Hey All, I’m back from day 2 of 6 with another trip to Abasin..I know from yesterday where the snow is good and had a general idea of what the wind was doing to the snow. It was sunny and in the mid 20s when I pulled in at around 830. I took my time booting up and there was actually a shortish line at about 850 when I got in line for the black mountain express..I even went inside the bathroom their locker room is off limits it’s basement and super tight. Use your car as a locker. Was maybe 8-10th chair was only 855..rode with somebody who’s parents live in macungie. Over to Lenawee they were just removing the rope..was maybe 5th or 6th chair on that Lenawee was in a wind tunnel..was pretty cold by the top. It’s a long fixed grip triple. I doodled around in the run next to powerline skied all the way to the base cause gotta take advantage of the giant swaths of in touched on the more protected lower mountain lapped down there a few times.. Took Lenawee back up lots of untracked but sometimes untracked means windslab or hidden rocks but I don’t think I hit any rocks on my skis except in the parking lot yesterday Salty style. Took Pali lift up to Davis repeat of a route I skied yesterday and conditions were worse but some good patches..no grooming dark blue with single black off chutes..got to 50 yards from lift and pulled mask back up unbuckled boot..rode the beavers lift solo went from sweaty to cold by the top winds were fierce..doodled around untracked and slabby snow on Lenawee and saw some serious wipeouts..traversed through some lower mountain glades..you sort of want to follow others tracks in case they uncover snow snakes. Into the lot at mid day it was full..and streams of melting snow were running through the lot. I debooted, answered like two emails and drove back to Silverthorne stopped at a mini market, got more edibles and got Arby’s.4 points

4/15/21 Copper mountain day 3 of 6. Hey All, I’m back from a fun day at Copper mountain. I got Mickey dees breakfast this AM plus had some coffee from hotel. Took my time getting ready and parked in the free Alpine lot at Copper mountain essentially like the fifth or sixth row. Booted up..took shuttle bus to east village and got my copper card from a kiosk same as at blue and Abasin then you can add on and use the same card. I made my way to the Super Bee six pack..it wasn’t open yet and maybe 40-50 kids doing training or competition at the front of the line anyway managed maybe the 15th chair and it was warminh maybe around 30 degrees and had my own chair so could go maskless. Made my way down to center village via Ptarmigan and a few connecting runs to the bubble chair..shared that with two kids bar was down bubble up that is one heck of a lift. Shields from the wind pretty well. Skied into the Timblerline area from there which is usually a hopping place and it was a ghost town..did some laps there because the snow conditions weren’t that great and that area is mellow enough that I can let em run..also went into the alpine once and instead of getting pictures took pictures of a group. It’s a real touristy crowd...I answered a few people’s questions about where the bus goes and what not.. i skied some blue and green and one black up high some little pitches weren’t groomed which made for a challenge as conditions were variable. Usually I’d want to stop at an upper mountain cantina for a jack and coke or maybe an IPA and a bag of chips but the weather wasn’t that good..some snow showers, high winds in some spots..increasing clouds. Person on the chair said NOAA said 3-8” new for tomorrow AM. I already pre booked Abasin for tomorrow I think it could be a junk show..depends how much falls overnight. I took a break in the woods then skied back to the east village..took the shuttle bus back to my car with a few people from earlier bus I know they got like 20k vert..I didn’t ski that much..spent some time taking pictures and traversing some woods I did go across patches and what not you never forget how to do that kind of skiing but an initial hop turn was tentative. I skied a lot of long runs today..and some short runs in the timblerline area..lots of rollers..not my ting Had a fast mexican lunch in Frisco on the way back to hotel. Tacos and rice were good soup sort of burnt tasting. I have more pictures here’s some for now.3 points

Hey All, I just booked my airfare for my Colorado skifari in three weeks. Airfare has actually got up a little on southwest but I had some credit to apply to this and with early bird check in my out of pocket is $99 roundtrip for direct flights from Philly to Denver. Just have to book rental car and hotel now. I’m psyched to finally go somewhere after 14 months of being in PA...I’ll use this thread to post updates of my trip and as many of you know from my past Colorado skifaris...it dumps when I’m out there...1 point

Totally agree that it's devoid of life. Pandemic or not, SLC is no Miami, San Fran or NYC. It's clean and the homeless population is low. But, SLC is cool because you can ski before and after work easily, and allows you to have a job other than a seasonal position. For comparison, they're not the only small city to be devoid of life. It reminds me of cities like Hartford CT but with public transit and better views. Salt Lake's population is 197k whereas Hartford's population is 123k and Allentown's population is 120k. It's hard to compare to SLC's scene to a large city and you can't really compare it to a town like Jackson Hole. When you compare SLC to places like Hartford and Allentown, it's a gem.1 point

No. Not that area. Pine Hill is next to the camping area. There is a Deer hunting section in Pinchot state forest separate from that area however.1 point

Looks good again. Bummer to hear about altitude. Hydrate a bit extra and avoid alcohol for a bit if you can!1 point

Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Abasin. I arrived at the mountain at 830 and there were only a handful of people. I was booted up with ticket by 845 and only two people in line at the black mountain express. I rode the second civilian chair with some guy who hadn’t skied there in 20 years. Then over to the lenawee lift in 2” of new snow...basically breaking trail.. Up Lenawee and did the run to the left of powerline first all the way to the base and it was all untracked on top of groomer. Did a few lower laps go really milk that perder which was less wind affected then the upper mountain then back to the top of Lenawee and I took the rope tow and skied a run in montezuma bowl which was dust on crust. That area gets the spring conditions first and so the underlying snow wasn’t the nice styrofoamy snow of the front face or what I skied in the Beavers area earlier. I was really skiing runs fast and slowed down the pace a tad with some exploration. Took a fast Humbug I believe to lower mountain still leftover perd to the new Pali chair which now has a safety bar. I skied into the beavers area from Pali the wind up there was fierce and took Davis and did some single black off chutes which had nice ungroomed snow below the fresh. I didn’t see a single person on that run. I normally like to stop at the mid mountain lodge for Bloody Mary, beer maybe a soft pretzel but didn’t do that today, it probably would have just been me and the bartender as it was so quiet at Abasin. Visibility was also better than I expected. I skied another front face run by then everything on the main runs was choppy but the new 2” transformed the primary conditions into more winterlike. Back in Silverthorne I went to a strip mall taco place first and the line was pretty long so went to noodles and company and had buttered noodles with a pork topping and Caesar salad then ate some gummies and had a little nap. I think I’m gonna buy another ticket at Abasin for tomorrow. Can’t resist the lack of crowds plus it could snow more overnight1 point

I haven’t been to Florida since thanksgiving of 1996. My parents went with my sisters family a couple years ago and gave me $2,000 not to come lol. They like to be fair so since they paid for my sisters family and I passed they felt it necessary to even things out. Fucking boomers lol0 points
