Finally drove up to see the progress on my cabin and order some kitchen cabinets. driving in my neighborhood On the drive up I was thinking I would check out the 4 x 4 road that goes up to the top of the hill to see if it would be skiable. Coincidentally, my new neighbors were at the base of it, putting on skins. They reported it wasn’t an epic ski down but it was fun and would be right outside my door. This is the start of the road The road up to my house is about an 8% grade so I could pretty much ski back down to my driveway.8 points

Hey All, I’m back from another fun morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 830am and it was about 30 degrees out and they were just shutting the snowmaking cannons on Swizzle Bizzle. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Toast, Bethlehem ford guy, BenM, Johnny Law, Justo, Rodney and many others. First civilian quad and first Razors edge of the season. The snow was OK, I’m sure better than yesterday’s frozen chicken thighs but smooth and firmish. I skied razors twice then to freefall where there was a patroller who said it was ungroomed. It was basically chalky, icy and barely bumps. A bit more of a workout. Main Street was the run of the day and I think I skied that four times. The line for the quad was almost a full corral. Probably 5-6 minutes which is long for 10am on a weekday. We went to the main street chair which had zero wait but it stopped a half dozen times. The quad stopped a few times as well but all short stoppages. As if the first time skiing razors wasn’t exciting enough, we all made first descents down widowmaker from the top and it was very nice snow to midway to lower Main. One last quad run the VIP side was slightly less crowded and into the lot just after 1030. They started running the six pack around 1040. In the lot it was in the mid to upper 30s which is mad goldilocks..not to warm, not to cold, just right. I had a beer or two and a soft pretzel and hungout almost an hour. Now back to work like a dork and ready to start the weekend role call thread. JADIP5 points

I see in my mind a field of typical Blue mountain snow/grooming cookies the size of frozen chicken thighs. Not a pleasant vision.3 points

Hey All, It’s almost another weekend, not just any weekend but MLK weekend where skiers celebrate African American heritage on the slopes. It looks to be cold with possible snow later in the weekend. Is anybody planning on skiing Blue mountain the true mountain? I’m thinking opening to ??? Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Got to get it while the getting is good.2 points

Main Street is the only sure thing. I’m thinking coming soon will be groomed sometimes..it’s not bumps on it now, just ungroomed. Sometimes half of challenge is bumps...nightmare is usually bumped up but with dreamweaver now a boardercross course and terrain park who knows. The only sure bump run is Barney’s bumps.2 points

White lightning ends 100 feet from a lift. If that trail was a ripper the carnage would be next level at the bottom and at least one person per year would get fished out of that lake.2 points

Yeah I tend to agree. It makes sense, though. It forces people to slow down coming into Paradise... but it takes away from how great that trail is. It reminds me a bit of White Lightning at Montage. That would be an absolute ripper if they groomed it and it wasn't all bumps. Oh well.2 points

Glad you got a chance to ski a weekday. Do it more often! Had a great time today, more crowded than yesterday. Hiked from 6 to Coming Soon twice, definitely worth the walk, and you had the trail to yourself. I probably won’t ski until Tuesday. Have to work and have some family stuff. Probably be a shit show anyway, MLK weekend.2 points

I decided to work from Bleu this morning and take my calls while sliding on snow. I strolled to the lift at 10:15/10:30am and chatted with BenM & JohnnyLaw on their way out. i love razors… usually. But It felt like frozen chicken thighs especially on the top head wall. Lots of vibration. favorite run was Lazy Mile to Crossover to Falls. I thought it was great. Meandered around. Had a great time. i was surprised there was so many people but it was likely because the quad wasn’t running. occasionally i would notice the quad turning. after 10 runs, I headed back to work. I should definitely ski midweek more. It was lovelllllly. Super grateful of them churning out so many trails!2 points

With coming soon being a legit trail for the first time I don't think there is a good answer outside of run both. I would think the sixer is more reliable but not blowing onto the quad will help alot2 points

Another fun Thursday night, ski’d with Nastar Glenn, a few runs with Edge and Dirtwolf- I got to yell “Dirtwolf!!!” in the doubles line which always makes my night, beers with PSUFlyguy, schifdawg and skinancy! No Ridge sighting… Edit: Quad was running smooth all night until 8ish, I just assumed they shut it down? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Yeah that’s what I meant by “imbedded” as opposed to typical loose cookies. That there would be the true Himalayan snow leopard of fuk/$hit snow. Totally jelly of skiinyc if she got those goods1 point

What a shit show tonight. Quad line was crazy. It seemed like all of BMR was in da house completely disregarding pass scanner (taking and jumping up to front of line. They had razors closed so didn’t even get a chance to ride it. Snow was great otherwise.1 point
