trail intersection at the top of Floyd’s bottom of Solitude was a little bumpy. Demattes was a little rough, and they had Exhibition closed, blowing snow to fill in the left side. Hard to build up a nice rhythm with the head walls on East Mountain, so I spent most of the morning on challenge. Challenge was pretty quiet since most people stayed on East Mountain or skied the West area of the mountain. One Park looked ok. Had to skate from E Mtn to reach TBolt, so only did that a couple of times. Challenge glade too thin. Patch on my bases held up pretty well, have to see how it holds up on ice. 25°, a little wind, cloudy and flurries to start off with but then it cleared up being partly sunny. Drove up to Frost listening to the dumpster fire moving back down to Florida, and drove back home listening to the new president.

  4. I wouldn't call trail conditions great today. Sugar formed way too soon on most of the trails, lower Lazy turned into a complete shit by noon, though the upper one stayed probably the best on the whole mountain. Two trails closed for snowmaking: Challenge and Switchback. Low crowds, great skiing, but best part was the Epic weather! While people in Utah whine and moan about getting core shots on the rocks instead of the promised champagne, while some skis there get 5 years older after spending just a single day on the slopes, at Blue it's dumping! I could hardly find my way down once and was really sorry I didn't hire a guide!

  10. No PASR in the history of this site has ascended to stardom faster than Salty. Salty won PASR Rookie of the Year and then was in PASR MVP contention his 2nd year in the league, which is extremely impressive and unprecedented. Instead of enjoying the history we are witnessing, people want to act salty (no pun intended) and throw shade

  11. Happy to report everything fixed! We had to move a bunch of stuff, clean up a bit. Problem was outside. BCSWA came out pretty quickly. Got the area plunged with their super plunger. I was having nightmare visions of pipes being dug up, etc. They said if it happens again, they’ll have to snake it out to the street.

  12. I think we're getting off the rails. I say we focus on elk first because I really want to see@GrilledSteezeSandwich ski there...shit would be historic; and at least narrow it down to first week in Feb. Fill out toasts calendar thingy above and whichever day most people can make is the day we choose. Good?

  14. Got there for the 9AM rope drop. Conditions were good not great. Challenge was the run of the day, nice from top to bottom. Sidewinder was also great. Razors was nice on top and better on the bottom than last week. Lazy Mile and Main Street were a little disappointing, a little sugary and a little scraped when I hit them about 10. Got a pretty good gouge somewhere. Have to do some base repair tonight. Left around 10:30.

  18. Vail was one of the big firsts to try it and in Eurp they went pretty hard at it as they need some of the snow cover to keep glaciers in tact. The problem is it doesn't work, one you can't make it snow if its not already going to snow, at best you can make smaller storms bigger. Two storms and snow can go any which way, blue is small but we've all seen it snow a foot on MacArthur road and have 3 inches at blue now imagine something like that but with say the alps. Three its expensive and with little off the shelf technology whereas conventional snow making is the opposite. The magic would be conventional snow making but way higher up in the air with smaller water particles and nucleotides then you could get that up and down movement and make snowflakes rather than rods which skis infinitely better. I've always wondered how high you'd have to go, part of me says 500ft would probably make a difference but part says not. Pipe dreams anyways as it would be way too expensive for something that most people don't care at all about.

  19. You know, at the end of the year we can give out awards, kind of like the Dundies, but instead of trophies they are beers and instead of saying anything about it we just drink the beers in the parking lot.

  41. Just throwing this out there, if PASR days are really a thing again and Mondays are on the table Montage does a great deal on Mondays. $40 all day ticket and free rentals (if bringing someone or you just want to try a snowboard or something)

  42. Whatever you guys decide, I'll try to make it. Not really a certain day of the week that's better or worse for me, just depends on work. I'd suggest any day other than Monday, but that's only because I want to try to work in a stop at Breaker Brewing and they're closed Mondays.
