I hope you are correct. What we have at Blue is special. Even if things were to change for the worse, I don't see any of us leaving to go elsewhere.6 points

Henderson said the entrance of Vail in Carbon County also has been a positive at the two ski areas, which hadn’t received much investment in prior years. hmmm, some might disagree.3 points

I sort of refuse to get uptight about the things i have no control over, or hope for things that wont come true, so i will be in a wait and see approach on this. I guess we will see some activity over the next few months, since "they are going to infuse it with a lot of cash". We will see. Hopefully they do correct some things, and my first pick would be bringing the grooming up to a better level, since what we sometimes have is just basically dangerous. I would like to see this addressed long before a lodge remodel, or paving.2 points

i still wonder how salty blue was when ATT put that huge fuckin tower smack in the backdrop of where the weddings take place i get a good laugh everytime i think about it2 points

bear's hotel is booked solid pretty much the entire winter, not sure about camelback. but yes, hotel on premise for weddings would be a stupidly easy money maker.2 points

Camelback and bear creek do well with their hotels. Look at all the NY people who come to Blue now, they’d stay in a hotel and make a weekend out of it. I’m sure blue would also have weekday ski and stay specials to help keep the hotel occupied during the week.2 points

Side effects of the second shot kicked in sometime overnight. I feel like I got hit by a train. on a side note though, for anyone who hasn’t gotten their second shot yet, Bio-freeze works really really well for managing the arm soreness2 points

I hope the hotel if built is not visible from the Appalachian Trail or east side summit The pass situation could be interesting. Weren't there rumors of Camelback thinking of joining Ikon? A cheap off-peak pass for Blue like at Camelback would also be exciting1 point

To a non skiing management group though they probably don't quite care about that and would not be able to quantify any kind of return so it'll get skipped over.1 point

yup, and when you sort of think about it, improving the grooming could possibly be their biggest bang for the buck. like you said, they have the equipment, and from what i know, pretty good equipment too.1 point

No idea but it’s a game changer for ATT cell phone customers. I’ve sold tombstones from the lower lot before thanks to the grate cell phone coverage. Why my season pass should be a business expense.1 point

The hotel would pay for itself with weddings. They could charge more as a wedding venue with that amenity. I’ve always wondered how many drunk drivers there are leaving weddings and events at Blue.1 point

i'm not sure how crowded a hotel would be during the ski season. if you're going to go somewhere overnight, there are way better options than blue. if their weddings/events are a big moneymaker, lodging would be huge since the nearest hotel isn't even remotely close.1 point

Despite the camelback affiliation...I don't hate this. Same ownership (at least for now) meaning Barb continues to call the shots with an influx of $ for legit capital improvements. Prediction...for the short term...the Vista lodge gets started and coming soon gets snowmaking and lightning. Long term we'll see the Waterpark up top, serious terrain expansion to the east, perhaps a base lodge revamp (goodbye tent city). Honestly, given the rumors about Vail or whatever over the years, this could be a best case scenario for us. Only thing I don't like is the fact that ksl owns camelback.1 point

The football stadium at UDel had (has?) a pee wall in one of the men’s rooms, the old gutter on the floor and the wall with the slow sheet of water running down to control splashback. A buddy who went there told me that it was actively lobbied to be kept more than once. Those things really move the lines on gameday.1 point

I have a friend that did that as recently as 2006. You'd hear splashing and know it was time to vacate the area.1 point

The parking lot at the top of the mountain is a great make out spot. Then you get tacos on the way back.1 point

Eyeliner complements ones eyes. Posters complement your man cave. Rims complement your car. Tight jeans compliment my ass. Blue mountain doesn't complement camelback. Blue mountain makes camelback feel like I'm skiing on a septic mound.1 point

Bean counters yes, operations folks, maybe not is what I'm trying to say. Super weird in that the Poconos are quite different than Vail's other properties. For the rest of Vail's portfolio people are traveling a long way to get there, often flying, definitely staying and likely spending multiple days. Mountains are located closer to each other, are relatively similar and are pulling from day tripping major metro markets in the Poconos from people with a different mindset as to what a day of skiing entails. I just get the feeling that there could definitely be some things lost in translation.1 point
