We had a great day at Elk today. Spent most of the day on the quad side and the whole family enjoyed it. There was fresh snow blown on the ungroomed trails, and the bumps were nice and soft. It even started snowing pretty hard for a bit and there was a decent couple of inches on top of the bumps on Chippewa. My son and I were the first tracks down and it was a blast! The kids enjoyed Tunkhannock also and I’m really happy that they are keeping up with me. My son on Chippewa pics of the fam Tunkhannock in the AM15 points

Lines got better after 12. Totally right. @AtomicSkier best. Day. snowboarding at Loveland in 2008 is now demoted to my #2 day when I got off the tram, they just opened miner basin and it was the most magical moment of my life. I can only attribute It to luck and good karma. knee deep to waist deep. Fresh tracks. line at mineral basin became crazy too but baldy lift was quick and a great time. I’ll write something longer later tonight10 points

Hey all, I’m back from a fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. Today began with a bit of a snafu as my zipper got jammed and then my aggression broke it. All good jacket is 7 years old and worked out to about 30 cents per ski day on it. Not doing an in the house cause in frustrated from spending the last hour looking for a temporary replacement jacket to use in the interim while waiting for something better to arrive from online. Onto the skiing, Challenge was ok to start but became a cookie factory. Main Street had a combination of fresh cord and new manmade Poe. Sidewinder had fantastic cord and most of the Root rollers were smoothed out. Switchback was a carpet and had a sweet run on midway to little gap to lower Burma. Was chilly with my jacket wide open..and the parking lot was cold as well and now I have a ton of cheese balls thanks to Mute and Ryan. JADIp6 points

Over 3' of pow since last weekend up here, everything is in and deeeeeeeeeeeep. Slow start to the season this year.5 points

Yeah it snowed but visibility was terrible and my friends didn’t want to buy day tickets so we snowshoed instead. I def think skinning is so much more efficient. Snowshoeing wears you out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

If you’re a season pass holder, and using buddy pass, I think you can both use VIP line. I didn’t realize it until later in the day last week when mine was being used.3 points
-
Yeah, lines were a little long today, but the traffic directors kept the VIP line moving. Heard some grumbling from folks that don’t have season passes. Oh well, maybe they should buy a season pass. Switchback definitely ROTD. Challenge was absolutely terrifying. Cookies all the way across and all the way down. Otherwise, conditions were pretty good.3 points

QFT! Get up, get out, get moving when snow’s a flying, especially when there’s not been a lot of snowfall lately.2 points

Don't drop in off the snowmaking mound on Rivershot. If you're "looking over the edge" you shouldn't drop in. You want to start skiers right in the flatter area above the headwall on Rivershot. You ski with the ice cliff on your left. The pitch is still fairly steep and there's a small ledge to drop over the steepest bit, but it holds snow much better. People do occasionally send it off of RIvershot but they either just got done making a ton of snow that has bound well and not slid off, a massive dump of fresh snow, or they're just insane. I have witnessed all three.2 points

I did the same on the ride home...Big thanks to Mute....Had some fun laps with Mute and Boo Bear but once the line got past the scanners I called it... @GrilledSteezeSandwich I have an XL black Burton jacket you can use if you want,,,It's in great condition...It does have a hood though...and I'm not sure I will be at Blue tomorrow....2 points

The wind was a little annoying, but conditions were pretty good. I could also do without the snow guns on open trails. I'm hoping all is right in the world tomorrow for a legendary Sausage Sunday.2 points

Yikes .... that sucks. But, I couldn't imagine showing up 30 minutes before opening on a pow day, let alone 1h 15m late. Get your ass out of bed! Always better to be early and sit around getting stoked for the day. I know @indiggio (i think) was talking about driving up at 6am just to ensure no issues in the canyon. The shit skiers do to get the goods Enjoy the snow!2 points

The ski resorts around SLC are getting Whamboozled with snow..enjoy skiincy..also when traversing for fresh perder..a lot of people are impatient and turn off early or super patient and go clear to the boundary rope..sometimes the middle is where it’s at. Have Fun!!! Enjoy the junk show!!!2 points

Put the skis on today..Rode from 9-11...Didn't see any familiar faces...Main was ROTD...Like butter only better..By ten the bottom was gettin kinda sugary ..Challenge was side to side Chips Ahoy on steroids......Razors was closed with the nicest grooming on it...Suspect an event this weekend?. ...Switch and Side were Okay...Dude got on the sixer with me and pulled his mask down and starts talkin..I said WTF and told him to pull his mask up....un fuckin real...Nice temps with on and off sun made for a nice morning....but the lines were past the scanners on the quad and sixer by 11....2 points

i think its time for a good new PASR controversy/beef. i dont know why you guys want to ban eaf, i give him props for bringing the beef to the front door like Dominos. also props to sally for keeping her foot on poster's necks when they come at her sideways.2 points

On behalf of PASR administration, your pardon is granted for this one time.1 point

Third. I took her a few times when she was younger and she never really wanted to go back until this year. Tried to get her a 5th grade ski pass but they didn't offer it this year. She did really well.... didn't make it up to paradise but she's close. Had a blast. And yeah it was a freaking zoo. Not sure the point of limiting ticket sales if lines are going back to the turnstiles anyway. Ski school hill wasn't bad but the six pack and quad was insane.1 point

You have touring gear? I think you might have been better served skinning up Alta than waiting for the lift today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Wow, that's nucking futs how it snows up there all the time when it doesnt here. That's exactly how it was when I was there 2 weeks ago and it was sickbird! JohnnyLaw and I were just talking about how Elk's climate is so different than Blue's even though it's not so far away. Radical!1 point

Wait until they have a solid base of natural snow. When Platty is on it is really on.1 point

Yeah in line waiting for the rope to drop the people in front of me were scanned but did not have a reservation. Liftee was totally cool and said, “You have 5 minutes just go on your phone and make a reservation now.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

my understanding (albeit limited; i'm just a lowly computer nerd, not an expert in fiscal policy) was that it's faster, easier, and therefore actually cheaper to just make a blanket policy that gives everyone the stimulus check than it is to go through the process of putting together a program and a team, figuring out who falls into what bracket, etc. only to inevitably have some people slip through the cracks on both sides anyway.1 point

First off, Doug, this is the Crested Butte thread. I don’t want to hear about Jackson Hole here. On to the snow....crowds were non existent as is usual for a non holiday weekday here. My first run as I was traversing over to Paradise Lift, I got into my head a bit and realized these were the exact conditions when I fell last season and got my concussion. On the head wall where I fell I was very cautious, bad energy. did 3 laps on Paradise and the snow was great! Took a different way down each time and was able to find some bumps on every run. By the third lap fog had rolled in and visibility was pea soup so I headed down to East River lift. First run was on Black Eagle and 1/2 way down there were some big bumps to navigate but they were nice and soft so it wasn’t too bad. Did a few more over there and headed back past the Paradise Lift to the Teocalli. Wanted to hit Buschwack as it wasn’t opens last time I was here. The bumps there are good size for me to practice on. Did 2 laps on that and headed back to the front side doing a bit of light trees where I could find them. Should snow all day through tonight. Have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a shit show.1 point

On Wednesday, I did a 1/2 day of skiing at Alta. I did some work but my work projects were on hold & waiting for someone else to complete things - so I popped over to Alta for about 3-4 hours and skied about 17k (although my Apple Watch/strava and Ilon tracker differs slightly) 🤷🏼♀️ As I was driving up Little Cottonwood Canyon, there were multiple helicopters. Last time I saw that many helicopters, my local target was being looted. Don’t know what was happening though. as I drove up and passed Hell’s Gate Condos (after snowbird), I got pulled over for speeding. I was asked if I was a lecture or ticket. So that was cool. So for anyone planning to visit Alta, be mindful of the cop that sits at the Hells Gate. Supposedly he does it all the time according to someone I chatted with at Alta. But FYI - we need more snow. this is coming off of the Collins Lift and heading to Sugarloaf lift and Devils Way run. It looks recently groomed. Few bumps. Packed powder. Great day to be out. This pic is going up Sugarloaf lift and looking at runs like The Glory Hole & Running Dog Nose on the right (I think... correct me if I’m wrong) It needs to be filled in more but that didn’t stop a skier on Wednesday. After a few runs on Collins and Sugarloaf, I headed over to Supreme. I LOVED the run Challenger but the end of Supreme gets quite flat. did a few runs on Sugarloaf. I was loving Amen & Extrovert. ❤️ popped over to Snowbird and was ehh. The runs off of Baldy lift were quite bald .. and wind swept. And finished my ski day with some runs off of Collins. like ABasin and Keystone has, I love the long top to bottom runs at Alta. I believe Collins is about 1,854 vertical feet. Hopefully I’ll be back to Alta/Snowbird on Saturday with a better story. Off to do a snow dance in hopes that it helps.1 point
