  2. First off, Doug, this is the Crested Butte thread. I don’t want to hear about Jackson Hole here. On to the snow....crowds were non existent as is usual for a non holiday weekday here. My first run as I was traversing over to Paradise Lift, I got into my head a bit and realized these were the exact conditions when I fell last season and got my concussion. On the head wall where I fell I was very cautious, bad energy. did 3 laps on Paradise and the snow was great! Took a different way down each time and was able to find some bumps on every run. By the third lap fog had rolled in and visibility was pea soup so I headed down to East River lift. First run was on Black Eagle and 1/2 way down there were some big bumps to navigate but they were nice and soft so it wasn’t too bad. Did a few more over there and headed back past the Paradise Lift to the Teocalli. Wanted to hit Buschwack as it wasn’t opens last time I was here. The bumps there are good size for me to practice on. Did 2 laps on that and headed back to the front side doing a bit of light trees where I could find them. Should snow all day through tonight. Have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a shit show.

  3. 21 degrees and feels so warm I regret my mid layer. 10 min to lifts opening. 2 guys in the shuttle had no masks and were getting there stink eye from every single person. WTF do certain people think they are special and don’t have to follow the rules? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. It still hasn’t snowed (yet), so after work last night, I went for a ski tour up Park City again. Hoping to do it 1-2 more times before I leave on Jan 31. instead of walking in by the ice skating rink & starting at Pig Pen Saloon, I parked by First Time Lift. I was one of the first cars but about 10-15 others cars pulled in by 6. I showed up around 5:45 ... chatted with people in the lot and let Wally run around in the snow. There was a good amount of people going up. I thought, oh look - Park City left the lights on for us. But nope. The trail to go up is to the right of the lights. Last time, I went up Treasure Hallow (blue). This time, I followed the crowd up Homerun. It was about 1/4 mile longer. (2.25 vs 2 miles up) My average pace was slightly faster but holy cow - there are so many fit people .. young & old .. in Utah. Still have lots of work to do. Since I went up Homerun, I came down Treasure Hallow. My Apple Watch accidentally stopped on the way down but this gives the general route. It was easy to keep the distance but you can see the crowd of people behind me in this pic.

  7. Kiosks are super easy. Stick the barcode in and an RFID card pops out. Transaction should take 5 seconds. Saw the exact same machines at Solitude. These will definitely be the way to go for a lot of resorts and I'll assume many other ticketed places going forward.

  8. On Wednesday, I did a 1/2 day of skiing at Alta. I did some work but my work projects were on hold & waiting for someone else to complete things - so I popped over to Alta for about 3-4 hours and skied about 17k (although my Apple Watch/strava and Ilon tracker differs slightly) 🤷🏼‍♀️ As I was driving up Little Cottonwood Canyon, there were multiple helicopters. Last time I saw that many helicopters, my local target was being looted. Don’t know what was happening though. as I drove up and passed Hell’s Gate Condos (after snowbird), I got pulled over for speeding. I was asked if I was a lecture or ticket. So that was cool. So for anyone planning to visit Alta, be mindful of the cop that sits at the Hells Gate. Supposedly he does it all the time according to someone I chatted with at Alta. But FYI - we need more snow. this is coming off of the Collins Lift and heading to Sugarloaf lift and Devils Way run. It looks recently groomed. Few bumps. Packed powder. Great day to be out. This pic is going up Sugarloaf lift and looking at runs like The Glory Hole & Running Dog Nose on the right (I think... correct me if I’m wrong) It needs to be filled in more but that didn’t stop a skier on Wednesday. After a few runs on Collins and Sugarloaf, I headed over to Supreme. I LOVED the run Challenger but the end of Supreme gets quite flat. did a few runs on Sugarloaf. I was loving Amen & Extrovert. ❤️ popped over to Snowbird and was ehh. The runs off of Baldy lift were quite bald .. and wind swept. And finished my ski day with some runs off of Collins. like ABasin and Keystone has, I love the long top to bottom runs at Alta. I believe Collins is about 1,854 vertical feet. Hopefully I’ll be back to Alta/Snowbird on Saturday with a better story. Off to do a snow dance in hopes that it helps.

  10. Had a GREAT time at Bear Creek this morning. I got 20 runs in with temps in the upper 30s under mostly sunny sky’s. They blew snow the night before so many trials had a couple inches of manmade perder for the first few runs, to go a long with very nice snow everywhere else. Also, a nice selection of rails down cascade and black bear. Ole Sassy was ROTD and still one of my favorite runs when it’s open. This was my first time back to BC in many, many years and it brought back a lot of fond memories. I grew up riding BC in my teens, having a season pass there for many years. I recently moved 15 minutes from BC and will be getting a season pass there next year for casual weeknights. Can’t beat a $400 season pass 15 minutes from the mountain. I should’ve taken some pics but I didn’t, just a snap.

  12. I signed up today with Chesco, thinking i will have better odds with them than Delco. First, Delco doesnt actually have their own Health Dept, they kinda work off of Chester County's. And second, its probably unlikely the vaccine will be administered at Wawa's and Acmes, so pretty much most of Delco is fucked right from the get go.

  15. I was a passholder at bear for 7 or so seasons in high school and while I went to Kutztown. Love the place. It’s small, but there’s some fun to be had if you’re not a wet blanket like GSS

  24. Yeah, lines were a little long today, but the traffic directors kept the VIP line moving. Heard some grumbling from folks that don’t have season passes. Oh well, maybe they should buy a season pass. Switchback definitely ROTD. Challenge was absolutely terrifying. Cookies all the way across and all the way down. Otherwise, conditions were pretty good.

  25. Correct. Wasting hours every week for a like or two on PASR.

  31. my understanding (albeit limited; i'm just a lowly computer nerd, not an expert in fiscal policy) was that it's faster, easier, and therefore actually cheaper to just make a blanket policy that gives everyone the stimulus check than it is to go through the process of putting together a program and a team, figuring out who falls into what bracket, etc. only to inevitably have some people slip through the cracks on both sides anyway.

  35. The Kiosks are pretty friggin awesome TBH. Simple put your printed barcode or even your phone screen with the barcode in and out pops your card. Like schif said, it should take 5 seconds.

  36. I see that, and raise you the ethical issue of anybody here actually needing the second stimulus check. They should be paying more attention to those that are in need, rather than those that go skiing and enjoy sausage sunday.

  38. Yeah, kinda like Doug said, most times after they blow snow on a trail its not good for like 2 days. Good news is it should be prime for us weekend skiers. i get the struggle coming from JFBB, but you need to weigh the goods and bads, and i always come up with more good at Blue than Frost, at least in my last years there. NMDW is my fav trail, so im not super excited about the park thing, but it is what it is. When its just sitting there unused, thats when i will go all saltyant.

  40. I almost always ski alone, except sometimes do some runs with the Walts. Well this weekend my friend from college is coming on Sunday and I already reserved by buddy pass for him. I know you're saving yours for Zonked.

  41. Yep - I was a passholder at BC all through high school and first two years of high school. I remember the off-peak pass being like $ 150 or $ 170. I was mostly riding park all the time then and they had some nice features. Loved the half pipe too

  42. was a nice evening sesh, saw edge while booting up, ROTE was racweway/midway. switch was closed at first then they dropped the rope, the 16 people that ski'd it before us turned it to to cookie crunch, not a stich of cord to be found... ...bastards!

  45. Not crowds so much as lack of lift capacity as the Tram is only taking 25 people vs 100, gondolas taking a few per cabin va 6-8 and the quads are mostly two people...check out the webcams. It is a pow day but also a very unfriended time of year out there. I know they ran out of parking today.
