  1. I’ve been going overboard studying the nyc subway recently. The current system is only half of what was originally planned to be built. The amount of abandoned tunnels, abandoned stations, shell stations, bell mouths, and provisionals is amazing. There are parts of the tunnels not even the MTA knows exists. I have always wanted to explore the tunnels but that seems like something you need someone to show you. Gotta worry about getting hit by a train, touching the third rail, getting your foot stuck in a track switch, getting seen by train operators and cops, plus motion sensors in emergency exits and pump rooms and vent shafts. hipsters and the media gave away the location of the abandoned Chinatown tunnel from the 70s and gave away the location of the south 4th street shell station. Fortunately the street art in the shell station was dissed before the city sealed it off. Both these places are now permanently sealed shut.

  2. Make sure you get a fresh pair of panties before you read on... The weather has been great for the garden this year. Tomatoes, peppers, and beans are doing incredibly well. As are the root veggies like our potatoes, beets, and carrots. What has really been doing well are our greens. The cools nights has really helped produce tons of lettuce and spinach. We haven't had to buy greens since mid-May and have been have salads daily. The squash and cantaloupe were just transplanted last weekend and are already starting to vine all over. Out early season blueberries are doing great, and the late season blueberries will probably come in when our raspberries do. My dog has now learned how to eat blueberries directly off of the bush. I'm not too pleased about that...

  4. Idk, I just feel the whole tombstone thing, embalming your body, putting it in the ground is just too weird. And expensive. Then your family feels obligated to visit your grave. I’m all for being cremated, and having your ashes spread in places you loved. But to each, his own.

  6. The stuff underground in NYC is astounding. Between the subway tunnels, the steam tunnels, the storm sewers, sanitary sewers, all the utilities from the past 150 years and I'm sure much, much more it's insane to me to think how much is just stacked in criss crossing lines under that city. Also if you want to read some interesting stuff, start reading about Andy Byford, the public transit guru who has been at a number of major cities transit authorities and has been a Godsend for them in terms of making the systems better. He spent two years at the MTA in New York before the heavy hand of Andrew Cuomo was too much and he resigned. He's now the head of London's system.

  7. Check out LTVsquad.com. A ton of pics from subway tunnel exploring also Google 76th street station...it is the holy grail of things that give rail fans a boner. This is the most infamous picture in the history of the NYC subway. I bet people have this framed at their house.

  8. My customers and dealers will do anything in their power to get my cell phone number. They’re not happy with just the office number. One dealer I had to send a picture and I said I’ll email it and he said can you please text because he was then gonna text it to one of his families. I said I will but if you call me on my cell I’ll never answer. It’s just intrusive getting work calls on my cell phone..the few who have my cell abuse the privilege and call me at like 7pm.

  9. I've spent a stupid amount of time looking at this stuff as well. The abandoned tunnels are fascinating. If you find more good shit please post it!

  10. yeah all three, maybe it's a normal price for super high speed + super channel lineup, but neither the cable nor the internet is anything spectacular. 150mb down / 10mb up, capped at 1.5TB (i've never had an issue with those speeds, though i wish the upload rate was higher). i love the landline more than i should. oh and if you have tivo, you've probably recently noticed what are called preroll ads when you are viewing dvr content. call your cable provider and demand that they remove them. they will definitely put up a fight, but they can remove them. there's no reason they should profit and you not get a discount. i got so irritated having to fast forward through them i called (hammered) and 'furious' that my young children were exposed to scantily dressed people twerking in the ads. they promptly removed them (the second time i called at least).

  11. I’m sure there are lots of folks who want to go the traditional route. And that’s their choice. Just not my thing. And my in-laws were cremated, then their urns and ashes buried. I would rather be scattered about.

  12. I switched from xfinity to T-Mobile home internet. I’m getting 7x the download speed, and at least 40x upload speeds compared to Comcast, and I’m paying 50 dollars a month, no data caps. I would recommend getting a fan to put underneath your T-Mobile router, they get hot and they do, they can drop the secondary signal which causes decrease in speed. I put a small computer Fan under it and it now runs cool and speeds stay constant. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
