Yeah...a win there. I'm so done with layovers. I love ABE but lesson learned here for sure. Everything was smooth in Phoenix. Had I hopped on a plane to Philly I'd be at home making a nespresso right now. It is what it is. Shit happens. My kid is all set at school, had a blast skiing on a new mountain, saw the sunrise and sunset at the grand canyon...all worth it x 100000000000.9 points

Fill out those surveys they keep sending us telling them their lifts "greatly impacted the experience you would expect from a top notch resort", or something to that effect.5 points

My favorite delay out of Jackson was the mechanic didn't initial the checklist and we had to wait for him to drive back down from Idaho Falls or Driggs or Eeast Bumfuck to sign off...5 points

Got 20 runs in today. Snow was perfect everywhere except The Falls had tons of cookies. I was glad they turned the guns off for awhile because it was CAF. Cold weather kept the crowds down. Quad stopped a couple times, but it wasn’t bad. Skiing tomorrow and most likely not back again until next Tuesday. MLK weekend, think I’m gonna stay away.4 points

I think the guns were turned off because of a pipe break at the very top of Main Street. They had some heavy equipment repairing it this morning, and turned the guns back on around 11 or so. Good conditions all around. The quad was down for about 10 minutes when I left a little after 1 PM. Got there a little before 10, and lapped freefall and Main Street for most of the day. Moderately strong wind coming up the hill at the bottom of Main Street4 points

Flying can be stupid annoying and like everything else some of the employees are so dumb it's hard to comprehend but it is still flying. The alternatives aren't really alternatives and your still riding along half way to space drinking a soda and watching tv. It's so dope we totally take it for granted. Luggage on a ski trip can be a real pain in the ass but that's also on the skier. Fly with one kit and the essentials that are hard to rent carry on or your asking for trouble eventually.4 points

Drove past Blue on the way home from ABE...looked like the Blue mountain I know. Made a ton of snow since I was there last week! Miss AZ but happy to be home after a loooonnnnnggggg ass commute. Great time regardless3 points

It boggles my mind when people check their ski boots...that’s always carryon.3 points

Switch is still top 5 trails on the hill...they gotta run the sixer the quad is down every 20 min. Maybe going to try to get up in the morning tomorrow, mad work shit but I got the itch3 points

Coffee situation in the room is excellent. They have a machine that allows you to make up to 2 cups at once. They give you 2 packets of regular and real half and half (as opposed to the powder).3 points

Switchback is a good trail to blow on when it's windy, since it's surrounded by trees. Unfortunately it's only got the old, manual guns on it that require human attention.3 points
-
Yeah, maybe. It is also super windy here right now. They have been going almost non-stop since the start of the new year. I can't really complain about them stopping for a few hours right now even though it is prime weather. Blue has done an incredible job of getting things open.3 points

I totally agree with this, and i think everybody here understands the reason behind this logic. I'm not a fan of the quad being the main chair. I would prefer just to ride that lift when i want to ski Zinc or Swim. The only good thing about them running the quad is that it seems like people tend to forget about the trails down towards main, and just stay right by the quad. But, they will get crushed on social media if they dont have access to their new trail mon-thurs. And of course, they cant really publicly come out and say why they are doing it. They can pretty much put on a snowmaking show that rivals most on the East Coast, but they cant make the lifts run right. The parking lot is fine, the Valley lodge is what it is, money needs to be spent on the lifts.3 points

ABE is a shit airport to fly out of. It’s low priority. It’s why for the last several years I just fly out of Newark or Philly. Not worth complaining about something out of your control. You’ll get back tomorrow maybe before lunch time.3 points

When I instructed there four of us had a room on the second floor of that building on the right....We had it for a few seasons to use as we saw fit....2 points

i wish i could remember it better. the only recollection i have was the boot up area up the stairs that smelled like shit and eating PB&Js in the learning shack for lunch. ...and struggling with the t-bar.2 points

it's too cold to blow blue mountain gack, only fine gun pow comes out now. Will resume when the temps are marginal again.... (I appreciate what the snowmakers do but sometimes you just gotta wonder how come the product is not better with optimal temps. You see it done at other mountains?)2 points

All the airlines have a labor shortage..at least the delays are on the way home. You’ll get home when you get home. I’ve had trips home from Jackson hole take 4 hours or 2.5 days.2 points

This x1000. After getting screwed over too, I'm thrilled to drive to PHL or EWR for a direct flight, even if it costs extra.2 points

I stayed at the Village Center at Big Sky a couple of years back...Had water leaking in around a window from snow melt...Management handled it poorly so I wrote an email to Big Sky ...The next year I stayed there in a full blown suite for 5 nights for $200.....Slope side/ski in..out/unobstructed mountain veiw....2 points

^ agree! In room coffee is sacred. I am way too cheap to buy a $5 bottle of water though. I am a tap water gal wherever I go. *Except for Hawaii now I guess. My son tells me the military’s fuel tanks are leaking into the water supply (and have been for years). I I will have to break down and do bottled water if I go visit him. glad you had such a good time in AZ. Nice to see you so happy, I know that’s your favorite place.2 points

My boots don’t fit on carry on, plus they always make me check my carry on anyway i cant remember the last time they let me bring my carry-on onto the plane1 point

You can move in with @GrilledSteezeSandwich. I'm sure he wouldn't mind splitting the cost.1 point

Not good. Sounds like they need to come back and actually fix the issue.1 point

Not quite an actual trail, it’s kind of like x-ing. Pops out the side of Vista and cuts the corner to drop into Connector. Maybe 200 feet long. They built the ropes course next to/around it including the aforementioned zip line. It might be where they used to have the Big Air Bag, but that may have been right on the side of Vista1 point

Agreed. I have no problem skating from the six pack to Coming Soon. It will keep lots of people off it, too.1 point

The brutal honesty is airlines don't give AF about people who fly a few times per year. Complain all you want, they might give you some paltry credit so you'll end spending more money with them. Hardly "free".1 point

Are you staying at the airport? When did they rebook you for? What's the coffee situation at the airport hotel?1 point

Or repurpose one of those old paddle tows that they have laying behind the groomer shack up top. Unless they sold them.1 point

Coming soon has an experts sign right so run the sizer and make it skate to terrain Monday through Thursday mornings. The quad won't run as the main valley chair all season1 point

With the weather we have had the past few days, and this weeks weather, they should be 100% open by the weekend. but i think they will fall short.1 point

complain on twitter. the fact that the flight is almost complete complicates things though. if you are still at the gate, you could ask the agent for a better seat, but it's prob a small plane since you're going to allentown. for the future (for you and others) - i'm not sure who you're flying with, but was able to get fully refunded on american for a flight due to a stop being added (thank god because i couldn't extend the covid credit further and i didn't want the aggravation of planning a trip long in the future in just a few days). mainly pointing that out in case prices were to have gone down after it was switched. refund and rebook to save $$. but try twitter first. i have maybe 10 followers and no twitter clout, but i have always received a response. sometimes they'll go above and beyond - after a bunch of calls to dell and no traction, i sent a tweet saying something like 'thanks dell, now i have a fire hazard in my bathtub' and they replaced my laptop battery that was out of warranty for free. american also finally got me vouchers from a few years back. i managed to figure out a way to game their policy of expiring vouchers, got them extended another year. the phone agents didn't know how to (or didn't want to) handle it.1 point
