*First Post Alert* Short but sweet Saturday up at True today. Pretzel Boyz were in attendance---SNWLRD, Tree, Plankxxx, ACLibby, and myself. Side note, SNWLRD might have lost that title due to some of his recent actions---he's opting for a golf trip during peak ski season as opposed to a ski trip to New Hampshire with the boyz. Group voting on whether or not he's now SNWLZR. First run was down sidewinder, then bombed challenge, switch, and closed out on coming soon. Thankfully I did not come too soon this time. Plankxxx finally got a taste of east coast mogul skiing and he didn't know what hit him. His dogs were barking. Lift lines got way too crazy so we bailed out and did some juicy ipas and miller lattes in the lot. Looking forward to the potential reset tomorrow.10 points

Took a little detour today and tried to follow in@toast21602’s footsteps. Thanks for breaking trail the other day! Snow was absolutely f’d. 1” sun crust, 2-3” of heavy wet dense queso, then the untouched dry underneath. Some of the most difficult snow I’ve ever tried to turn in. Too bad some xc nerd completely trenched your skin track. Stream crossing getting a little technical, but didn’t have to take the skis off at least. Hoping these smaller storms over the next week get things back in good shape. I saw a few other little zones that look like they could be pretty fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk8 points

Since a few of the bumpers didn't get to ski the perder or Coming Soon this past week, we made a beeline to the quad hoping to take it right up at open and see if Coming Soon was still open and if it was, see what it was like. Unfortunately the quad attendants gave us the boot, as they said the quad was having some issues that needed investigation. First run down Challenge with the real snow mixed in was glorious and by the time we got back down, the quad was loading. Up the quad and down Coming Soon for the first time. Top was sun-baked refreeze and had to be careful as the snow would grab and edge and send you. Down to the headwall to find the entirety of which was one giant glorious mogul field. Surprisingly the snow was still very good, not like the man-made stuff we're used to. Also, since the bumps were naturally formed, they had nice spacing and you could get into a rhythm skiing them. Pretty much lapped Coming Soon all morning until the quad like became far too long a wait. Also, we took a few adventures into the woods off skier's left of CS. If Blue wanted, they could make that entire area a giant glade that would be a ton of fun.7 points

The WFH situation has afforded me the ability to do something I’ve wanted to do. Spend at least a month in Colorado. One week in Telluride (with a day trip to Silverton) with @NMSKI and @Johnny Law, 4 weeks in Crested Butte, and a week in Aspen. After that, who knows. Today started that adventure. I departed 6:10am to dumping snow on 78. It was slow going for 30 miles or so. Finally broke free of that and set the cruise and relaxed. I had about 860 miles to cover to St Louis, my planned overnight stop. I had forgotten how beautiful the views from the PA turnpike are. Ohio is pretty flat, Indiana is a narrow state, and Illinois is just flat farmland. About 14 hours later, I crossed the mighty Mississippi and arrived in St Louis. Long day of driving, but I was in no rush. Stopped at least every two hours. Tomorrow’s destination is Denver to visit some friends. Should be at least an hour less driving tomorrow, but nothing really to look at. Might encounter some snow on my drive, but only an inch or two. Only picture I took today was at a random rest stop in Illinois of the car. It’s filthy, but kickin’ ass.6 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Blue mOuntain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at like 7:15am and it was in the low 20s with the sun rising. In the house were Toast, JFDan, BenM, Mute, Ryan, Boo Bear, justo, Rose, Indiggio, Slim, Enjorales cousin, Faldo, Eddie, Charles, Rodney , Gahskier George, MBike mike, Antman, Nastar Glenn and many others. First civilian six pack and challenge was super good soft packed perder..if some dust blowing up..liftlines were a few minutes from the start..I skied challenge again then Main Street which was super good..Paradise was nice and a lot of people were enjoying coming soon which has some amazing natural snow cover. Switchback was also very nice not quite as good as Main Street. Tuts lane to connector to lower widowmaker to midway to little gap to lower Burma to shuttle to lower park also good. That’s essentially the Haute root. Parking lot was fun with some beers and snacks..I hit up White Castle on the way home....sickbird. Ski everybody tomorrow could be some fresh Perder for opening. JADIP The ski conditions had me pitching a tent as were some in the lot.4 points

I was scrolling through Bethlehem EMS Facebook photos from yesterday and found this of me in line for my second vaccine dose at the casino. The first few hours were fine yesterday evening, and then my arm got sore again like my first dose right before I went to bed. Today I woke up and felt like a bus hit me. Achy all over, bad headache, and a fever. Could barely move. I ended up sleeping most of the day other than meetings. After 24 hours I’m starting to feel better, but whew, it was rough most of today. Hopefully I’ll be good to go tomorrow. Definitely was a rough patch with that immune response, but beats an ET tube stuffed down my throat. For those getting the vaccine soon, try and take a day off after round two if you can.4 points

Tomorrow should be a good day. Next week looks to be wintry with multiple shots at snow. I see some talk of something significant late week. We'll see.3 points

Sorry @Barb it was a long day. I’m already passed the halfway point of today’s drive, both in time and distances. 400 miles left to Denver, and ~5h45m remaining. I’ve been driving through a snow storm for the last 100+ miles but it was mostly blowing across the road and could still keep speeds up around 75-80. Clear of the weather now with the hammer down.3 points

After 26-28 hour range it was like somebody flipped a switch and I was back to feeling fine. My fever broke and then all I had was the standard sore arm. It was surprising how quickly things changed.3 points

We will aim for 740 as well, though we're always late. We knew the location of the halfway house well enough to find it ourselves on the second attempt last year. 😂😂 I'll literally brining only meat this time, so anything one thinks we might need. Ribs and pork will be rubbed but not sauced, so if someone has a BBQ sauce they think I'd just awesome, bring it and share the love. Plates, paper towels could come in handy.2 points

Looks good in the sun! @mbike-ski and I might head back tomorrow depending on the snow, or later in the week depending on future weather. This snow is going to stick around for a bit!1 point

That’s almost as messed up as spending weeks begging Barb to drive 2.5 hours to blue, then immediate ditching her first run. PASRs pretend this didn’t happen but I remember1 point

TFTI. I had a lot of fun driving cross country. Ohio sucks, and Indiana and Illinois arent bad because they're relatively short. Kansas goes on forever, but I thought it was nice seeing just vast nothingness. Be sure to check out the Wizard of Oz museum along the way1 point

So i thought about it some more, and I think it has to do with the fact that my boots have a DIN sole, not a 9523 touring sole, which is a bit thicker. There's little shoulder nubs on the binding right in front of the pins that should align the toe lug, but since my soles are thinner, I think they drop down into the toe piece ever so slightly too far to be able to just seamlessly step into them. Gotta see if there's a toe height adjustment I can fiddle with which should solve the issue, I think.1 point
