Arrived in the upper lot around 7:20 to pretty much an empty lot, more/less. A few minutes later Rodney, @tarponhead, @Benm, @Mixilplix, @JFskiDan, Rick and Slim arrived, bringing a light shower in with them to add to the dense fog. Later on, @mbike-ski, Nikko, @mute1080, Ryan, Boo,@Dirtwolf @antman12and some other bumpers showed up to take part in the fun. Walking out to the rope drop in a significant rain that stopped shortly after and only a couple of very light showers fell the rest of the morning. The snow was spectacular, soft, edgeable, the fog on the other hand was thick, dense and relentless. Early on, lower Main had some good visibility, but as the day went on, the fog kept moving lower. The snow was soft enough for us to set up a couple of bump lines on Midway and Lower Main which broke up the monotony of avoiding the crazies out going full speed in the fog and then wiping out in order to stop. Peaced out to the parking lot around 12pm for beers. Was definitely worth getting up for and the trip. Best snow conditions of the year so far. JADIP14 points

Currently on my flight home from an early season trip to Utah. I got 5 days of boarding in... Yes terrain was limited, but still very enjoyable with low crowds. A good use of my Ikon Pass and with a second trip planned in March will easily make money money back. I got three days at Brighton. They really on had the terrain off Crest open,, but enjoyable enough. The highlight was Thursday during the dumping of 20 plus inches. Enough snow to make the lower trees playable. I planned to head up ok Friday too, but when I arrived at the Big Cottonwoood entrance at 630@m and there were already 30 cars lined up at the night.. knowing that they only had Crest and Majestic lifts open I did not feel like dealing with the crowds... So I turned around and spent the day downtown and had another highlight of the trip. I found an awesome Cajun restaurant, The Bayou, which had a great beer selection and awesome Crawfish Etouffee. I will revisit on future visits and highly recommend. I also spent a short day at Solitude as they had very little open. There was not much to talk about. Lastly spent my first day ever at Snowbird. I just lapped off Gadzoom as lifts lines were nill.. They had the Tram open, but heard coverage was thin and I did not know what I was going to get into too.. All and all a good trip,, I like the low key vibe of early season, plus it fits I'm with my PTO for work... A couple pictures below(in no particular order)11 points

My guys got the roof dried in just in time for this latest storm. Gonna head down early January once all the windows are in. Can’t wait to lay eyes on it. My builder said there was a bald Eagle hanging around all day. Property goes uphill and eventually reaches forest land. Although that lot belongs to someone else I have heard they live out of state and only come every few years. There is enough space to ski it on a makeshift 4 x 4 road. Only a few hundred feet of very but the steepness of a black resort run.10 points

Lancaster is definitely central PA. Honestly anything west of route 100 is the Midwest to me. Thanks for the link!!!2 points

Lancaster so we say we are central PA but still are fairly far southeast. I am about equidistant from Roundtop and Bear Creek, but if Snow Peak were still around it would be just as close. 1400' vert, northern aspect, wide ridge, and water available for snowmaking directly out of the Juniata river. Blue Knob also has the potential to be much larger than it currently is. Here is what I could find on the Tunkhannock 1500'+ vert proposed area: https://www.dcski.com/lostareas/viewlostprofile.php?id=622 points

Aspen is one hour 10 min. But if I ever get better at BC stuff this whole area is like a playground. https://www.marbleski.org/ In the summer when Kebler pass is open, CB is only about an hour plus and yeah construction costs have been nuts. This will probably be my last project.2 points

lololol I thought they were open already? Compared to everywhere else Blue is crushing it this year. Bear Creek should be able to open by March.2 points

maybe not pushing out until after the rain ro preserve snow? I can't imagine they didn't blow enough to open after three nights of snow making.2 points

Another great read, thanks! We spend a lot of time camping and hiking the Endless Mountains. There’s a lot of potential for ski areas, there just isn’t the population to support them.1 point

They can take some of the snow from lazy, upper Main Street and Burma to use to fill in thin spots on the open terrain throughout the week. Not only will tomorrow be a spicy meatball but it will be crowded.1 point

fun morning with everyone tagged in @indiggios post, specifically @Mixilplix . Started raining pretty good on the way up so I pulled into sheets expecting to turn around but talked myself into continuing on. Glad I did! Conditions were the best I’ve had at Blue so far this season. I walked into the lodge at 8 from a decent rain and walked out at 805 to no rain. Didn’t really rain much, if at all for the next 90 minutes. Fun 10 runs to get my fix for the day. fog got worse at the morning went on. “riding down lower main is like riding with braille” -Mixil1 point

Yeah I can't believe all the huge mountains you drive through in that area of the state, and the biggest ski areas we get are... Tussey and Sawmill lol1 point

0 desire to ski today. Fog and mist / rain is the worst. See y'all tomorrow.1 point

This is why I'm going to Jack Frost for a while until Blue opens more trails. I'm not a fan of early season Midway, though I do enjoy it later in the season.1 point

I’m not skiing today. I don’t like skiing in fog and looks like rain is gonna but right for opening. There should be a rain free window late morning and early PM. I wasnt expecting Burma to open this weekend. As was said, you don’t groom out whales when it’s going to be warm for a prolonged stretch. After the next 24 hours, Blue is going to go from expansion mode to survival mode. We have to hope for a solid 3-4 days of snowmaking before Xmas or we won’t be in the valley until January but on the bright side they are open while most other PA ski areas haven’t opened yet0 points
