Adventure is seriously underrated, often dismissed as a flight of fancy or a trivial diversion. Something if time allows, something only after all the serious work has been done. I think if you made me sum up today and this whole week it's that adventure is like truffle that makes everything taste good but for your spirit. The first line NM spotted, moments after we could see the place thrusday morning was up Palmyra peak. A ribbon of white along a rocky ridge led to a seeming shangri-la, a rock rimmed ramp of HR Fluff and Stuff. We inquired with the local bar keep as to conditions yesterday and like any fine keeper of ales she gave us word that their few tracks past the first gate. The snow swept in around 8 and by the time we started marching up the ridge the wind was wipping flakes into a snowglobe like frenzy. NM the Himalayan mtn goat was first to the prize but as a fine gentlemen let me go first. I got to dive fast and sweeping into a perfect ramp of piles of pow. As the steepness faded slightly a apron of deep untracked was revealed. Full pow bounce in effect, knee to waist blower in 1000 vert rock cathedral all to our lonesome. Pictures cannot do the experience justice, the scale of the place. That little green dot is NM in the apron. We had a bald mtn run immediately after which yielded the deepest turns of the trip possibly. All this the day after a full day of diamond dust, after a day in helicopters skiing stupid long lines of untracked under perfect skies, after a 8 inch pow day on a empty Wednesday in Telluride. I met Barb, I laughed until my sides hurt. To say it was a good trip is a slanderous beytral akin to 9/11 lol Adventure then was what this was all about and to do so now under such onerous living conditions is what it's all about. Formally then to everyone thank you ! Super shout out to Atomic for making this all happening and being the most finest host. Adventure is far easier to find then good people to do it with.20 points

Rode the gas line this am ....Snow didn't have a hint of crust...just fine Palmerton blower.....and pretty deep....Trail got the best of me(couple of falls) but I had a ton of fun...Reminded me of when I had to hike for every turn.....Skinned over to Blue and did a few laps....Had a beer with Mbike and Glen....Enjoralas and Saltyant were in the lot too...Pa has been a lot of fun this year...14 points

Or it must not have been this morning, because the crowds arrived super late. Hey, I’m back from a nice session at Blue Mountain the Thru Mountain. I arrived at about 8:40 this morning because I’m fat and lazy and like sleep a lot. Thankfully reports of the death of good skiing weather had been greatly exaggerated and it was some temperature betweeen 0 and 50 degrees at the base and a different temperature at the top, as evidenced by the fact that it felt different. In the house was JFDan, MBike, Indiggio, Tarponhead, Mixiplix, NaCl, Nastar Glenn and probably a bunch of others but like I said I got there super late. Even though I was 40 minutes past open I was only about 1/2 way down the row, so the crowds didn’t heed the opening bell either. Booted quickly and got in line for the 6, line was just about back to the spot where the nets end. The real end, not the spot Steeze drug them to yesterday. Played the single skier dance of shuffling into a line when Salty spotted me from the left VIP line and I shuffled some more so he could join me. He had already made 5-6 runs he said, and snow was good. Some rando invited himself on with us and we were both okay with it. He kept pretty good mask etiquette for the ride. We decided to ski down Sidewinder to the doubles as has been my MO most days by about 9am. I just find it easier when skiing solo or with Pops then trying to deal with the dance at the bottom. We made 7 runs off the Main st chair and never waited more than 4ish chairs except once when a Jerry/Geri couple left three chairs go empty as they prepared to board, and then Geri dropped her rental poles and they had to stop the lift and give them to the next chair. Can’t complain about lines like that on El Presidente Dimanche. We skied most everything you can off of the doubles, and Salty said he wanted to get in the glades so we did a Sleepy Hollow to Upper Main and I cut onto Switch while he missed the cut and ran main. After that we decided to carry speed into the Baumer glade and skied that. While in there Salty suggested pushing in deeper and we did a long meandering technical trek down some bike trails with semi-sketchy cover and ended up over on Sidewinder. Back to the double and we talked about Coming Soon. I hadn’t even seen it with snow in it yet so we decided to make our way tot he quad and run Paradise so I could stop at the intersection and check er out. So down Lazy to Sidewinder to Challenge to Falls to Homestretch we went and did just that. Could tell it was bumped up front the intersection and I don’t do bumps, but realized it might be another 4 years before it’s open again so it had to happen. Up the quad and had a fun fun down it, didn’t ski it well by any means and added to the free base grind I got on the bike trails earlier. Finished out Paradise and showed Salty a little pop out I like when there’s cover, skiers right down toward the bottom. Nothing gnarly, just a low pitch run, hard right, quick hairpin left and back to the piste around the last turn. Salty hadn’t skied around the features on NightWeaver yet this year so we did that and it sucked. Couldn’t find a flow. Had plans to finish with a run on Challenge, but on the bottom the quad was 7-8 people outside the gate and 6 just as bad so it was quitting time. Saw Mixi, MBike and Glenn (briefly) in the lot so popped another Mike’s and chatted. Salty said he was gonna go back out so I set up the Monsters for his BSL and told him to take a few rides on them. Mixi and MBike left, Salty and I got pizz, and I rolled out. He was having a great day, so maybe he’s still there. I really want to get a real night session in this week, but probably won’t. At the very least, ski y’all next weekend.13 points

Today was probably the best day I’ve had at Montage. Snow conditions were prime, soft western-style bumps were to be had, and all the trees were in play. It wasn’t as crowded as I had expected, which was also nice. Could have done without the mtn being socked in. This TR can’t hold a candle to AtomicJeff’s skifari in CO....but here are some pics anyways. Nice bumps on the right side of Smoke. View from the bottom. That right side forms a nice little chute. Shot of the North Face from Long Haul lift. I forgot my powder baskets, lol! Nice little drop in between upper fast track and runaway. More trees along Fast Track. Had to make sure to exit at the right time before getting cliffed out. It would be awesome if Montage would thin out this bowl btwn Boomer and White Lightning. Frozen mist was sticking to all the metal surfaces, and my goggles. Some rime ice frosting the trees at the top. My ride. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk9 points

Hike to. I made a few pow turns this AM before setting off for Montrose airport with @NMSKI. Was about 4” at the elevation I made it to. Some nasty weather enroute, but made it in 1h 45m. I was planning on running in Montrose but the weather was such shit. Weather looked better in CB so figured I’d run there. As soon as I left Montrose enroute to CB, the weather really improved. Sunny skies prevailed for most of the drive. Now at @Barb’s place in CB for the next few weeks.9 points

Later swapped into my RTMs to mess around off piste more, and skied under the Quad (top section) which I accessed from the woods to the left of Coming Soon. Exited by blasting along a narrow track on the hills to the right of P-Dizzle, which was a bit white knuckle as I was going fast. But made it out OK. Also skied under the Main Street/Burma chairs from Coming Soon Come Around and down, which was a blast!! The last part right before the lifts is mad steep and narrow, but I made it the whole run without falling. Overall a grate day and it was really fun doing a lot of stuff I've never done as it felt like a new mountain. Now time for SUJOPO. JADIP.7 points

I’m catching up on all of the PASR posts. These pictures and videos are absolutely amazing!! Cant wait to hear about it in the lot. The house was fun - If only we were able to get a photo of everyone wearing their matching hot tub robes on the stairs! @AtomicSkier @NMSKI@Johnny Law I wanted to replace the elk photo that was above the fireplace with a matching robe pic. So glad I got to meet the famous @Barb too! She’s even better in person. @GrilledSteezeSandwich- I don’t have a great trip report to post. I did some uphill touring on Tuesday-Thursday since I had work Before Telluride, I never really had a favorite ski resort. There were things I liked about certain resorts but I never got the full package until... Telluride. I left Telluride on Thursday and started to think about what it would take to live in a ski town like telluride. After 6.5 hours, I was in Denver again. I started my drive back east on Friday night and after 24 hours of driving I’m finally home in Pennsylvania. in some delusion on i-70, I decided to stop briefly in Casey, IL.... The home of the worlds largest wooden chair and largest wind chim, among other things 😂 I highly recommend you save your time. All vacations for 2021 are downhill from here especially in the Midwest. I hope to not drive anywhere for a very long time, except for an occasional trip to Bleu or to the wine store so I have something to drink while l catch up on your gnarly ski-fari adventures. Have fun!6 points

Shout out to Indiggio for texting me the road report and getting my a$$ outta bed. Skied 10-4:15. All runs on TCS, even last one when we loaded chair at 2 ticks before 4:00 and thought ski patrol would have TCS roped off but they must have forgotten about it and I was able to avoid having to ski some other trail than our private exclusive one. Glad Enjorales and Salty got the goods too. Amazing as it it seems, I had no urge to strangle Salty today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

Today was the funnest day I've had at True Bleu this season, maybe ever. Rolled in at 745 and made it to first in line at Gate 7 by 753. Earned first civilian chair and was very excite so I posted about it on PASR, but then my post got deleted due to an ongoing forum glitch. First run was Challenge which was mad steezy. Had the whole run to myself which was cray-cray as usually a bunch of PASRs are on it doing Mach 3.5. Goggles iced up like a mother which made it challenging to see on Challenge. I raised my goggles and then my eyes watered due to reaching hypersonic speed. Next did Switchback and it was an amazing smooth carpet, I think I saw titty glitter or whatever the saying is. It was Tits Boner McGee. Then met up with @enjoralas and we skied some mad technical glades. The run through the bike park glades between Lazy Mile and Sidewinder was the most difficult run I've ever done in PA, but we made it out and clinked our poles as a high five. This run should be called "WTF???" Afterward we messed around various trails, going in and out of woods and I did some grate side whoop-de-doos. I really enjoyed the short cut thru the woods off Paradise. Then Enjoralas did Coming Soon for the first time and it was my second time. Nice moe ghouls, just a bit of thin cover in some spots but not bad at all. After we hung out in the lot for a bit and talked to MBikeMike, Mixilplix and Nastar Glenn about Mantras and Kendos, and Enjoralas and I went for some delicious wood fired pizza. He got pepperoni and I ordered buffalo steeze pizza. Then Enjoralas was nice enough to lend me his Monster 108's. Thanks!! I did 2 runs on Paradise and 1 on Lazy Mile. Felt much better in the chop on Lazy than my RTMs, and I cut right thru it and wasn't getting tossed around. But they are beasts and a lot more effort to move around, as I like doing short turns. I would really enjoy them on a Perder day or in spring time chop. Also rode the quad a few times with @indiggio and @tarponhead as they continued to lap Coming Soon, and I didn't even get strangled yet.6 points

Conditions were nice, the freezing fog sucked on the goggles. Since i wasnt diggin the low vis issues, i cut out around 9:15 or so in favor of getting home early to take care of some things starting to stack up at home. saw Mix on the side of the road on my way out breaking his board in half.5 points

Everything worked as it should....Only small issue was a small amount of snow got between the skin and the board on the side of one of the tips...not much at all though....I really was surprised how good the snow was...All fluff...no crust anywhere...Haven't done anything like that in a long time...Got caught out a bunch of times but it was soooooo fun....Thanks man!5 points

I also have the slide guide 2, hopefully I’ll be able to get one or two of them this winter as well. The Thunderbolt is the furthest south in any of the books, knowing that area has been doing quite well with the last few storms it seemed like a no brainer. This shit I’d addictive, I need to start planning the next one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

One hour from NYC is Snow Bowl Ski Area. Opened in 1964 and closed in 1974 the area had a big three story lodge, tavern, two double chairs and snowmaking on 400 vertical feet. After the owners sold the area expansion plans were formed but warm winters and a fire that destroyed the lodge would result in the area's closure. Unique among lost areas is that Snow Bowl is still actively skied. Locals keep the liftlines and several trails open for gladed riding when conditions permit. If there is snow its a really fun place to bag turns.4 points

What a great start to the Road Trip. It’s been a fun week with @skiincy @Barb @Johnny Law @NMSKI so far. My first Tride day was a perfect blue bird day. The boys first day at Telluride was an unexpected 10” diamond dust powder day. Silverton was fucking boner doner tits mcgee. @NMSKI said he even saw titty sparkles. I plan on skiing a few pow runs tomorrow AM before heading to the airport with @NMSKI, going for a run in Montrose, and then heading to @Barb’s place in Crested Butte. I’ll be there for the next 3+ weeks. I’m hoping to see @mute1080 at some point. My buddy Tom is also flying out for a few days. After that, Aspen most likely. And to finish this off, it wasn’t perfect powder skiing at Silverton. On the lower part of the heli drop, a tree ripped my pole right out of my hand. I wasn’t pleased.4 points

Wow what a way to end a just about perfect ski trip. Skied open to close with a little burrito break in there. Started off the morning with some really fun groomers, then skied some very fun bumps with @AtomicSkier. The sun was trying to come out for a minute and we headed over to revelation bowl to see if it was nice over there. Skiers left was just about the flattest light you could imagine and was practically vertigo inducing. Did another run down the right side which was much nicer. Even a few semi fresh turns in there. We came back up the revelation lift and we noticed the gate to the gold hill chutes was open. @Johnny Lawand I skied gold hill 1 which was very nice up top with an extremely sporty exit. Next up we decided to take a walk. Took prospect express up and took the skis off and headed up the hike to access black iron bowl and palmyra basin. Took us about 35 minutes and a couple sketchy climbs then we decided to ski mountain quail, which I’d had my eye on from afar all week. Huuuuge cornice then nice soft steep snow all the way into palmyra basin. Next up we decided to hike bald mountain which was more challenging of a hike than I expected due to no boot pack for part of the way and post holing in deep snow at one point. At the top we were treated to knee deep untouched blower. I guess that area doesn’t get skied much. In the afternoon we did some fun groomers. Now beer o clock. Law in Gold Hill 1 The climb to Mountain Quail and looking down untouched pow on bald mountain before law wrecks it and law subsequently slaying it4 points

Started from the Hamburg reservoir parking lot. Bunch of cars. Lots of folks walking their dogs and taking the AT up to Pulpit Rock and the Pinnacle. Hiked straight up the Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society/cell tower access road. Not a hard hike at all. There was a solid boot pack about two feet wide the whole way up. Go of the boot pack and you sunk in to your knees. The entire rest of the road surface was deep powder for long stretches. Saw one set of tracks from somebody else with the same idea, and one guy came ripping down from the far side of the reservoir on my hike up. Way to get at it. Strapped in at the observatory then started down. Was a sweet run. Passed a couple groups of folks coming up. I waved. The pitch is really easy. If it were a groomed trail it would be a green "easiest way down" the mountain sort of trail. Could really lay into any big turns but still felt great to float on down for 800 vertical feet. Ate some Trader Joes blueberry fig newton bars then got back to the car. Up and down, including some time taking in the view at Pulpit Rock totaled 2 hours. Not bad at all. So far this year I've bagged three powder days, all hike-to and avoided resorts in the process. Will definitely be doing more hiking for turns in the future as it feels great, is free and you have pow practically to yourself.3 points

Looks like 8-16” in Crested Butte thru tomorrow night. Hope your drive isn’t too bad. Driving home yesterday I didn’t see asphalt the first 2 hours and Monarch Pass was white knuckle conditions. Husband was very pleased I was home to take over dog walking duty since it was -5 this morning.3 points

Thanks Indiggio! I always have the most fun doing more challenging terrain than I'm used to. If the roads are good tomorrow morning I think I'll practice bumps on Coming Soon most of the time, particularly early on when the quad line isn't long. The line wasn't that bad when we rode together, but by 2 pm the VIP line stretched well beyond the gates and it was a bit too long for me, so I headed over to the doubles which had much shorter lines. I stayed 'til about 3:30 and would have skied a bit more but was too thirsty.2 points

Woke up this morning to find that no freezing precip had occurred overnight as predicted, so another spectacular day at Blue!! One run down Challenge to start because they weren't loading the quad and the rest of the day spent lapping the bumps, rocks and woods of Coming Soon. Even had the pleasure of riding the lift with @saltyant a few times as he tried out @enjoralas Monsters. Wow @saltyant WTGAI expanding your terrain repertoire, impressive!2 points

I had to watch a safety video at cameltoe for skiing a closed run in 1996..there was like 18” of new snow and only Marjorie’s delight and another run I think justin Timberlake or Julius Caesar salad was open. They spotted me and my friend through binoculars. After we watched the safety video they issued us new tickets. Was already like 1 or 2pm but back then I always skied till 5 or whenever the day pass expired.2 points

I ordered this book at the beginning of the pandemic not knowing the outlook of the season and I started studying. The goal is to check off all of the lines eventually. Huge props to mbike-ski for joining and leaving his house at 3am to make an early push for the summit. Started today with Mount Graylock and skiing the Thunderbolt Race Trail that was built by the CCC in the 1930’s. This was a class A race trail and has a ton of history, there is so much ski history in the north east. This is a great video on the Thunderbolt if you have any interest. We met at the trail head ~730 and it was a warm 5 degrees, till we got skins on and booted up we could not feel our fingers. We took our time on the skin up and made the summit in about 3 hours, chilled at the summit for a bit then started our way down. The snow was great and the skiiing was supper fun natural soft bumps the whole way down. Ended the day with about 6.5 miles and 2600’ of vert. I’m ready for the next one! Done and claimed View from the trail head to the summit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Sorry to let you down! It lightly snowed all day and lighting wasn’t too good for pics but it was a really fun day. Did a bunch of groomers with an inch of fresh on top and skied some steep bumps under the plunge lift a couple of laps as well. Law and I explored town for a bit after skiing and was a great day overall. Here are some lifestyle shots since the phone didn’t come out while skiing.2 points

Since I like Volkl my preference is either Kendo 88 or Mantra 96. Not sure what other Volkls would suit me... Kendo 88s are short of Enjoralas's recommended range of 95-105.... but skis.com says "Kendo comes with crud blasting and edge grip abilities thanks to the lightweight but rigid Titanal Frame that encases the core". Mantra 96s are too advanced ski for my ability, a few people have said. But I might demo it anyways. Sooo I'll probably demo these 2 and maybe Nordica Enforcer 94 and Head Kore 93 and see what the verdict is. TFTI1 point

Hey All, I’m back from a fun and long day at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 720am and a minute later the random employee park facing the wrong way in the row. I saw Mrs Snowbunski early on who parks out in Kansas. The temperature was in the low 20s under overcast sky’s and also in the house were Toast, JFDan, Mute, Ryan, Boo Bear, PARidge, Mixiliplix, Salty, Schifdawg, Enjorales, Indiggio, Tarpenhead, Eddie, Falco, Charles and many more. Got my new mounted up skis and booted up fast enough to make front row of the gates. Gates opened and my pole got caught in the net and took it down like a long section and I was able to extract my pole from the netting with my fingers but not before missing both the first and second civilian six packs. First run down challenge was nice firm packed powder...I skied it a second time then Main Street which was softer packed powder on the top and a little semi light chop lower down. Switchback was also nice and I managed an empty run on that. Sidewinder was nice until the last section which had some icy spots and lower lazy was nice snow but busy. I skied a run on the nightmare to dreamweaver park and with flat light and a ton of features was just ok. Also skied tuts lane to connector to lower widowmaker to midway to little gap to Burma to shuttle to lower park. I wanted to ski another run but lines were getting long. Nice parking lot with some beers and chips and even a jack daniels lemon honey drink thanks to Schifdawg. Back in October I had my starter replaced on my car due to a recall and on cold mornings the car doesn’t like starting and sometimes takes an extra try. Well the inevitable happened today and my car would not start. I got a tow company from lehighton to come within an hour and the guy was really nice and I enjoyed some pizza while I waited but the it wasn’t the battery as the battery pack didn’t help and he tried one or two other trucks to no avail. In the meantime i called Ciocca Subaru in Allentown to have my car taken in and set up a loaner car. Then tried to get an uber but none were available after a few attempts. I called my friend Steph up and she came up from allentown and gave me a ride. As it was her first time at Blue it took awhile for her to get there and so I called Ciocca subaru back to say that I wasn’t gonna make it in time before they closed so set up loaner for Monday at 740am. My friend initially went into ski patrol Main Street chair employee lot but found me at lower lot. Was super nice of her to give me a ride and shes having dinner with a friend tonight so I gave her a $100 and said dinner was on me which she appreciated. So now back at hotel house carless and skiless. I left for the true mountain with one ski boot and returned with none..JADIP1 point
