I just needed board somewhere else this weekend besides Blue.. needed a change. So, I blew a free hotel stay and hit up Montage on Saturday and Sunday. Conditions were good both days, but the crowds were better on Sunday morning. I mainly rode off the Phoebe lift with a couple trips up Long Haul in order to give legs a nice long break. Boomer was the RTOD both days with nice soft snow. Smoke was a little bit sketchy on Sunday, hard and scrapped off on the second headwall. Most fun was watching all the news trying to avoid the snow piles that developed on Lower FasTrack on Saturday afternoon. Lastly,, all the recent food threads on Old Forge pizza might have been my main driver in going this weekend.. đ. Hit up Colarusso's.9 points

Today was the Bird with 18â of new snow in 12 hours. It hurts to walk up and down steps. The powder murdered my legs. It was one for the books and definitely a top 5 day. Got a wake up call from someone driving to Mt Bleu. Was out the door by 6:45am, dropped wally off and headed for Snowbird. Got to Snowbird .. parked at entry 4 (highly recommend this lot). Skiied down a kids hill to the Peruvian Lift. There was a delayed opening so I chatted with the others in line. Then, I looked down at my collapsible ski pole and noticed I had 1.75 poles đłđ somehow I turned into a gaper. Just take my ski helmet and give me denim jeans to ski in. I ran to the bathroom by the tram and back. Nothing there. Do I stay in the first row? Or go on a search and rescue for my ski pole? I was just going to stay F it and ski down with 1 working pole. Then, a stranger said ... I think I saw one by entry 4 at the top of Chickadee. So I ran up the kids ski hill to retrieve it. I returned to the line with my gaggle of stranger friends cheering. Success. Waited. Waited. And some more waits. I got on the 6th chair at 10:45am. It was epic and wild. I didnât have a lifestyle photographer with me so no steezy photos. instead, you get some pristine powder pics of runs that were about to get tapped. The first run down - there was carnage everywhere. Lots of lost skis in the deep powder. (.... I wouldnât know anything about it ....) I really missed my powder skis today. when I moved back to PA a few years ago, I had 5 pairs of skis including a wide pair of powder skis by Fatypus. But, before I met PASR people - I was convinced to pair down my skis. (RIP powder skis. I missed you a lot today. Hope youâre in a better place) On the Baldy lift, I rode with a man who has been ski patrol at Montage for 30 years. Small world! Hi montage man! my go-to good karma points is to offer to take a group when I see people gathering trying to get a group photo. I do it everywhere from boathouse row, art museum steps, and ski resorts . I was exhausted and it seemed like an opportunity to rest briefly. So some strangers offered to take my photo in return.. this is off of the Baldy lift looking at mineral basin lift below during the last run (on the back side.) This one is from January 23, 2021... last Saturday. Remember that post? and this is from today (January 30, 2020). Definitely had lower visibility. looking back into SLC on the last run of the day It snowed almost all day, stopping around 3:30pm. The snow felt heavier than other Colorado/Utah powder days ive had. It felt more wet, heavy, and sticky. Like the type of snowballs. Iâve had a couple powder days in California and it felt like a west coast snow. It wasnât as light and fluffy as last weekend. I looked for some research to see if my guess is right but I didnât get very far. https://opensnow.com/news/post/snow-ratios-explained My favorite area is usually the runs off of Path to Paradise, but that was closed. My favorite run was the first one down the front. It was deep, incredible, and a memorable sendoff as I pack up and plan to leave Utah tomorrow. at the end of the day, I strolled and saw this rad license plate.9 points

Back form Blue. Great session this morning with some awesome groomers across most of the mountain. I think we are in for a treat with this upcoming storm. It was fairly crowded to start but since the quad was running the lift lines weren't too bad. Still lines filled with maskless idiots that needed to be called out. Lots of PASRs in the house today. Razors was nice. Main was fantastic. Most other trails were between good and V good. Lazy was kinda trashy. Scoped out 'Coming Soon' and look forward to skiing that tomorrow or Tuesday morning depending on what actually happens with this storm. As I sit here typing, there is a lot of snow coming down and the ground at Mt. Mik is white. Current predictions in this area are for 18-22". Buckle up ladies and gentleman! This will be fun to watch!7 points

4-5" of fresh snow overnight last night at Whitetail and region as a whole - all after grooming was finished so a beautiful layer of powdery goodness atop the packed powder - and one diamond trail left totally ungroomed. Kept snowing all day adding another 4-5" with more to come. Driving was hairy- especially on the way to Mt with roads still unplowed. Main lift got pretty crazy line wise from 10-12 but the expert area lift never got worse than 10 min. No pix today as it was snowing too much to want to take out phone and take off gloves. Imagine a white square and you get the idea of the pic. Staying over to ski tomorrow too. Gotta decide whether to try Liberty or return to Whitetail. I have never been to Liberty and it is closer to being on the way home, but it's smaller and I don't know what the roads will be like around it in snow.7 points

So technically you can add me to the list of who was in the house today. I was up in NEPA to deal with a death in the family and wasn't planning on getting out at all today but with the impending weather and a slew of nervous relatives around I was shipped out early. Stopped at Blue and got on my snowboard around 2:45. 5 quick runs while the snow was falling really steadily. My schedule in the next few days is up in the air and I very much doubt I'll be able to get out and enjoy this snow when it's fresh but who knows. I'll be traveling with my snowboard so we will see what happens.4 points

Tomorrow am will be good...Tomorrow pm better but the drive home is high risk.....Ideally you would sleep in your car if you can and be there at opening Tuesday ....for the stuff that is only open every few years.....4 points

Whatever is steeper. 18" of snow on flat trails isn't going to be fun.4 points

Today was fun skiing and fun parking lot...a lot of Richard noselys in the line today one threatened to beat everybody up and got a talking to by a ski patroller. Switchback and midway were good. Everybody but Shadows and schifdawg were in the house. I put windshield wiper fluid in my car in preparation of 20â of snow. People also driving 17mph over the mountain which had a skiff of snow..perder for the people and lazy mile was bad and I canât catch cheese balls in my mouth well. Also Matt edge told us a riddle.4 points

Double fist pump mid first run made me chuckle. WTGAI! Conditions were awesome for the first hour, snow was grate except for Lazy. Crowds and non maskers stunk. Fingers crossed I can get out of work the next two days [emoji1694]3 points

Fun morning with good conditions. @theprogram4, @Mixilplix , @PSUFly and I were trying to figure out how many other snowboarders are on the site. We came up with @Schif and @EdBacon . I imagine weâre missing a couple others?3 points

Left a little early, glad I did, got ahead of the slick stuff, I need to move closer. Sleepy hollow and switchback were good. I moved to the little gap side early but as has been the case a lot this season, the Burma chair did not start spinning until late. Added another fun day to a good year so far.3 points

In years past, they've groomed the expert terrain first, and let it pile up. But they'll groom the beginner stuff right before opening.3 points

Anyway Razor's Edge was in really really great shape and @mute1080 even witnessed me do a fist pump enroute. Challenge was meh at first but it definitely improved after 9 am or so and I did a few runs down it. My RTMs felt amazing as I got a fresh wax and edge yesterday. I rate today's conditions an 8.5/103 points

Not surprising. We talked about this in the blue thread in regards to them making nightmare/dreamweaver into a park. I think the surrounding resorts are seeing the train wreck thatâs a Vail owned JFBB and jumping on the opportunity to showcase what theyâve got to try and reel in some extra sales. bearâs park has always been decent. Once Tom left for beaver creek it struggled for a year or so but itâs gradually been making its way back. Theyâre limited by management on what they can build which is why the tubing jump line has been sub 40 footers the last few seasons.3 points

Left my bank cards at home. Had to find a bank for emergency cash to get gas. Lucky I didn't start looking around the middle of nowhere that this place is in. Big Bear still had tickets available going into the weekend and since I'm checking out Shawnee tomorrow I figured I'd get another day in somewhere. It was the only place with space available. Parking lot is paved, so I wouldn't go back anyway. Place feels more like a country club than a ski area. It used to be private, I believe. It was designed by the same guy who built Shawnee and also private vacation community ski areas like Pocono Ranchlands and Winona Lakes. Anyway, advertises 650 vert. Can't be more than 500. Snow was scratchy but not too bad. Not good though. Doesn't feel like they're aggressive with snowmaking. Not all their trails were open, including their two steepest. Terrain park was very sad. Honestly just felt like things aren't kept up so well. But then they have RFID. So the basics are not great but then they spend money on things like that. Lifts are old but so what. They have a couple cool vintage 70s Borvig doubles, one with the original towers if you're into that. The one looks like it never runs anymore. Got yelled at twice by a 16 year old ski patroller. Started singing on the lift ride for entertainment. Feels like their business is mostly people who still own in the community, and they're content with that. There just doesn't seem to be a ton of effort compared to other hills in the area. The lodge is very nice though, and looks like they dropped a bunch of money on it. Wouldn't recommend even if you wanted a mountain to learn at as there's just nothing else going on, and the snow quality is inferior to other Poconos hills which have the added benefit of more terrain variety. And look, size isn't everything but what you do with it. They just don't do anything with what they do have. Also paved parking lot which sucked. That 16 year old would probably yell at you for tailgating too.2 points

Given the weather forecast I will likely stay out here and ski Monday too, maybe even Tuesday. Really doesn't make sense to drive home through a snow storm tomorrow night to not ski in deep fresh snow Monday.2 points
