Guns still cranking at 8:40 and tonight looks like a decent window too. Thursday/Friday look too warm but if the temps hold the way they are forecasted I can see some of you guys in the upper lot the weekend of the 4th.5 points

Looks like Belleayre plans to open the Tomahawk lift Friday with 927' vertical. May hit that Sat if Hunter doesn't open. But I bet they will.4 points

To put Elk's snowmaking in some geographic perspective: North and East: Bellayre says snowmaking has begun, Plattekill no mention of snowmaking - they rely more on natural snow than other resorts, Wyndham webcams show snow making has started, and making nice progress. Hunter webcams show a nice start in progress, could easily open by the weekend. Northwest: Greek Peak: Webcams show snowmaking has begun. South: Montage shows snow making has started. East: Holiday Mt, NY (Not to to be confused with Holiday Valley NY) - no news on their website. Mt. Peter, NY - Webcam offline, says "closed for the season. We are grateful to our staff, ... and we can’t wait to see you all next season" They didn't get the memo it is next season! - These two NY resorts (hills) are more weekend/family focused and so will not be early starters in making snow. Summary: Montage to the south of Elk seems to have one or two days head start in making snow. Competing mountains to the North are about four or five days ahead. It's fascinating to watch how the start of a winter ski season moves north to south like it is right now. Could not do this 15 years ago because not every report had webcams.4 points

happy skison friends, we're almost there. really wanted to join you all at Blue again, but I apparently missed the boat to buy a $725 pass (whoops). decided to go to BC this year, but I hope to get up to blue for at least one parking lot pimping session. this will be the first year I've held a pass (in PA) that wasn't at blue the true since my very first one in 2005. big sad.2 points

Sounds pretty legit. Asnowmobiler must have insider information. He stated it so matter of factly, no hint of conjecture1 point

My Sonic goes radical in the snow. I've thought about buying an SUV but I need to squeeze every single penny out of my car first. It only has 120k miles on it. I always try my besy to emulate @Ski2Live Live2Ski when making financial decisions including when to split a hot cocoa and ask for a gift card1 point

Hit me up sometime. I also have a Bear Pass and usually split between the park and grommers.1 point

Gotcha...until a few years ago I’d wait until November to buy my season pass. I’ve switched to buying the late winter/early spring early bird price because they advertise limited quantities. A couple people from the PASR row didn’t have passes so I begged and pleaded with Blue for weeks for them to release more season passes and they did last month..I feel for you1 point

I’m being sarcastic I doubt they walk more than 50 steps from the lodge. Their social media is the suck.1 point

I was one of those people who was always like “that would be awesome if sidewinder was just a normal trail.” Then they made it a regular trail and I realized it wasn’t as good a trail as I thought lol1 point

Likely Shop Rite. The only place I’ve seen that packaging is Price Rite, same company.1 point

This is probably one of the least confusing posts they have made recently, and the most informative. i wont ever understand the latest trend of places announcing opening dates 3 months in advance. I think most everybody here understands they open when it gets cold and they can make snow, but in general, people are pretty stupid, and would show up Friday, just because they read something 3 months ago that said they would be open. I have seen stuff from a FB weather page that someone said "Blue is making snow", and "Frost is going to open on December 3rd".1 point

If Blue and CB join a larger pass it will be Ikon as they have a corporate connection now and Epic has a pretty good PA presence already.1 point

I wouldn’t be concerned about security, but reliability will depend on how T-Mobile cell service is at your location. Also, their home broadband customers’ traffic is prioritized at the lowest priority by their network, which could subject it to throttling if the cell site near your home sees high usage. Is their product all wifi in the home, or does the device have Ethernet ports? Personally, I would only use a cellular based internet service for my home if I had no other option, but I could be described as biased. As technology stands right now, if I didn’t work for a cable company, I’d go with: 1 - Fios if I could get it. 2 - Cable internet, purchasing my own modem and router. 3 - DSL 4 - Moving 5 - Cellular based internet 6 - Dialup 7 - Satellite internet like Hughes1 point
