  1. Skied 545-715 with the fam. 62° when we arrived and 58° leaving with super soft snow. Got a fist bump from @antman12on our way out to the snow and the rest of the hill was empty. Most likely the last day of the season for my little one so it was nice way to end it.

  3. Yesterday was what its all about, super fun, sun and dope ass eats. My ass came home and promptly passed the fuck out. Enjo as always what a feast ! Nobody anywhere at a ski area eats like we do and the smoker in the truck is all time. BenM that top tier shenanigans and way to rock the long straight skinny skis. To everyone, its been a weird year but we fuckiny rocked the shit out of this season like true Detroit players.

  5. Ski season up here took its time arriving then dumped four feet on us all at once and it was so much snow you couldn't move the first day. For a few days all the backcountry rock stars from up around Stowe were down here in little ol' Brownsville because Ascutney got hammer-slammered with powder in a storm that didn't go much further north than White River Junction. You never saw so many Sprinter vans and Labrador retrievers in our parking lot. Then two weeks later it rained and washed ALL of that snow away and that's how Vermont winter rolls. Then February arrived and kept giving and giving and it was amazing. Nobody could stand the Epic-Pass lines at Okemo (even weekdays were nuts) so we did lots of AT skiing on Ascutney. I work 24-hour shifts and have way more days off than my friends, so I taught myself to snowboard. Got some snowshoes and earned my turns and bruised my tailbone. I can ride a T-bar on the board no problem but still can't figure out how to get off a chairlift without it looking like a disaster from an I Love Lucy episode. I'm drinking coffee this morning and waiting for the New Yorkers to go home so I can get in some springy-soft runs at Okemo this afternoon. Here are some random pics from this season: One day it was all glare ice on Ascutney after some rain, and we were all bummed not to be able to ski. Then around 3pm the guy who runs the groomer decided to make some passes, so we followed him around for a little sunset touring and fresh corduroy: N The community T-bar runs until 4pm weekends then it clears out fast. I had a firepit and a whole powdery mountain to myself lots of evenings. Skinning up near the top of Ascutney is great fun and the snow was unbelievable last month: I retired from teaching and work as an EMT for a fire department, so I drive a fire engine now. This is so much more fun than grading papers and I have five days off every week!

  7. Hey All, I just booked my airfare for my Colorado skifari in three weeks. Airfare has actually got up a little on southwest but I had some credit to apply to this and with early bird check in my out of pocket is $99 roundtrip for direct flights from Philly to Denver. Just have to book rental car and hotel now. I’m psyched to finally go somewhere after 14 months of being in PA...I’ll use this thread to post updates of my trip and as many of you know from my past Colorado skifaris...it dumps when I’m out there...

  9. Hey All, I’m back from another nice morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at about 820am but lingered around for awhile until Atomic Jeff arrived...still managed first chair. In the house was also C1er, Volkmer and BethlehemFordGuy. Temperatures began in the upper 30s and rose quickly through the 40s. Razors was nice smooth hardpack, challenge and sidewinder were similar. Only the six pack was running on the east side and perhaps a 10 chair wait at the maximum. I managed 8 runs in 70 minutes including a sidewinder to lower lazy to keep things progressive then hungout in the lower lot for another half hour or so prolonging going into work. Was nice and tomorrow should be very similar. Even warmer later in the week but also the threat of rain. JADIP

  11. What a day yesterday. That's what it's all about. Absolutely everything was perfect yesterday. PASR party day is easily one of my top 5 days of the entire year, including Christmas.

  15. I know. it just bugs me that people are quick to jump on FB, especially a Blue fanboy, that has no interest in ever skiing Camelback, but feels he likes to see his name on the internet or something. No reason in the world for that guy to post there other than to stir shit up. #1 priority is the people affected by this. Not making shithouse comments on FB.

  18. Since I have a couple minutes to kill here at Blue waiting to boot up I’ll post a little report from yesterday. I arrived at the lower lot at around 715am and already about a half dozen PASRs in the house. I had a donut, a couple mimosas, a couple beers and a breakfast sandwich then hit the snow around 9am. It was mainly loose and frozen granuler conditions and I skied Razors, challenge, sidewinder paradise and Main street. I also had my first lift beer of the season. Back to the lot and i had three shots of peanut butter whiskey, more beer and had roast beef, strip steak, brisket, a slider and a few other things. I’m looking forward to losing some weight this ski season was not kind to my portly figure with a lot of Sheetz, McDonald’s breakfasts and chic Fil A to and from Blue along with a lot of beer and jack Daniels. Music ranged from 90s music to rap my favorite was the my neck my back my pussy and my crack...that song is a banger. I didn’t go out for a second session as I was pretty intoxicated and wasn’t feeling it. Sobered up with white girl seltzer...rapped a little, danced a little...drank a lot of water and Gatorade on the drive home..I wanted Rita’s but the line was pretty long. All in all it was a fun PASR party day and basically everybody but Root and Phillycore were there. I had to remind myself a few times that it wasn’t closing day. JADIP...

  24. You’re just being a contrarian. I imagine the long term effects of you getting Covid wouldn’t be good for your bike riding.

  25. It just boggles the mind that one would not get the vaccine because there *might* be long term side effects, but at the same time would protect you against a virus that *does* have long term side effects. The logic is flawed.
    3 points
  26. Well if you aren’t getting it, it would make you anti vaccine. Hence that label.

  27. Try putting that in a statement to the public. Best to err on the side of caution even if its overkill for the time being. Bring somebody in to look over the Stevenson and say it's all good before restarting. Will help assuage some people.

  28. Exactly. It wasn't like the chair fell off because they didn't load properly. What was an extra lift attendant going to do? Ride the rope and hold the chair on the line?

  30. Mostly, except that time my bro banned me arbitrarily, or says that I have to camp at least 0.5 miles away, or yelled at me for being a gaper and putting the bar down on him (but then gave me high five for stoke 2 minutes later), or said STFU on the lift with @GrilledSteezeSandwich when we were talking nonstop during a night skiing sesh. But he did give me a Truly so we're bros now 😎

  34. There could be many reasons camelback hasn’t addressed this publicly yet, the main one being the legal aspect of it all. I can almost guarantee their legal team has been advising the PR department on how to handle this since shortly after it happened.

  35. I sent a new tips to WNEP and 2 philly stations. WNEP wrote back and said "we're working on this story today." So, there will probably be something out today.

  36. Correct. EPR bought the Vail properties before Vail bought the ski operations. EPR buys the property and leases it back to the operators. They are a real estate investment company. That provides capital for new lifts and other improvements. I think they also own a lot of the Boyne properties and other non skiing resort properties.

  38. I can't believe there is no news story about this yet other than LiftBlog guy's reporting. Camelback doing a good job hiding it so far...

  39. I would be very surprised if that is accurate. I would think that the accident would have to be investigated and the lift thoroughly inspected before the Department of Labor and Industry and Camelbacks insurance company would let that lift run again.

  40. Blue's Comet lift is pretty much the same age 1994 except Poma. Challenge is 2006 Poma and Tomahawk at Shawnee is 2010 Doppelmayer. I would expect Camelback to only run fixed grips for the rest of the season considering Stevenson is essentially the same lift one year older. FWIW Shawnee's high speed lift seems to be in much better condition (smoother, cleaner, faster, newer, and more reliable) than any of the others around here. I am wondering why Camelback runs this lift all summer rather than one of the parallel and easier to maintain fixed grips. Edit: oh hi btw long time lurker first time poster

  44. When I was skiing, I caught a couple pics of a guy wearing denim jeans & a duster jacket while mono skiing. conditions were fun, and it’s my last day at Bleu for the season, so I skiied more. I even found Waldo. If you zoom in, you can see the party happening in the aisle. This was probably around the time of some PASRs were eating meat and singing karaoke And of course, the iconic @enjoralasin his element, doing what he’s great at. Wally, also doing what he loves. Hanging in the lot and begging for someone to accidentally drop meat.

  45. I'm not a lawyer but I read and deal with a lot of contracts at work regarding liability. I wouldn't think the responsibility code applies to lifts. Skiers have a responsibility to ski in control and avoid obvious and common obstacles. The ski areas have a responsibility to provide safe lifts. Skiers have a reasonable expectation that the lifts are safe. That said; all machines can have unexpected break downs regardless of the how carefully they are maintained. Parts are inspected but some flaws are not seeable to the naked eye like hair line cracks or internal flaws in a casting. In today's litigious enviorment no doubt someone will pay. But until the experts including the lift manufacturer determine the cause I would not automatically blame Camelback. And unfounded rumors like someone dying should not be repeated and should be deleted. And I'm no Camelback fanboy.

  46. I can't imagine there is any kind of protection in the waiver for catastrophic failure of a chairlift. You assume some risks when at a ski resort but that is absolutely not one of them.
