Stop number 2 on my indy pass was blue knob. They got a ton of snow over the past couple weeks, and were pretty much 100 percent open... More on that later. Did a solo trip because most of my riding buddies revuse to day trip further than 3 hours. Waze and Apple Maps show the drive would take 4.5 hours, but google maps said 3hrs 45min, which was the most accurate. I left at around 445 since their website says they open at 9. more on that later. There were for sure some good views along the Turnpike. Its super boring until after Harrisburg, but then younger some really nice big mountains. I got to the rest stop just before the series of tunnels and blue knob updated their snow report. Everything opened except a couple glades, but they open at 10...website still says 9. fun. Blue knob is remote. It out there for sure. The access road is one of the sketchiest roads I've been on. Surface wise its in great shape, but a small one foot tall pile of snow is what separates you from a 1200 foot drop into the valley. There was so much snow. more than I've ever seen anywhere outside of Vermont. snowbanks taller than my car. since I was aiming for 9, and they now aren't opening until 10, I sat in my car for an hour and watched YouTube. Surprisingly fast tmobile lte in this area. While there, there was an update to the snow report...All the trails I was most looking forward to would now be closed for snowmaking. I got my indy ticket from a lady who made it seem like I barged into her families Christmas dinner and started begging for food. The views are amazing, and when you start out you see a tangle of lifts and chairs. Only one lift would run, but never any lines so who cares. more on that later. the slope side houses and cabins made it feel more built up then expected, and due to the steepness of the mountain, the lifts did not feel slow at all. kind of like Plattekill. There is a severe lack of signage on hill. I was trying to get to a blue run and ended up on a natural cover bumped lift line (which was fun as hell, even on a snowboard since everything was soft). It was about 7 degerees so I didn't take many photos. I rode groomed trails, glades with mandatory drops, powder, and some sketchy spots on the natural cover trails but nothing too bad. This lift had 2 mid stations you can get off. Notice how low it is right here. On what was going to be my last run of the day, the route 66 lift seem to do an emergency stop and it bounced like I’ve never seen anything bounce before. The trail underneath of it was already questionable due to its super low clearance with the lift, but I didn't realize how low until now. The guy on the chair in front of me had to lift his legs out to avoid having a skiers gopro hit his legs while we bounced. It seemed like I was mere inches off the ground each bounce. The lift started moving again really fast, stopped abruptly again and began bouncing and my ass was coming off the seat. It felt like I was riding El Toro at six flags and my board is once again almost touching the snow on the trail underneath of it. I stated to get nervous. Ive been on Main Street lifts at blue fully loaded and had something similar happen, but this was a whole new level of sketch. I questioned just stepping off the lift (not jumping, legit stepping) but I wondered if I did that and got injured due to a lift failure if I would not get a settlement for not following the lift rules. this happened for like ten minutes straight. I told myself when I get off this lift that this was a sign for me to leave or something. The lift started again and continue as normal and the locals just shrugged it off. I mentioned it to the lifty and he said "welcome to the knob!" ok...... So, final thoughts. Best terrain in PA. Hands down. Needs some lift improvements and maintaince. the resort area was nice and a good amount of condos and slope side options. There is absolutely nothing outside of the resort though. I don't mean to get into politics, but most of the trump signs in the area had pence's name crossed out which I thought was genuinely funny but also a bit WTF. the restaurant options seem to be sheetz and only sheetz. I wouldn't day trip it again, but I would go back for a long weekend.12 points

A couple of inches early morning, just light flurries at 9, kind of a light freezing mist to mess up the goggles, then the snow picked up again around 11. Light crowd, still no lift lines when I left at 10:30, but my goggles kept freezing up. First few runs were really nice from the valley, but the snow got cut up pretty quick. Main Street, Switch Back and Widow Maker were still in good shape when I left.11 points

Definitely miss skiing in general but even more so getting to see all of you guys. Not skiing has absolutely nothing to do with Erica, although I'm sure that she would rather me not. Doug is correct that boots have always been a problem for me, unfortunately even more so right around when I stopped. Not going to make any excuses. 90% of my problems are due to my inability to keep my weight under control. Combine that with the fact that I tend to not go to the Dr for things and just suffer until I absolutely can't. Time is not your friend, especially when you don't take care of yourself. Found out that I ate myself into getting diabetes, dealing with a bunch of pain in my neck, dislocated my tailbone, a bunch of other dumb shit. Even got the COVID-19. So in short.... Currently, I'm a fat fuck who can't seem get his shit together. Miss you fuckers... I'll be back, count on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk9 points

you gotta bring a tool called a file and shave off a bit of the toe/heel lip of your boot where it clips into the binding. it's pretty straightforward. that's if the boot is too big. if it's too small you can always just screw the lips into the ski directly.6 points

Adding to the Telluride stoke. It was great groomer day. Skied from 9:30-3pm, about 25k very. Started by skiing down to the Chondola. Here’s the Chondola x gondola crossing Sun was shinning. The corduroy was set. Heading up to start my whirlwind tour of Telluride with Jeff The sun peaked in and out but most of the time it was gorgeous weather The majestic bowl was quite wind swept (to the left of this pic below) Took the plunge lift and played in the area towards the end of the day. @RootDKJ-saw this and thought of you Ended the day by finding @AtomicSkier and @Barb in the gonorrhea ranch.4 points

won't disagree about dry bases, but if you're a 27.5 boot and he's a 26.5, unless those bindings were mounted on the short side for your boots, they'll adjust down to a 26.5 in 2 minutes. also, @saltyant is like the same height as me, probably a bit heavier. 186 in a softer, rockered ski is perfectly fine. the vantage skis shorter than the listed length, for sure.3 points

A beautiful day here in Telluride. I love the lack of rush. Skied right from the house a little after 9 and we were on our way. Sun was out, snow was great, and gave @skiincy a tour of Telluride in the morning. Quick stop back at the house to get my pack and grab something to eat, as I wanted to hike Bald Mtn in advance of @NMSKI and @Johnny Law’s arrival to check out conditions. Hiked up Bald Mtn quickly, and enjoyed some deep and untracked, albeit heavy turns. Little too heavy for my liking. Skied directly to Gorrono Ranch where I assumed the position and got numb. @skiincy and @Barb arrived shortly there after. Going to ski for a few hours tomorrow AM and then go pick up the boys at MTJ. JADIP. @skiincy departing the accommodations in the AM Where I was going to get numb later.... Revelation Bowl shot of me The position...3 points

No sure what else there is to say about today. Great people great skiing, great food. Elk was just money today. thanks go out to “the herminator” for meeting us early and escorting us to the halfway house, rummy for the condition reports, and for the tasty pizza, and everybody else that made the day so much fun. enjo made it “meaty monday”, but i will also refer to it as “no dinner needed monday”.2 points

Today was the bomb dot com. Sick on so many levels. From bright sunshine, to 5 star restaurant food to conditions. Speaking of...Conditions this morning into the near afternoon were a carpet. Not just any carpet...a carpet so good Empire Today would use it to create a new line to install in peoples homes. (It would be called "Elk Cord".) Around 10 or so Krispy Kreme and beers were had then it was back out on the snow. The cord slowly transformed into a packed pow surface akin to what you would find out west. The Tunkhannock bumps were off the chain good as was everything pretty much from Tuscarora, Iroquois, Slalom, Mohawk to Kickapoo, Tecumseh etc. Even skied seneca under the double which was fun, but rarely open when I go. Around 1:30 or 2, His Rummyness rolled in with famous Old Forge Pizza which was 10 out of 10. Then@enjoralas brought out the meat, the scents of which attracted crowds including some very nice ladies from Hazelton (I think) who tore up a few ribs themselves. Toasts bread was manna from Heaven, filled with pork was a party in my mouth. What a day! Thanks to enjo, toast, Rummy for the food and everyone who came, brought something or just skied and had a great time. Today is what winter is all about!2 points

Woke up a beautiful morning in Denver after a great dinner and celebratory drinks with a college buddy who just had his first child and just landed a big new job. Went for a nice 8 mile run on the High Line Canal Trail. Hit the road around 9:15am enroute to Telluride. It was 50F when I left under sunny, albeit windy, skies. About an hour into the drive when I was on a plateau the crosswind was over 50mph, causing insane blowing snow that I was losing touch with the car that was pretty close in front of me. Luckily that only lasted for about 20 miles. I really enjoyed some of the sweeping passes on the way to Montrose 😀. Quick stop in Montrose for some food, and then hammered down to Telluride. Weather is beautiful here. Settled in, just waiting for @Barb to drop by in a few. Yes, @Barb. Don't want to be accused of leaving out @Barb. Also, @skiincy should be here in an hour or so.2 points

Thanks for the offer Mixilplix. After talking to Johnny of the Law, some skis I might want to sample are Nordica Enforcer, Head Kore, and Atomic Vantage. I've also been reading about Mantras and they sound pretty rad. There are so many options... or maybe I'll buy some Castles just like @AtomicDoug1 point

*First Post Alert* Short but sweet Saturday up at True today. Pretzel Boyz were in attendance---SNWLRD, Tree, Plankxxx, ACLibby, and myself. Side note, SNWLRD might have lost that title due to some of his recent actions---he's opting for a golf trip during peak ski season as opposed to a ski trip to New Hampshire with the boyz. Group voting on whether or not he's now SNWLZR. First run was down sidewinder, then bombed challenge, switch, and closed out on coming soon. Thankfully I did not come too soon this time. Plankxxx finally got a taste of east coast mogul skiing and he didn't know what hit him. His dogs were barking. Lift lines got way too crazy so we bailed out and did some juicy ipas and miller lattes in the lot. Looking forward to the potential reset tomorrow.1 point
