  3. Ski season up here took its time arriving then dumped four feet on us all at once and it was so much snow you couldn't move the first day. For a few days all the backcountry rock stars from up around Stowe were down here in little ol' Brownsville because Ascutney got hammer-slammered with powder in a storm that didn't go much further north than White River Junction. You never saw so many Sprinter vans and Labrador retrievers in our parking lot. Then two weeks later it rained and washed ALL of that snow away and that's how Vermont winter rolls. Then February arrived and kept giving and giving and it was amazing. Nobody could stand the Epic-Pass lines at Okemo (even weekdays were nuts) so we did lots of AT skiing on Ascutney. I work 24-hour shifts and have way more days off than my friends, so I taught myself to snowboard. Got some snowshoes and earned my turns and bruised my tailbone. I can ride a T-bar on the board no problem but still can't figure out how to get off a chairlift without it looking like a disaster from an I Love Lucy episode. I'm drinking coffee this morning and waiting for the New Yorkers to go home so I can get in some springy-soft runs at Okemo this afternoon. Here are some random pics from this season: One day it was all glare ice on Ascutney after some rain, and we were all bummed not to be able to ski. Then around 3pm the guy who runs the groomer decided to make some passes, so we followed him around for a little sunset touring and fresh corduroy: N The community T-bar runs until 4pm weekends then it clears out fast. I had a firepit and a whole powdery mountain to myself lots of evenings. Skinning up near the top of Ascutney is great fun and the snow was unbelievable last month: I retired from teaching and work as an EMT for a fire department, so I drive a fire engine now. This is so much more fun than grading papers and I have five days off every week!

  4. When I was skiing, I caught a couple pics of a guy wearing denim jeans & a duster jacket while mono skiing. conditions were fun, and it’s my last day at Bleu for the season, so I skiied more. I even found Waldo. If you zoom in, you can see the party happening in the aisle. This was probably around the time of some PASRs were eating meat and singing karaoke And of course, the iconic @enjoralasin his element, doing what he’s great at. Wally, also doing what he loves. Hanging in the lot and begging for someone to accidentally drop meat.

  8. Had a shit ton of fun today. The beef on the salt block may have been the best thing I've ever eaten. I'm serious. Everything was amazing actually. Oh and the skiing was good too.

  17. Come to Okemo on a weekend if you want to wait on 30-minute lines with 300 New Yorkers. Epic Pass resorts have been a cluster this year. Skip Stratton and go to Magic. Up north, don't forget Bolton Valley; underrated. I can't wait to see the thread on Salty trying to choose powder skis!

  18. Absolutely, LV is a hotbead. The Sasso match was tough. I like how Iowa won the team title, but half of their team is from PA. My parents always liked wrestling. My parents went to Lock Haven College and I know they used to take me to matches as a kid( back when the PSAC schools all had good wrestling programs). In the end I'm a PSU fans in everything

  19. This one was pretty bad. A fighter jet clipped the wire of a cable car in Europe sending 20 people plummeting to their deaths. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavalese_cable_car_disaster_(1998)

  22. In all seriousness, today was excellent. Razors was ROTD all day long, parking lot was a lot of fun, the company in the lot was even better. Thanks @enjoralas and @JFskiDan for cooking the food and thanks to everyone else for providing a good time. Top 3 day for me for sure.

  27. i was thinking that. the closest one off the top of my head is at the mahoning valley exit, not exactly close. i think it'd be up top tho.

  28. I’ve always followed just because of living in the LV and my family friend wrestled for Lehigh so we always went to those matches and EIWAs. PSU was never a contender back then. I’m not loyal to any team but I enjoy watching local kids on the big mat this tournament. Sasso is from Nazareth and ended up as runner up tonight at 149.

  29. I was never a wrestling fan, but have grown to really enjoy,,( As a kid I played bball so we didn't like each other... Haha) I think with PSU still being pretty young they didn't really capture the bonus points that put the over the top in past years. Will be fun watching the next few years

  30. I think with the Big Cottonwood area, it would need to be an Airbnb. Now Brighton does have a small 'motel' by the Crest lift, but I'm sure it is tough to get a room. Nice.. Herber City! Home of Cael Sanderson!... And I'm sure most people don't care, but PSU was/is dominant in the NCAA wrestling Finals tonight(4 for 4)

  33. Lots of rumors flying around today that it's a done deal, with Barb holding onto like 10%. Heard that both Camelback and Blue were bought by the same company, which would coincide with EPR. Also heard that hotel is also a go, but conflicting reports as to whether or not it'll be in the valley or up top.

  44. I rode Sullivan Lift several times on Tuesday. It was running but kept stopping for no apparent reason, so I got fed up and moved to Stevenson which didn't stop. I don't know much about chair lifts and maintenance required, but this appears highly irresponsible. WTF?
