Solid season up here, a later start and unusual because: It snowed a lot in January and ,not unusual, a good part of February. We didn't have roller coaster temps, for the most part it maintained in the teens and 20's, a few single digits, but no rain or torch weather. That pattern did not allow for the normal freeze/thaw to build up a solid uber hardpack foundation, so when it warmed up and got sunny it cooked the snow on both sides and melted very quickly. April Fool's Day today brought another 5-6" of pow for some endless tracks T2B. Hardly anyone on the hill, upper lot was barely 1/4 filled.6 points

Taking the train from Lansdale to Jefferson Station took less than an hour....I always bought the Independence pass..It was like 12 bucks and you could ride any form of SEPTA transportation all day....No worries about traffic or parking....Great for sporting events or anything else you wanted to do in the city..2 points

so yesterday, i get a call from my boss, who never calls me. tells me a coworker i work closely with, just tested positive for Covid. This is someone through out this whole deal has been a big mask wearer, so kinda odd. Boss tells me office is shut down, do only what i absolutely need to do, go get tested, go home, no work tomorrow. regroup on Monday. later on, another co worker in my office tests positive. Then this morning, as i was getting ready to leave to get tested, i get a call from the last coworker in my office, he is positive. Wonderful. Happy to report, (again) i am negative. so one other guy out of the 6 people in my immediate office are negative. last night at some point i remembered i got a ride to Delaware with my co worker my boss called me about. Masked up, but regardless, i was somewhat nervous. So, i guess for the past few days, i have been around some people that had Covid. Chalk it up to doing the right things, or a partial vaccine, take your pick. This all looks like it stems from the above managers assistant, who, again, is a huge asshole, and i will pay him back at somepoint, even though i will most likely never see him again. This Covid thing aint over folks.2 points

Very boomer of you to post this 4 days later than Toast lol. Reminds me of the ultimate boomer Mrs. Snowbunski who likes Facebook posts days later. Not as bad as my dad who signs texts.2 points

The thing about the commute is I could nap, or futz around on the internet doing things I need to do in my personal time. A driving commute require my attention. I’d rather have an hour and a half commute with a train ride for most of it than an hour driving commute.2 points

There is nothing Camelbacky about Brighton. Glad you enjoyed it, though. Milly truly is one of my favorite zones at any mountain that I've skied at.2 points

@saltyant, you need another hobby for the summer time. And since you are a fan of Florida, why not get some instructions and go dive wrecks in the Keys? I’ll be your buddy 👌🏻1 point

Oh st Monica’s cemetery in Paoli is one we are at a lot. The back of it butts up to a railroad. Reminds me of this monkees song.1 point

I haven't heard anything serious about it in years. Given that Canyons is now Vail, and Brighton and Soli are very much not Vail, I doubt it's going anywhere any time soon.1 point

Nope though I saw it from the downtown area. Before my 1 pm flight I slept in late, made an impromptu stop at an air force base museum, and had an air traffic control tower call the cops on me for inappropriate plane spotting. I swear I was in compliance with the sign... it said "No stopping beyond this point" and I was right in front of that sign!! So I wasnt even stopped past the point...1 point

We didn't make it too far, but that's where @skiincy and I went touring in January. I would love to go back and make it all the way from Deer Valley to Brighton.1 point

Wasn’t there a coffee maker in the hotel room or a Starbucks you could visit? You can also use a spoon to cut up a banana or gag yourself with it.1 point

If you travel 3/4 of the way across the country on a ski trip. Maybe go out for a decent breakfast.1 point

Service between Philly and Allentown/Reading is where trains excel if the trackage rights and scheduling can be worked out with NS. The old Reading mainline from Landsdale to Quakertown/Bethlehem is no more but a NYC -> Lehigh Valley -> Reading -> Philly route could do well and the line is already there. It would need safety upgrades though for passenger traffic.1 point

Woah, Brighton is insane. It has so much variety. It’s more crowded. It’s quite picturesque. It’s confusing. It’s dangerous. Compared to it, Solitude is so much more relaxed, straightforward and open. We loved all those trails in the trees, endlessly merging, crossing and splitting apart, but I still have no idea of how exactly they’re laid out, as it’s just a giant mess. You constantly have to look around for people jumping on you from a merging trail or even crossing from left shoulder to right and disappearing somewhere in the woods. No freaking wonder we saw two med evacs at Brighton in one day and zero at Solitude in two. Tons of little kids scraping trails with their pizzas and guarding parents going edge to edge behind them. Lines in the central area could be 5 minutes at times. And they have a terrain park, ugh. But the flanks of the resort are just the very opposite. No lines, with open views, high in the sky (just the mere thought of something dropping from the Western express is unbearable) and pretty interesting terrain. I agree, the Milly side is the best. There were never too many people, a walk from the parking lot is easy, there’s a terrace where one could stop for lunch, it’s just such a contrast from the hectic center. The trails there are also quite unique. They all offer insane views, are fast, are at the same time easy but also non-trivial with continuous ups and downs, turns and go arounds. We really had a blast at Milly. The weather started cold, about 12F, but quickly warmed up to about 50F. Conditions were immaculate, with velvet in the morning and cream cheese in the afternoon. So good, but I just can’t shake the feeling that the center of the mountain felt so... camelbacky?? In short, between the two, Solitude has won our hearts. Brighton left a long lasting impression.1 point

Remembered to re-up today as well. Found a gift card in my stash so was able to save $225 on next years pass, so that didn’t suck. Also picked up a valley locker. Wonder if I can fit the grill in there?1 point

Great day. Triple dip session, hit 8 runs in the morning session, out for drinks and piz courtesy of @PSUFlyand then Pops and I went back for 3 more runs before relaxing in a set of the adirondacks having a drink for about 20 waiting for the boy to finish with his camp. Turns out with the schedule shuffle he ended up being the only one in the group, and got down Main Street today so he was stoked about that. We went out for 2 more runs with him and he chose Switchback and Paradise, so ended out Blue, and probably entire season.1 point

I worked with a guy whose wife tracked him using "find my iphone" and she was always giving him a hard time. One time he had to go to the pet store at lunch and his wife questioned him hard core like he was having an affair or something. I remember hearing him say "Bitch I'm trying to buy some fish food, give me some space!".1 point
