Gorgeous day today. Decided to take my dog snowshoeing this morning and save skiing for the w afternoon because…why not? Washington Gulch is always gorgeous and usually empty, even on a weekend. 1 degree when I arrived but felt warm in the sun. Saw this group of 4 skinning up. There is an area called Coney’s that I have had my eye on but it is avalanche prone. Right now the avy danger is low. When my friends come up I am gonna see if they want to check it out. Then in to the skiing after lunch. Lines were about a 5 min wait so not bad. Closer to home lift lines are nuts on weekends. First run down Paradise Bowl and it was surprisingly icy and really scraped off. Decided to head down to the Teocalli Lift which is painfully slow but has good practice bumps and trees. Bump pic for @indiggio The bus is hella crowded in the afternoon, standing room only. Am I the only one who gets paranoid they will eat shot stepping off in ski boots holding skis/poles? Hey all, I’m back from a fun Saturday morning at Blue mountain. I arrived at the lower lot before 720am and it was 2 degrees with clear skies and light winds. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Johnny Law, Ridge, BenM, Enjorales, Enjorales, Enjorales, cousin, Faldo, boo bear, Ryan, mute, Charles, Bethlehem Ford Guy, Toast, Justo, TheRealKT, Mixiliplix, Schifdawg, Nancy, Indiggio, Dirtwolf, Salty, and many others. First Six pack and first run on challenge which was super nice although my nose and snot was frozen. Sidewinder was decent, Main Street and switchback were boner doner, paradise was a little marblely. I skied challenge the most and even had a foray over to lower widowmaker to midway. No real liftlines during the ten runs i skied from 8-940am. A fun parking lot with beer and chips and thawing out my poor toes...it was nice having good conditions that’s fornsure and tomorrow AM should be nice as well. JADIP9 points

Super super good day, really good snow and cold but not nearly as bad as last weekend. Good to have side back and I love the rollers, its such a good rhythm section like air turn air air turn turn air. Justo showed me the communist side of coming soon which is hyper fun and slashy terrain is rare at blue. Shit was rocking when I left they are making some bank......once I'm not there pack them in like sardines9 points

22 Jan BV: quick post and I gotta boogie - driving back today. They opened wilderness peak for first time this season today. Huge backcountry tour scene here also. As noted above this place skis small but still manages to punch above its weight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk8 points

Roundtop was great. Lines never exceeded 2 min. New mini glade is fun as were Ramrod and Gunbarrell. Never waited more than 3 min in line. Super friendly locals to chat with on lifts. Got 16 runs in. Good call. No food purchased.5 points

A cold and frosty skifari hitting gore, pico and magic with Mrs SnoBumski, Gore was awesome, the steeps that we ski’ d were a lil scratchy but bumps on chattie and anything’ the groomer hit were money, slow grippy snow could just let ‘em run’. too old for pics other than a fab selfie. Not quite B2B but close, cheers to MrsSnoBunSki consiDering the temps.4 points

Another great morning. A crispy 13ish degree but was nice and comfortable under the blasting sun. Little complaint; can you drop the rope at 9? I think it didn’t drop till 905 which seems to be the norm? They opened A lift around 11 which lighten the lift lines to next to no wait for about an hour before we left around noon. Pretty happy with the SS 180 5050 180 out.4 points

Nice, report.. I miss Breaker! I was up there today too, buy really did not get off the top mountain. I decided Montage was a good place to take my friend since it was her first time skiing this year and overall she is still learning. We got on the mountain around 10 am spent most time over on Upper FasTrack and Upper Runaway. The conditions were nice and lift line was non existent. We took a break and I picked up some Revellos too, but I felt guilty since Im a Colarussos fanboy. Haha. After food, I got her down Lower Runaway twice, but by 130, it was getting a bit slick and we called it quits after she took a decent spill on the last headwall on Lower Runaway. Overall a nice low key/relaxing day. Conditions and crowds were fantastic before noon on the upper mountain... Would have liked to check out Boomer and Smoke, but will save the legs for Blue in the morning... Legs still tired from volleyball double header on Thursday. (Sorry, no pics)4 points

Speaking of north of the slopes, apparently they are trying to put in a convenience store and gas station (and apartment building) at the intersection of covered bridge and smith gap road (north east side). https://www.tnonline.com/20220121/retail-center-proposed-in-l-gap-plans-call-for-restaurant-gas-pumps-conv/?fbclid=IwAR2H4yFc5YTN4fiCfysSEbcqlZSaCl2mpqY8hMracuSVT45yxTChiuiC33s4 points

Super solid morning up at Shawnee. Arrived around 9. 12° and light breeze. Used my Indy pass for the first time. So easy. On the snow a little after 9:15. Took a run off of the HS quad to check out snow. Great snow. Got to the bottom and threw on my skins. Ended up doing 3 skin laps. Not many places around here allow it but SP was super chill about it and would wave on their way down and were chatting it up at the top. No designated trails so it’s players choice on the way up. One way to make 12° Feel warm is to earn your turns I was soaked with a long sleeve and a shell. Around 2000’ elevation gain and no lift lines on those laps 🤣 Ended the day with a few more runs off of the quad and called it. Really excited to get back here again!3 points

Planning to get to Montage for the first time in years within the next two weeks, shooting for a Wednesday. There may not be anyone else there! Last time there (a long time ago!!) I watched the fog bowl in the lodge.....3 points

TR 1-22. Rolled in at 8:40 and the parking lot was already full back to the Bear Creek sign, never a great thing to see. Got first chair on E and went over to F for the morning. Grizzly was sweet all morning, Broadway was nice and easy to carve, Timberline was really nice! They no longer close Timberline completely for racing, just one side of it and they left the best part for us! Even with the crowd no real waits on the line until about 10:30. Left the hill at 11 to start my work. Everyone I talked to all afternoon was loving the conditions. All in all, JADIP for a Saturday.3 points

There is a nice layer of ice on the streets under the little bit of fresh snow. It’s a sketchy game walking in ski boots to the bus. We will see how long it takes until I lose. 16 degrees and light snow when I arrived at the mountain. Visibility was poor so I opted for Red Lady instead of Silver Queen lift. That terrain turns into pea soup quick. Did some runs off the front, then headed down to East River. On low viz days it’s always a bit better down there. Snow was better down there too. It has not snowed here in a while so happy for what was falling today to freshen things up. It was the first day of my short season that I felt good on my skis. Non existent lift lines. Friday is the new Saturday closer to the front range, so this was nice! Gonna be bluebird next 2 days. Trees pretty cruddy and icy.2 points

I returned to Vermont for the 2nd week in a row since some friends decided to meet up there. Rolled in at 9, one friend unfortunately waited for about an hour for rentals so definitely would reccomend renting off mountain for those that need to. Just as busy as last holiday week and staff in the lodge was a bit thinner. Word is Elk has not been unaffected by staff shortages but I think all things considered they have been managing pretty well. Still no north double. Similar ~5min lines, north quad line moved much slower than east doubles as expected. Snow quality was amazing, best I've skied since Plattekill powder day last year. Blue skies and fairly cold but Elk doesn't seem to get that windy those spruce and pine trees really do help Lehigh open on natural snow. Pretty fun run There are zero tracks in the woods lmao if you want to get your pass pulled seems like there would be enough snow. Tunkhannock and middle of Seneca left ungroomed and are beginning to bump up nicely. Tunkhannock was a bit icy though. Big whales on bottom of Seneca those will probably be pushed out. Kickapoo and several additional blacks are open nearing 100% terrain. Run of the day was the race course which opened when they were done. Amazing amazing snow Stopped at Denny's in Scranton to destroy our arteries and managed to avoid the monkeys on the loose on I80 best headline of the year so far lol https://abc7.com/monkey-truck-crash-danville-pa-monkeys-escape/11498297/ https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/21/us/monkeys-truck-crash-pennsylvania.html1 point

Yeah, he wasn’t really directing traffic as much as he was just pointing to the auxiliary lot and trying to get as many people as possible to turn in there. Since he was a Blue employee and not a cop (like they have had in the past) I’m pretty sure that’s all he was there to do.1 point

You gotta get in on the what temp on the way up, we need as many samples as possible for accuracy. Coldest I had was -1 when I pulled in the bottom lot.1 point

This is super exciting. Looking forward to getting there, especially if I can uphill. Rattler is one of my favorites because it’s basically just a cat track through the woods.1 point

21jan Bolton Valley: woke up to -13F so kinda not in a hurry to get outside. Left waitsfield at 9AM and to BV 45 min later. Access road got some STEEP sections. Spicy weather would be interesting… BV reporting 20” in the last 8 days but nothing in the last 72 hr. wilderness peak not open so basically one lift up. My impression of BV is if you mash up smuggs and Magic you get BV. If you like ripping groomers this place is not for you. But it got a gazzilion rabbit holes to poke around in and I was having a hoot. The snow off trail was still pretty good - guess arctic temps will do that.Temps warmed to maybe 4F today but at least no wind so if you dressed like an astronaut you were fine. Plan is to hit opening here tomorrow and ski to noonish and head home tomorrow. Looking forward to another day here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
