Turns out, the snow isn’t happening until tomorrow afternoon, so today is a beautiful sunny day. Figured we’d try the smaller disconnected area served by First lift in the morning. Only one bus stop away. Could’ve walked really, if it was not for boots. Got there 10 mins ahead of opening time, but the doors stayed closed until 8:05, which was extremely annoying, but then, only 3 stations away, was the skiing area that we were after. Beaaautiful, albeit very windy. Spent some time on the ridge walk while they were opening further lifts. Now back at home eating and preparing to take a train to Kleine Scheidegg to ski until the closing time.16 points

Setting the mood: Free Fall (Coming Soon) is now open for business! After an official AF velvet ribbon cutting, we were on our way! Best run on the mountain and the last pitch that drips into Paradise is fantastic. Picturesque views of the base village. The snow and grooming were great thanks to the new guns. What a gem of a trail. @GrilledSteezeSandwich @Johnny Law @AtomicSkier @theprogram4 and others were out shredding the gnar. Short session for me before some work stuff. Glad to get out to enjoy it!15 points

Currently packed to head out to the beautiful Grand Canyon state. Plan is to ski Arizona Snowbowl tomorrow and Saturday, leave Flagstaff, drive to then Grand Canyon Saturday night. Hang out there Sunday (trying to get in on a little GC sunrise) the down to the valley on Sunday to drop my kid off at school. Arizona Snowbowl is a place that I've been intrigued by since driving past it on the way to the GC in 1999. Just something really neat to me about skiing on a defunct volcano in the middle of the high desert. Not your typical western ski area for sure but it's on a big ass mountain...lift served elevation is at 11,500 feet with hike to open bowl skiing up top at 12k. Total vert is 2800 feet. 777 acres of skiing with 260 inches on average. In other words...its legit. They have 78 inches logged thus far this season and the next few days look like blue bird skiing under the Arizona sunshine with highs around 30. Stoked to say the least. LFG.13 points

Well, Kleine Scheidegg sucked big time. Beautiful vistas, a 30 minute ride by train zigzagging up the slope, and a total circus on top. Sooooo many people, so few and so narrow trails, totally scraped to some frozen base. There was one trail going all the way down along the rail track, absolutely unreal views, but it’s narrow, green and is the only way to go down except for a gondola or train ride. So folks of all abilities end up flying, pizzaing, standing or passing. Thinking of either repeating First tomorrow morning or trying Mähnnlichen.8 points

Today was le tits and felt like real mtn skiing. The new trail is fantastic with significant girth and tons of line options. Personally at the moment I like the wip; go far right up the knob before the last pitch set the arc at a super attack and come plunging into the last pitch all dick out shits on fire yo. The optics of the trail are super good, great views and it looks nice while skiing. Some how I forgot all this after skiing it last year but it's different as a groomer. Right side upper main was glacial but wad irrelevant with coming soon. Tom Petty all day kinda skiing.7 points

Watched the video from blue. Tough break for that lone snowboarder who had to hop a couple times while the skiers pushed away6 points

Another dad with a college kid sitting next to us is wearing his loafers, pleated Dockers... Dressed like the dad from Alf. Meanwhile I'm sitting here in a Patriots hoodie and sweatpants and headphones. Literally has me questioning whether I need to reevaluate things...lol Edit...I've reevaluated. I'm good4 points

Toast I think pointed out there is half a path cut already from homestretch up towards p dis. They should extend it, mow down a 12ft wide path next to p dis that is the coming soon return. Straight through the trees and let it get those speed bump style humps. It would be like a Jerry trap and maybe thin the numbers coming off coming soon into p dis.3 points

I really felt like it was a teachable moment for my daughter. A reminder from me on how lucky she is to have a cool ass dad. There are kids everywhere not as fortunate unfortunately. I'm sure the dad's of pasr can all relate.3 points

I would definitely go with the Belgian waffle cabin. But I’m afraid they’re going to let it bump up.3 points

Got there a little bit late, did one run on Paradise which was nice, then spent the next two hours on freefall. Was expecting marbles and death cookies, but the condition was unbelievable. And it held up pretty well when I left at 12:30, still blowing on the top half of the mountain. Agree with Johnny Law about his description of the signature move on Free Fall, hard not to use the slow sign as a gate. But they definitely are going to have a problem with the merge onto Paradise, and the run out to under the lifts. Hard to keep it slow when you’re pumped with adrenaline. Having a separate trail at the bottom would be great. Didn’t see any redcoats slowing us down later in the morning.3 points

GSS just likes to shit on Bear creek any chance he gets, if you’re limited to tele BC would be the place to go, especially if you’re looking midweek as the place is usually empty.3 points

I remember taking the kids back and forth and going to college functions etc and thinking age wise I felt a lot closer to being IN college than to having a kid in college lol2 points

you have a TON of speed coming into Paradise, and the trail is steepest just before the merge. can go mach loony 😂2 points

3 out of four runs on it there was ski patrol telling people to slow down. It’s a smooth transition but you come into a wall of people with a lot of speed. I was sort of fake scrubbing speed doing a little wiggle shuffle.2 points

Was on the snow 430-730 tonight with a beer and peanut butter cracker break in the middle. 32° and clear skies for a nice sunset. Saw Johnny Law ’s car but never caught up with him. Buses were back in the lot and a lot of special people out. Waited for JL at the top for a couple minutes and had 3 people ski over my tails. Slight line from 5-6 but VIP was wide open so not much waiting. First half of Lazy had the best snow and the rest of it was pretty much scraped off. Midway to Lower wasn’t bad but had some dark spots with lights out. Shuttle was pretty technical with the amount of snowboarders walking and people struggling to get across. Excited for more terrain to open and hopefully spread some people out. I’m interested to see how the new lights on Coming Soon look while skiing. They look super bright.2 points
