The gang is all here @mute1080 @enjoralas @Benm @JFskiDan @RidgeRacer @PSUFly. It’s super cold, the sun is shining, the snow is fantastic. Everyone is enjoying themselves so far. Everything is open and groomed to perfection or bumped up nicely. Some would say it is like skiing in Vermont, but without the drive.17 points

A beautiful day here in Telluride. I love the lack of rush. Skied right from the house a little after 9 and we were on our way. Sun was out, snow was great, and gave @skiincy a tour of Telluride in the morning. Quick stop back at the house to get my pack and grab something to eat, as I wanted to hike Bald Mtn in advance of @NMSKI and @Johnny Law’s arrival to check out conditions. Hiked up Bald Mtn quickly, and enjoyed some deep and untracked, albeit heavy turns. Little too heavy for my liking. Skied directly to Gorrono Ranch where I assumed the position and got numb. @skiincy and @Barb arrived shortly there after. Going to ski for a few hours tomorrow AM and then go pick up the boys at MTJ. JADIP. @skiincy departing the accommodations in the AM Where I was going to get numb later.... Revelation Bowl shot of me The position...12 points

So, hearing that Belleayre got 24" of new snow last week, still having unused ORDA cards and Superbowl on the horizon, we decided to do a day trip to Belleayre, especially since more snow was coming. The timing of this new storm and its general direction couldn't have been more perfect. It was coming from south west in the morning, was supposed to dump 3-5 inches in NJ and Catskills during the day and then just disappear into the Atlantics. So, we've left the house at 5:15am and by 8am were at the mountain having seen not a drop of rain, not a single snowflake, only dry and empty roads. The mountain wasn't supposed to be open until 9am, but all of the lifts were already spinning. It's nice when the management actually anticipates that people may be coming to ski and starts the lifts not just when lines build up, but way ahead of the opening hour. By 8:30 we were on the slopes and seeing that some blue jackets were already going down started asking around about if it was OK for us to ski as well. "Go!" - they've said: "Go, while the crowds didn't come yet". And so we went. And as it turned out later, the crowds never actually came. The grooming was impeccable. Same beautiful carpet as I've seen at Blue last Thursday, except that there was just more of it. And the trails stayed good not for an hour and a half, but for the entire day. It was really unbelievable, at Blue lately I can't help but notice that my sessions started to get shorter and shorter because people get smarter, lines build up faster, and snow turns into crap sooner. Here we a-priori decided to wait out the bad road conditions on the mountain from 9am to 4pm, and initially had this idea that we HAD TO ski all day until the storm has passed, but it turned out that we didn't HAVE TO, there was no such feeling of being trapped on the mountain, we didn't count the hours until it was time to leave. We just skied open-to-close and enjoyed every minute of it. It started snowing around 9am. At times the snow was heavy, at times light, I think the total amount of precipitation was less than forecasted, especially in Catskills, but regardless, it was just such a great winter day. Is there something else one could wish for? Sure. Good roads on the way back. And we've got them too, all plowed, no slush, door to door. Woo-hoo!10 points

Adding to the Telluride stoke. It was great groomer day. Skied from 9:30-3pm, about 25k very. Started by skiing down to the Chondola. Here’s the Chondola x gondola crossing Sun was shinning. The corduroy was set. Heading up to start my whirlwind tour of Telluride with Jeff The sun peaked in and out but most of the time it was gorgeous weather The majestic bowl was quite wind swept (to the left of this pic below) Took the plunge lift and played in the area towards the end of the day. @RootDKJ-saw this and thought of you Ended the day by finding @AtomicSkier and @Barb in the gonorrhea ranch.8 points

Today was the bomb dot com. Sick on so many levels. From bright sunshine, to 5 star restaurant food to conditions. Speaking of...Conditions this morning into the near afternoon were a carpet. Not just any carpet...a carpet so good Empire Today would use it to create a new line to install in peoples homes. (It would be called "Elk Cord".) Around 10 or so Krispy Kreme and beers were had then it was back out on the snow. The cord slowly transformed into a packed pow surface akin to what you would find out west. The Tunkhannock bumps were off the chain good as was everything pretty much from Tuscarora, Iroquois, Slalom, Mohawk to Kickapoo, Tecumseh etc. Even skied seneca under the double which was fun, but rarely open when I go. Around 1:30 or 2, His Rummyness rolled in with famous Old Forge Pizza which was 10 out of 10. Then@enjoralas brought out the meat, the scents of which attracted crowds including some very nice ladies from Hazelton (I think) who tore up a few ribs themselves. Toasts bread was manna from Heaven, filled with pork was a party in my mouth. What a day! Thanks to enjo, toast, Rummy for the food and everyone who came, brought something or just skied and had a great time. Today is what winter is all about!8 points

Went for a night session with the family and it was fantastic. It was a comfortable 28° with the clouds moving out. I haven’t had no crowds in a while and we skied right on to the quad every time. The kid is crushing it and after a couple Paradises we moved to Lazy. Snow had a couple scrape spots but was still mostly loose fresh goods.7 points

I'm glad you like the HUD. It's really good for keeping you "heads up" while changing songs, looking at navigation directions, etc. Sorry that this thread hasn't been up to your amazing report standards. I'll try to do better.6 points

No sure what else there is to say about today. Great people great skiing, great food. Elk was just money today. thanks go out to “the herminator” for meeting us early and escorting us to the halfway house, rummy for the condition reports, and for the tasty pizza, and everybody else that made the day so much fun. enjo made it “meaty monday”, but i will also refer to it as “no dinner needed monday”.5 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower at at 8:25am and it was in the mid teens under sunny sky’s. First civilian six pack with the old man me and BenM rode up with Thursday. First run on Challenge, it was truly a magic carpet ride. Very nice quiet packed powder. Razors next and not quite as soft. I then did three more laps on challenge until the cord was gone. There was a big demo day going on with about a dozen tents. Crowds were moderate, a lot of non season passholders. Sidewinder was spectacular and I skied that twice. I did paradise once after the early morning boomers were done warming up on it was nice, a little slow with some wind. Switchback wasn’t as good as the others a little scrapped off. I went up the Main Street chair once to get Widowmaker from the top. Still wall to wall fresh cord at 1015am, midway was ok but some mini ice chunks. At like 1020am was like a half full corral but nobody in the VIP line on the lower park side..I skeet skirted right to the front and finished on sidewinder. I managed 10 runs in an hour and a half and when I left the lot was almost full and the temperature was up to about 22 but it felt warmer. Another grate day in the season that keeps giving. Maybe a little fresh Perder tomorrow AM. JADIP4 points

Woke up a beautiful morning in Denver after a great dinner and celebratory drinks with a college buddy who just had his first child and just landed a big new job. Went for a nice 8 mile run on the High Line Canal Trail. Hit the road around 9:15am enroute to Telluride. It was 50F when I left under sunny, albeit windy, skies. About an hour into the drive when I was on a plateau the crosswind was over 50mph, causing insane blowing snow that I was losing touch with the car that was pretty close in front of me. Luckily that only lasted for about 20 miles. I really enjoyed some of the sweeping passes on the way to Montrose 😀. Quick stop in Montrose for some food, and then hammered down to Telluride. Weather is beautiful here. Settled in, just waiting for @Barb to drop by in a few. Yes, @Barb. Don't want to be accused of leaving out @Barb. Also, @skiincy should be here in an hour or so.4 points

Wtf was with that dude pushing his kid around in the lot? We saw him yesterday too! As someone with a small child, blues parking lot is pretty low on my list of places I’d like to take them for a stroll. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

^^ this is the way to do it. other mtns have demo fleets to try out. wider selection of skis and what not. also, don't have to deal with the crazy lines and you're pretty much assured to be able to try what you want. a lot of times on busy demo days you'll have to wait for the ski you want to try.2 points

Demos are almost always during the week I guess due to less crowds...like Toast was saying you should demo differerent skis from Blues ski shop. It’s $60 and I think you can demo three different pairs and you can apply the $60 towards the purchase price. Demo days are always free.2 points
