BFPD! New PASR acronym Bluebird Fucking Powder Day! Today was my best, most fun day of this season. Snowed 8” overnight. Today is trash day and since my plow guy didn’t come before I left, getting my trash can over a 4’ mound of snow the street guys left for me made me late. 2 full buses went by and a regional bus from Gunnison stopped and said they could take a few. Got in line at 8:31 and (for CB) there was already a decent line. first run down Paradise and OH. MY. GOD. It was deep! Lots of hoots and hollers were heard. East River had equally good snow, but after a few runs the lines started backing up (again, CB lines, but I am now spoiled). Went down to Teo and lapped Bushwacker for a bit, guess what? Good snow there too! Then ended doing some laps near the Umbrella Bar. Some was groomed, but under the lift was fresh. Ended the morning with 11 runs and tired legs. Heard lots of avy bombs going off near the North Face lift. And according to the paper this morning they are trying hard to get it open by President’s weekend FYI @AtomicSkier. Right now I just can’t seem to wipe this smile off my face.13 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. When I arrived at 820am it was in the upper 20s under sunny sky’s. Wow the people really streamed in fast while I was booting up. Also in the House was BenM. Second civilian 6 pack. ..had a conversation with an old timer who just recovered from Covid. He got it from his wife who got it at Bingo. First run was sidewinder as challenge and razors grooming looked subpar and wow sidewinder was great western packed powder. Up the quad and skied razors which was uneven at the top and smooth packed powder the rest of the way. Then up the quad again to coming soon which barely had any rocks and small chalky bumps on the steep pitch. Coverage was incredible for all natural snow. Up the six pack and skied Main Street which was super good then sidewinder again followed by some woods off tuts lane where I got stuck and so much underlying stuff not that good onto lazy mile to the Main Street chair. Full corral on the Main Street side so went to Burma side where line was minimal but they were only running the Main Street chair which was dumb. Final run come around then under the Main Street chair which was nice chowder to the chute to lower Main Street to shuttle to lower park to the lot for a quick beer. The temperature was in the mid 30s when I left and the lower lot was full. JADIP. I might be up tomorrow AM depends if we get a few inches of new snow...9 points

Got out for a flat tour around the parks by my house tonight. Not much breaking trail since this route sees a lot of hiker traffic. It’s pretty cool since there are a lot of little bridges across small streams. The lake that the one trail loops around is almost totally frozen, which made for some nice scenery. I also managed to not almost fall in the river tonight, very much unlike when I biked this route last week. Are dynafit toes always a pain to step into, or am I doing something wrong? Snow was grate! Managed 3 runs on paradise in 90 minutes. Lines weren’t too bad but mask wearing was dumb. The coverage is awesome to see at Blue. Chatted with@nastarglenn in the lot before going out and caught @paridgerider in the line. Hope everyone had a great night.4 points

This reminds me of the office scene where Dwight intentionally lights a fire and says today smoking will save lives.4 points

Thats kinda like a badge of honor, and normally means you had a good day. Not that i try to abuse my skis, but keeping them in my closet would keep them pristine, but i would be bored as hell.4 points

6 days till my first shot!!! My friend who’s about the least careful I know finally got Covid and she said she feels like complete garbage. I damn well know she’s still sending her kid to school. Stupid...still sending prayers her way as she has a weak immune system and still a good friend. Just careless.4 points

It felt so weird riding new terrain at blue...almost surreal (I have no recollection of nightweaver opening). Props to them for allowing coming soon to still be open. Also felt weird riding as a passenger to blue, first time in 5 years and 7 years since riding as a back seat passenger to blue. The ambiance felt like a western blue bird day...natural snow on the trails and one of the few times riding blue each year where there is significant snow on the whole mountain, not just the trails. Also feels good to come home and see alot of snow in my backyard, what a great past 5 days it’s been3 points

Do you see wood or fiberglass through the gouges in your bases? If not, rock and roll. Anything else is superficial and will make your skis marginally slower (@AtomicSkier response in 3... 2... 1...), but it's not gonna ruin your skiing unless you've got plastic hanging off the bases.3 points

The snow was awesome from the start, it really is the best of the season right now. Kinda skiing groomers in Alps. So enjoyable. Especially with the sun out. Doesn't last too long though with that many people. I'd say that in an hour it turns just being OK. The Coming Soon turned into a mogul field. And with the coverage being thin, those moguls are right down to rocks in many places. Be cautious. Crowds were gradually picking up, felt like a holiday weekend, not a Thursday morning. I called it quits after two hours, but still a great day.2 points

Only the second one is a love tap, you could throw a smidgen of ptex down so they don't grind them so much when you next get them ground but those are just babies. Core shots or where it pulls the ptex and drags you gotta get fixed but that can all just be taken care of next tune. Atomic would flip about those edges though lol Sideways movements across rocks especially when applying downhill leg pressure is the big damaging movement ie coreshots, edge pullout that kinda shit. When it's thinner you can try to pick your spots where your really putting in leg but they are skis so my thought is rip it and fix them latter.2 points

Nice that despite the warmish temperatures today the north facing slopes of the Blue mountain stayed packed powder. That’s my boy Blue.1 point

I hate that Challenge/Crossover intersection...Parents and there little crotch goblins just ski right on to Challenge without looking up to see what's comming....or dad taking little Johnny son of a bitch to falls so he can ski a 'black diamond" run...1 point
