Hey All, I’m back from another session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 720am and it was 48 degrees with fog in the mid and upper mountain. In the house were Atomic Jeff, NMSki, Toast, JFDan, Antman, Mixilplix, Bethlehem Ford Guy, Slim, Indiggio and many others. Upper Main Street is now closed and going over to midway was definitely skiing by Braille. Snow was alright spring snow..some call hero snow...a little slow for my liking. I mainly skied lazy mile which wasn’t that busy..I apparently snowed some kid pretty bad making the hard right turn onto shuttle. Did lazy about five times then back to midway which was still in a fog. I feel like it for foggier and more moust as the morning progressed. I hungout in the lot, had some chips and beer and now af work...have to make final bank deposit of the year and have multiple voicemails from just this morning. JADIP Ski everybody next year.6 points

I don't think this is any kind of revelation but any PASR peeps traveling to VR hills be aware they are hyper short on workers. I was at PCMR today, 15" and shit was pure railing rainbow coke off the finestest of asses but first chair on town lift was 950. They had no ski patrol to do a lift line recon so they couldn't run town lift. None of the 4 lifts from the base were running before 920. The lifty told us they currently have 4 groomers and had all but the base lodge closed for anything other than peeing. They aren't currently grooming Canyons at all and had only the 5 or 6 majors groomed pc all week though I only saw it myself today. Honestly if your a certain type of skiier it's awesome, pow turns everywhere until late in the day and no frills so those people seemed to stay at home. However they were close to not having enough personel to operate and outside of Vail itself I highly doubt this is unique to PCMR. It has been this way all season so far since they got snow and could actually ski. Basically make sure to have snacks in your pockets and be prepared to be chill, shit is fucking wild right now.5 points

Apparently they all went to Alta who has a union and better wages. I don't know if that's true but that is what the local peeps were saying. The ski patrol who eventually came down had no idea the lift wasn't running and 4 lifts never ran. I saw 0 ski patrol on the hill, no lift line people and at most 2 lifties top and bottom, most had one and the head maintenance guy was running Motherlode lift. The obvious answer is throw money at a core contingent of workers but VR is publicly traded and they don't want to show rising labor costs. Most of this week is people spending serious loot to take their family on vacation and if I was one of those people I would be fuck vail too. I don't care because every morning it's been skiing knee deep untracked and Alta got 2 inches in 30 mins like 2hrs ago.4 points

Another groundhog day in the fog. Coming over the @RidgeRacer this morning, the fog had (temporarily) cleared and the hopes of a fog-free day arose, only to be dashed shortly thereafter. Regardless, hero snow made for hero bumps on Midway and Lower Main, followed by ample beers in the lot afterwards. Hopefully going to be a rainless window of opportunity tomorrow morning, but guessing a 4pm closure followed by a closed Sunday after the deluge. Happy healthy and prosperous New Year to all PASRs!3 points

Tried but today was something else. People were either on their ass, walking down trails, walking in the trees for whatever reason or walking under the lifts looking for whatever they dropped. I saw People sliding down Midway. Sliding down Lazy, and even walking down tuts with their skis over their shoulder. One guy who fell on tuts was wearing grey sweatpants. I get it you don't ski so you don't have gear but common sense should tell someone that when skiing...especially when it's rainy, that wearing something water resistant may be a good idea. This guy's grey sweatpants were so wet that they were practically falling off. They weren't drying either. This isn't the type of weather where things dry when your outdoors. His ass (literally) is going to be wet for a long time. SMH.2 points

Ski the bump line we seeded on lower main and partial bumps on midway. Make you smile smile Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Exactly what mix said. What is open is a field of bumps and the baller to non baller ratio is probably 1000 to 1 which is probably not the best ratio in a fog filled, bump filled wrod. I just witnessed someone slide head first down Midway. Staying to get really wet in the cloud up to now. I'm skiing but yeah... Not gonna sugar coat it this is depressing.2 points

Don't know if this really counts as new gear but.....I scored a Mavic Mini....Absolutely hate the noise they make but some of the shots I've seen are pretty cool....Figured it would be good for the gravel rides/bikepacking or some of the cross country skiing/splitboarding (if we ever get some natural cover)....2 points

I saw on Teton gravity forums that park city patrol is in the process of striking and they are asking everybody to boycott vail resorts. I know a crazy 50 something bar legend who’s working the front desk at a swanky Deer Valley hotel this winter He’s making almost $20 an hour which is the most he’s ever made He worked at the lodge at the north rim of the Grand Canyon this last summer He lives in employee housing for $17 a night with two 20something roommates https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/345140-Fuck-Vail!-Here-s-how1 point

I can't see Sunday happening. I wouldn't be surprised if they closed Monday and Tuesday to hit it hard when the cold sets in.1 point

I’m not happy that they’re closed tomorrow but I am happy they took to decision to ride tomorrow out of my hands. Lol1 point

You’re right. Maybe I’ll get out there. CB has been great from 9-1130 every morning. It’s crowded, however they have a season pass line this season so it’s always under 5 minutes in line.1 point

It was good today. The weather wasnt shit, unless of course you expected to get bronzed up. They moved the tubing hill to upper main, no big loss there, though. Midway continues to be like1 point

First hour was grate with no crowd and hero snow. You’re right about the crowd. Race teams and rentals came out and picking through lessons and people got spicy. Lazy was my ROTD but Midway to lower was pretty good too. I love the 8 am opening during the week.1 point
