I woke up early this morning since it was snowing and had a big drive to Monarch and they were reporting 1 inch as of 5:30, but it dumped for a few hours and we had a nice 6” of fresh in the morning and major dumpage from late morning through the rest of the day. Lots of nice powder turns and the first pow day my kids have experienced. What a cool little mountain Monarch is. It’s not that big and has small vert but the vibe was amazing and there was some really fun terrain. Nice steep runs from the top of panorama along the continental divide and some nice trees as well. I hiked Mirkwood, which is the “side country” area there and between the fresh and wind deposited snow I was getting knee deep in spots. It was awesome to see my kids get the hang of skiing powder and everyone is pooped!11 points

Had another sunny spring day at Wolf Creek today. Things started softening up in the sun at about 10:30 am. I skied some with the family and went for a few nice walks along the ridges by myself too. I made the long hike all the way out to Horseshoe Bowl just to say I did it even though the snow there wasn’t great. The staircase up to the knife ridge was a cool experience. Did another hike/traverse into Montezuma Bowl which had really nice snow surprisingly. I never really thought about it, but the Alberta lift area is basically one huuuge glade and is so much fun to explore. Skied a lot of spring bumps today as well. Tomorrow we’re going to Monarch and looking like maybe a pow day on Friday.4 points

All the times i've skied at basin i don't think i've ever skied moonshine bowl. Whenever I'm over on the strawberry side of the mountain I usually end up traversing out into sisters or around the back of demoisy to get into middle bowl. I believe WFO is where @toast21602 had one of the best crashes I've ever seen and then affectionately named that zone "Sticky Ditch". A few inches of fresh snow followed by 40° and sunny makes your skis stop pretty quick...3 points

Anything is possible, but most large users would negotiate a rate per KWH. My brother worked for a firm that did this for Whitetail, Liberty, and roundtop, long before they got Vailed. If they are trying to meet a #, why would they be shutting down the quad on busy evenings? Not running both doubles.....etc.3 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 720am and the temperature was in the mid 20s under mostly cloudy sky’s with a few graupel pellets coming down. In the house were Ryan, Mute, BenM and C1er. The six pack was having some initial issues so began on the quad and mostly stuck with that lift. I skied challenge first top was good lower not so good then razors a few runs and razors was great early on...almost packed powder. Switchback was good and nice soft cord...sidewinder had some cookies on the last pitch and no root rollers. As time went on the fresh cord on some of the runs turned to mini cookies..no liftlines and the temperature was pleasant. All in all it was a nice session and I even ended on lazy mile which I haven’t skied in a week or two. JADIP..time to make the weekend roll call thread.2 points

That’s crazy that the lodge was named after two members of the Beatles. Is there also a George and ringo lodge?2 points

100% spot on. I just ripped that run and yelled WOOHOO. So much fun. I'm going to rent performance skis tomorrow. A shop has Elan Ripsticks 90ish width for $35. I'm not ready to buy skis just yet and that'll do for one day. If I can find Nordica Enforcers for the same price or less I'll rent those2 points

❤️ almost everything off that Strawberry gondola. Main Street is usually a good ripper too, and just a tad better than the one at Blue.2 points

Ikon college is $549. Blue pass is $599. Looking like I might do 2 passes for next season. Still think the Blue pass is priced higher than it should be..2 points

Don’t be hating on ukelele or I’ll bring mine to Gaper Day. I can’t play it at all, which would make it even better.2 points

Enjoy Snowbasin today! Don't forget to take the Allen tram to the peak and take the Grizzly groomer from top to bottom. It was the olympic downhill course from 2002 and it is a hoot! https://www.skimag.com/ski-resort-life/olympic-downhill-courses-at-snowbasin/2 points

I hope there is a selfie that will eventually be displayed of Salty at the Great Salt Lake in Salt Lake city. Would be iconic.2 points

Someone was speculating in the lot this weekend that as a large volume power user they have a contract to use a certain amount of power to get their rate, and with the great winter and them not making as much snow we may see more than usual down the stretch as they push to meet a number.2 points

Spring skiing was in full effect today and we had a great time. Kids did a 3 hour private lesson which was pretty much a mountain tour and they loved it. The instructor let them hike one of the ridges and ski off it and they now think their shit doesn’t stink. I did a few of the main favorites, Alberta face, glory hole, and even did the 25 minute hike to the top of Alberta peak and skied chute 5. Skied a bunch of bumps with my son in the afternoon. All in all it was a great day.1 point

Strange to say but if you like Basin thank one mittens Romney. When the Olympics got all fucked up he got major money to bail them out and Basin got alot of nice shit with mittens money. I like go up the tram out no name and ride the trees back to the trolley parking lot. OB so be careful but it's like lift service slack with a butler that picks you up and takes you back to the base.1 point

Looks like you had great conditions! I have only been there once years ago but remember it being empty and a nice vibe as you said. You know CB is only 90 min away, you should surprise Jeff.1 point

Better. Lower crowds, longer runs, fancier lodges, more gondolas, wider runs, free wifi in lodges, no lines, free water, cool sun logo, and fancier stalls to make toilet1 point

Ikon Base pass is not even worth considering for me - even disregarding holiday black outs as definitely would use all 7 days at Windham with it being by far the closest option. Leaning towards full Ikon over ORDA pass though - especially due to it covering a CO trip too.1 point

Another radically fun day at Brighton. Skied groomers all morning which were pristine and enjoyable. Then went off the cat tracks a bit here and there to enjoy the soft ungroomed snow. Today was a 12/10 Going to do some touristy things this afternoon- maybe find out where the bathhouses are for Mormon soakings.1 point

That reminds me of a funny story... I usually pay for most of my friend's meals when I'm out there since he hooks me up with lift tickets, and I can stay for free with him in Steamboat when I go there...we were out at a nicer restaurant/brewery in Silverthorne one night for dinner and the waiter asked about separate checks. I said "nah, we're together" (not really thinking about what I said). The waiter was like "oh uh I'm sorry I didn't want to assume anything" (meaning he thought my buddy was my boyfriend). I made sure to keep it weird and I went as far as to smack my friend's ass when we were leaving while the waiter was watching 🤣1 point
