  1. Smuggs shmoo fest has a few more lift service days remaining before the bull wheels go silent this saturday. It was going to end Sunday, but there's rain in the forecast, so Saturday it is. I've been going out early afternoon for 5-6 laps in the sun, shorts and sans helmet. Bike season begins..have a great summer PASR!

  2. https://www.stormskiing.com/p/podcast-40-montage-mountain-managing This is a month old now but I just listened to it (on 2x speed). I didn't see it mentioned anywhere here - an interview with Montage's owner Charles Jefferson. There is some pretty interesting stuff discussed: -The guy did not ski until after he bought Montage -Providing good customer and passholder experience, affordable season passes and midweek tickets, and making snow in March -Long Haul is being rehabilitated like the others lifts there but not replaced due to the unique Montage crowd flow -Hotel plans and year round business -Long term possibilities of cutting a blue trail to the bottom and possibilities to expand -Montage asked Indy Pass about what joining would look like last year but apparently Indy said something about only having one mountain per region - which is weird because if you look at the Indy map there is a big hole in PA other than Shawnee - especially how close many are in NH, and New England in general - and Shawnee is not really an expert's ski hill - and Philly area/East PA is probably the worst-served market on the East coast by Indy pass. Which does raise some though about the April 27 Indy Pass announcement, with the price increase and "more value" and "exciting additions" - Will we see Montage or any other PA areas added? Overall I was also struck just how different the philosophy this guy has of running Montage seems to be different from Vail, and how open he was talking about business details and stuff to the podcast.

  3. Like, I get it, everyone's tired of wearing a mask. I'm sitting in my kitchen wearing one right now because we have some contractors in our house doing some work. Those facebook comments pretty easily point out the people who don't really have any compassion for anyone besides themselves though. In the grand scheme of things, wearing a mask is not that hard of a thing to do to help out everyone around you a little bit, especially the people who can't for any reason get vaccinated yet.

  5. Got the second Fauci ouchie Pfizer stab yesterday at 2pm. Not sure why, but it burned significantly more so than the first shot. Don’t know if it was what’s in the shot or how it was administered. Son says that if they inject slow, it burns more. Other than far more arm pain than the first shot, initial effects were non-existent. However that would be short-lived. Woke up around 4am with raging headache, fever, chills, muscle and joint soreness, nausea, overall lethargy and fatigue. It was just like having the flu, even eyes hurt to open them. No, I didn’t have anything to drink prior either. Guess it’s better than being in ICU with a tube down my throat...

  6. I hear you. Thats why it took me forever to buy one. But I am not going to lie this thing was worth every penny. I tilled almost all the neighbors gardens too to be neighborly.

  8. I wear a mask to run outside and my gym obviously requires you wear them while working out. Yes, its annoying but that's the world right now. It's been over a year of mask wearing, how are people STILL complaining as if no one else in the world is dealing with the same inconvenience. There are worst things in life than wearing a mask.

  10. Not quite finished with it but this is a great talk. Thanks for sharing it @abe! I think his business philosophy is grate. I will definitely keep this guy in mind and his Philadelphia based firm to possibly reach out to for a potential school project.

  14. Most of my customers are vaccinated and I’ll likely require masks in my office until the end of the summer at least and before recently I wasn’t even letting customers inside my building. Still a lot of far right people who just can’t fathom the thought of getting vaccinated.
