This is probably one of the least confusing posts they have made recently, and the most informative. i wont ever understand the latest trend of places announcing opening dates 3 months in advance. I think most everybody here understands they open when it gets cold and they can make snow, but in general, people are pretty stupid, and would show up Friday, just because they read something 3 months ago that said they would be open. I have seen stuff from a FB weather page that someone said "Blue is making snow", and "Frost is going to open on December 3rd".

  4. That sounds lovely. When I was in the Czech Republic the other week they had a bunch of huts in their town square that served "Christmas Punch" (in whatever Czech words they had). It was mulled wine with different shots of liquor. Fantastic.... and scary potent.

  5. easiest is to mix everything except the liquor in a crock pot until its boiling. then reduce temp and add liquor. wahtever you dont drink can be stored in the fridge and lightly reheated in the microwave if impatient you want to start drinking asap or warmed up on the stove. i didn't want to create yet another post correcting myself, but there was no add'l orange juice. sorry, i was still waking up. also it was missing raisins in the photo. pic here in crock pot - https://photos.app.goo.gl/UEh7fdPw1LxfCJ9h6 - you'll notice i mixed everything in at once. i don't recommend that. took almost the whole night to heat up and i had to keep temping to avoid overheating. now i do it the way i mentioned and then leave it on 'keep warm' for a half the day.

  7. Friday was rad at Wissahickon. But here’s a caution ... Be careful of mystery hot booze in a crock pot in a ski lodge from 1945. The hangover was the worst I’ve had in years.

  8. Blowing on Vista and tubing. Not sure if anywhere else. Tonight and tomorrow night could yield good production if they wanted. Hopefully will see guns in when I wake up.

Hot/mulled, spiced beer is also good...a lot of bars in Poland served it when I was there. 1 bottle of your favorite beer (or go with something a bit darker, to the the full flavor of hops and barley 3 cloves 1 tbs of honey 1/2 stick of cinnamon (or 1/4 tsp powdered cinnamon) 1/4 cup of orange juice or juice of 1/2 orange (or any other juice)

  13. maybe... something bizarre is happening. either people are noticing it and buying or they are removing dates. 4hr AM - dec 4, all days starting dec 10 4hr mid - all days starting dec 10 4hr PM - all days starting dec 10 except dec 24 8hr - Nov 26, 27, 30. Dec 1, all days starting dec 10

  14. blue has first availability for tix set for fri. dec. 3. looking at the 10 day, there seems to be plenty of opportunity for marginal snowmaking. im guessing it'd be very limited terrain, but crossing my fingers for it to happen. for some reason they never updated the 8hr tix which are being sold for today and prior. the 4hr tix are all starting on the third.

  15. at 20-25abv, i don't think it'd be the best idea before driving home. half is bottom shelf 101 proof whiskey. ...that doesn't mean i won't bring some for sampling though.

  24. The ski hype is growing.... After the Warren Miller movie about 2 weeks ago, I have a tab on my browser with a few trips that I haven't pulled the trigger on. Heading to Wissahickon Ski Club in Conshohocken tonight. They're showing a movie about independent ski hills and are having a little event tonight. Starts at 6pm. If anyone is the area, you should come. I was invited by a friend who is a member. Just a bunch of snow loving philly people. They're playing In Pursuit of Soul, which is about independent resorts. There will be a pizza truck. Usually BYOB unless the tap is flowing.
