Pretty fun day on snow! Did some magic carpet laps in the AM and the kiddo is starting to figure out how to stop on her own. Luckily still fascinated by the magic carpet. Dropped her off at my parents for lunch and a nap and went back up for some sunny slush laps. Main was a bit sticky, but everything else was soft and still reasonably fast. 2nd jump in central is still really fun. Got a few grabs back that I haven’t done with any spins in a while, might be time to take it past 360° again now that it’s warm and sunny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Blue mountain the true mountain. In the house was everybody except Johnny Law, NMSki, Mute, Falco, Enjorales cousin, Ryan, PSYFlyGuy, Zonked, Mart Edge, VTMarknand Kyle. The temperature was in the upper 20s when I arrived at 715am and Salty was parked in the wrong row hoping the ski shop would open early. First civilian chair full six pack challenge was smooth but a little chattery..Main Street and lazy had fresh manmade and sidewinder softened nicely in the sun, paradise was fast and empty. First 45 minutes or so the quad was down and amazing how long the line for the six pack was because of it. Not crazy but an almost full corral. Once the quad started running lines tapered down. Coverage is anazing consifering the 70 degree weather we just experienced and the sun was bright. I enjoyed some chips, fruit snacks and pizza in the lot and beer and got to chill with Wally a little. JADIP6 points

It’s been one full year since this post. What a wild ride it’s been. Glad to see that everyone here has remained healthy through it all. The conversation in here has definitely changed over the last year and now with vaccines coming out more quickly there is definitely some bright light at the end of the tunnel. Here’s to making it a year, and hopefully never starting a thread like this again 🍻6 points

The best I saw was my final tank coming home, where I was up at 31.4mpg, despite driving just as fast, but more aggresssively? My worst was going across Kansas on the way out there, where it was down at 26.5mpg. For comparison I was at 28.5 across Kansas coming home. Overall, my fuel economy was better east of the Mississippi both directions. Probably a combination of lower elevation and slightly lower speed limits. Overall was high 28s with the roof box on. Not bad. I will usually do 30-31mpg without the box on.4 points

You can always find a bigger mountain and better snow.....but can you find anything better than hangin with all the misfits at Blue?3 points

@saltyant was ripping his new skis today. Waiting for a written report of his thoughts on them at Blue the True instead of Snowbasin.3 points

If you’re in 1A, check wegmans at Tuesday at 11am. They release appointments at that time. It goes quickly but everyone I’ve told has been able to snatch an appointment. use your computer, not your phone. The mobile version gets glitchy on Tuesdays when they have appointments. https://www.wegmans.com/covid-vaccine-registration/3 points

Well ... thanks for a great time @skiincy @Barb @NMSKI @Johnny Law @mute1080. After some change of plans (and a shortening of the trip), @mute1080 and I left @Barb's house at 6:02am, enroute to the Gunnison airport for @mute1080's return flight. I pointed the car due east from there, with the goal of reaching the St Louis airport for a quick night sleep. After 15h of driving, covering 1060 miles, I arrived. Few hours sleep, I was back on the road at 5am, needing to cover another 870 miles to my house. It took >14 hours on the way out there from my house to STL, so I was determined to cut that down. Even with some stop and go traffic in the Harrisburg area, I made the trip in 12h and 55m. Elapsed time from CB to my house was 34h 55m. It's time for some bourbon, and a good night sleep. The good/bad/ugly to come ... Coming over the top of Monarch Pass yesterday AM ... Some nice scenery on US 50 heading towards Colorado Springs... Leaving CO 😔3 points

You passed me on the edge of The Falls and I saw you catch mad air. WTGAI. New skis were very fun on Challenge once it softened up a bit by 9 am. I think I'll enjoy them on any groomed run so I don't really have any thoughts on skiing them at Blue vs. Snowbasin. I went out for seconds around noon, and Challenge was still really nice but there were some icy spots. While the Jerries were falling left and right, I was still ripping down on my Ripsticks and the ice didn't really bother me like it did on the RTMs, JADIP Ice is Nice2 points

I always thought that flights or drives home from west to east were quicker because of the rotation of the Earth. In other words when going west to east the Earth is spinning the opposite way from the direction you're moving...thereby saving you time and doing you a solid. When going east to west it takes longer because you're going with the Earth's rotation, therefore taking longer.1 point

I feed 7 outside cats. Last year at this time there were 3. The year before that there were 2. Didn't want 15-20 cats here this summer!1 point

12 hours/720 minutes until I pick up my new skis from True Blue, and 12.5 hours/750 minutes until I'm on the 6 pack getting ready to rip down Razor's Edge or Sidewinder on them for the first time. Gonna be hard to sleep tonight, it's New Skis Eve.1 point

Completed a short/quick session at Brighton. Only did 5 runs off of Milly, before ending my first day( nice thing above the weekday season pass). Snow was very nice and soft, but crowds were heavier than I felt like dealing with due to the recent snow and being Friday. I'm also tried after a long travel day after working in the morning before heading off to my 2pm flight at Newark(awake for 21 hours before getting to my hotel). Current plans for the rest of the trip ... Sleep/relax today, Powder Mountain on Saturday, maybe Sundance on Sunday (or disc golf somewhere), and Brighton monday-friday before flying home on Saturday. ( I will not try to top any other previous reports, but hope to at least post a few pictures)1 point

I returned my rental car and dragged my 45 lb. ski bag and 25 lb. carry on (both with wheels) to an elevator up to the terminal... which was fine. But upon arrival at the check in area, there's Delta, Delta, Delta, Alaskan... no American Airlines check in. No signs for other airlines' check ins either. WTF. So I walk to baggage claim and find an information kiosk and she says to drag my bags up an escalator to American. OK So there's American's check in area. The only problem is... the touch screens to check in are slow as molasses!! I push a button, wait 20 seconds... push another useless button, wait 20 seconds... and so on. Is the software running on 16 MB of RAM and DOS 3.0? Finally after what seemed like an eternity I got my bag ticket. Back down the escalator and to security line. Well the line's moving, but only one problem about the queue set up: If this is annoying to look at, it was much more annoying to walk through. Like a stupid pointless maze that just keeps turning and turning and turning and turning. Honestly, really, does it need to be that long if there isn't a lot of people??? I guess the number of people fluctuates throughout the day and it would be too much work for security to constantly rearrange the queue. But honestly, I got pretty dizzy. Now we get to the bins, and boy is it stupid. I put my bags in the 2 red squares. But then nothing else is opening up so I put my shoes etc. in the 2 orange squares: Then I have Karen whining, "Salty, you already took up the red squares at #5. Why are you taking up the orange squares at #4?" I didn't respond and made the "I don't fucking know what's going on I just want to get out of here" face and hand gestures. Apparently the system takes bins at different speeds depending on what one you got stuck with, and I wasn't waiting for my 2 bins above the red squares to open up. Hell no. Then my bags don't come out together: one here, then a rando's, another rando's, oh there's another of mine, then wait, wait, wait, wait, nope not mine. Ok finally there it is. 15 minutes later. Ok finally I can go to the gate. Almost done. But wait. I'm in concourse B. Instead of being well designed layout like most airports: SLC is like this: So you walk, and you walk, and walk. Then after concourse A there's a long escalator down, then a long hall with a few conveyer belts, but the damn sign still says "7 minute walk to concourse B". Then walk, walk, up another escalator, and finally at concourse B. 20 minutes later. Finally, I get to my gate, and there's a gate change... but it's only 1 gate down so I'm happy 😎 Had a delicious buffalo chicken wrap and then another one since it was delish1 point
