1. I'm not two weeks out from my 2nd shot, so I would not consider myself to be fully vaccinated yet. 2. I don't live alone. I'm the only one in my household who's had their second shot. I'm not sure trials have even begun for safety/effectiveness on children under 12, so we're a long way out until everyone is fully vaccinated here. I still need to be more careful because of that. Late summer once there's more broad vaccination across the whole US population, yeah I'd consider flying somewhere and then getting tested to make sure I'm not gonna give something to the kid when I get home if there's not conclusive evidence that vaccination prevents transmission. Luckily we had a good ski season in PA this year so I don't feel like I missed too much by not getting out of the mid atlantic. Hopefully things start to chill out soon and we can all go back to having a regular ski season by next year and taking lots of trips and sharing lots of photos, videos, and stoke.7 points

I had my second Pfizer last Friday and has little no to side effects. I did drink that same night and woke up with a headache so it's hard to tell what the headache was from. Perhaps I was fatigued Saturday but again hard to tell if it was from staying out late or from the second shot. Either way, the headache and fatigue were minimal. Happy to be fully vaccinated.5 points

Now that I'm back, I'd like to close this thread... First, thanks to all who've been there earlier this year and posted their TRs. It should be pretty obvious that I was often following their tracks, and it saved me a lot of time on research. The choice of SLC hotels, easy hikes to kill time, advice on good trails and lifts, that was all extremely helpful. We've skied 3 days total (there was a fourth day planned at Snowbasin, but then we had to rebook the flights and cut the trip short). The choice of mountains was primarily driven by their elevation (this is a late trip, so the higher the better) and price (we have no season passes and paying $200 per day at DV is absurd). The original plan was to split the stay between condos at Solitude and Crystal Inn in downtown. Hearing how a PITA it can be to drive up the canyon after a fresh snowfall, regardless of the vehicle, just based on the number of people that suddenly get hit by the overpowering desire to ski no matter what, it seemed logical to avoid daily trips from SLC to Brighton/Solitude and just stay on the mountain. Well, there were no snowfalls while we were there, no driving issues, no crowds (yay for the beautiful sunny weather), and yet I feel that staying at condo was so much worth it and better than what we then saw at SLC, even despite the 3x price tag. It's not only obviously convenient to just walk out the building and get on the snow, then go back for a lunch and then for a stroll at the end of the day, it's just a different feeling and mood when you don't have to park in the crowd, boot in the crowd, then pack the car and snake back to SLC at end of the day in a long line of departing vehicles. Instead you live at where you ski and that makes you feel at home rather than being a regular day tripper. I do have to say that these condos are freaking expensive and same kind of experience can be had for half the price with breakfasts and dinners included in Italy, but whatever. The whole ski industry here is expensive. IDK whether the weather was out of the ordinary this week or it's always more or less the same in late March, but conditions were top notch. Blue skies, warm sun, snow is everywhere and while the trees and everything outside the trails were not inviting due to frozen crust, the groomers were immaculate and end of the season thin crowds made them so much fun to ski - fast like a bullet, straight to the lift, in a never ending loop. I'd say you start to get bored of Solitude by the end of the second day because it's not too big, and there are only so many ways to ski it top to bottom, but then you kind of miss it the day after. I've already talked about our impression of Brighton, it's certainly a much larger, diverse and entertaining mountain, but I feel that it has to be skied in the precise order of covering the center as early as possible while kids haven't arrived yet, then explore the Western side, then have a lunch on the terrace at the bottom of Milly Express and spend the remaining time at the Milly side until it closes at 4pm. This should help avoiding long lines, pizzas and reckless teens. Agree or disagree, but if I'm ever back there, that's going to be my plan. I don't know what to think of SLC downtown. We didn't particularly plan our time there, and on two days (Sunday early afternoon and Wednesday night) we found the downtown to be devoid of life, with hardly any people, empty trams, just rare cars traveling on the rectangular grid of 3-4 lane one way streets. Yeah, there are cafes, bars and eateries, but sometimes you are not even allowed to stay in the cafe after ordering and get ejected right back into the empty streets, so overall it was quite a disappointment. It seems like a very boring place, and the views of the city from the Ensign peak would be just as boring were it not for the surrounding mountains and Farmington Bay. On the other hand, in the morning of the last day we caught quite the opposite mood on Main street and really wanted to spend a couple of hours just walking around, too bad we were pressed by the departing flight. So there, it was a very enjoyable skiing trip, I wouldn't mind repeating it just the same and at about the same time, i.e. end of March next year, but I figure I'll wait with this decision until I hear more about Salty's next year adventures on his newly bought Epic pass and then, who knows, I will shamelessly copycat it again.4 points

PASR is probably a bad group to talk about side effects. No one is sure if the way they felt after the shot was from the shot or from all the activities we do immediately before or after getting it. For me I don't know if I was fatigued or just needed a post skiing nap.2 points

Solid season up here, a later start and unusual because: It snowed a lot in January and ,not unusual, a good part of February. We didn't have roller coaster temps, for the most part it maintained in the teens and 20's, a few single digits, but no rain or torch weather. That pattern did not allow for the normal freeze/thaw to build up a solid uber hardpack foundation, so when it warmed up and got sunny it cooked the snow on both sides and melted very quickly. April Fool's Day today brought another 5-6" of pow for some endless tracks T2B. Hardly anyone on the hill, upper lot was barely 1/4 filled.2 points

Consistency and volume... that is the key for Buckhouse. Also, his quest the ride every mountain in the usa allow for people to relate because he also films the tiny home town mountains.1 point

i purposely avoided alcohol for a few days before and after so i didn't confuse symptoms hah. i did go for a 10 mile mtb ride right after getting my 2nd shot and probably didn't drink enough water, so slight headache definitely could have been from that.1 point

The biggest differentiator seems to be Pfizer vs Moderna. The latter giving younger individuals a harder kick on their second Fauci Ouchie.1 point

Yea it's scary skiing bumps and stopping, I think it was the day of the PASR party Lisa almost got taken out twice in a big way, once on the side of Barney's by an out of control skier that yard saled just below us and a high speed jackass snowboarder on challenge using the bumpers as slalom gates1 point

We used to see a guy master masturbate daily from the office window. He had a nickname..."The Whacker". Then there was the homeless couple who would have sex in front of the Municipal Services Building. Smh1 point

It just had a weird vibe. Lots of guys in their 20’s with sports jerseys on. My friend got plowed down, guy didn’t even stop to see if she was ok. I have since heard multiple stories of people being knocked down.1 point

Not surprised. When I used to take the train to center city feces and urine were an almost daily occurrence. That experience probably pushed me into the mountains quicker than anything else.1 point

I prefer Greg Brady’s content better. Although he has 70,000 less subscribers. Who are your favorite ski/snowboard influencers? Jon Olsson and Warner Nickerson have posted some decent ski vlogs but not with the consistency of Buckhouse.1 point

@NMSKI I remember you were saying you were into Bugaboos namely the Columbia two in one ski jacket and the Destiny’s child song. Well you are in luck the Bugaboo ski lodge is for sale. https://www.cmhheli.com/bugaboo-listing?utm_source=IBM&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=CM-WIN-NEW-21_apr01bugaboolisting (1)&utm_content=www_cmhheli_com_bugaboo_lodge_listi&eml-publisher=Strategie&eml-name=CM-WIN-NEW-21_apr01bugaboolisting (1)&uid=&eurl=www_cmhheli_com_bugaboo_lodge_listi&spMailingID=6754428&spUserID=MTA4ODQ4MzMwNzk4S0&spJobID=1240083903&spReportId=MTI0MDA4MzkwMwS21 point

Regional rail is great but needs more frequent service and a few late night trains. The subway in Philly is a use at your own risk situation right now. I've never seen it as bad down there since I moved to Philly for college 13 years ago.1 point

Great move but the two downsides I've run into is that the train runs out of Lansdale only once an hour and the last train out of center city is around 11pm which means if you do a baseball game or some other event down in South Philly, or you're going out for a night on the town you really need to plan your whole trip around getting back in time to catch that train. Plus if you've got more than 2 people with you it is actually cheaper to just drive and pay to park.1 point

I had a close call with two my coworkers...They are brother and are super nice dudes...Always wore masks at work and washed/sanitized hands, but you just don't know what people do outside of work...As soon as I found out I emailed my doctor to write a script for a test...to the hospital and a day and a half later it came back negative...1 point
