  1. A cold and frosty skifari hitting gore, pico and magic with Mrs SnoBumski, Gore was awesome, the steeps that we ski’ d were a lil scratchy but bumps on chattie and anything’ the groomer hit were money, slow grippy snow could just let ‘em run’. too old for pics other than a fab selfie. Not quite B2B but close, cheers to MrsSnoBunSki consiDering the temps.

  2. Today's food offerings were pretty awesome. Snow was good all around, parking lot was great as usual. Last run I told @antman12 we should hit coming soon. He said ok one last run but really gotta hit the bathroom. Of course then it was a 20 minute wait for the quad, followed by us getting stuck when it broke down for a bit Only pics I took today...Wally and the mighty blue marsh ski area

  4. Today was good good. Ever since Blue re-opened after that rainy warm spell the place has been on point. Nice PASR crew today. Big thanks to @enjoralas for his meat skills. I luckily got to dabble a bit when I got back from my run.

  5. I returned to Vermont for the 2nd week in a row since some friends decided to meet up there. Rolled in at 9, one friend unfortunately waited for about an hour for rentals so definitely would reccomend renting off mountain for those that need to. Just as busy as last holiday week and staff in the lodge was a bit thinner. Word is Elk has not been unaffected by staff shortages but I think all things considered they have been managing pretty well. Still no north double. Similar ~5min lines, north quad line moved much slower than east doubles as expected. Snow quality was amazing, best I've skied since Plattekill powder day last year. Blue skies and fairly cold but Elk doesn't seem to get that windy those spruce and pine trees really do help Lehigh open on natural snow. Pretty fun run There are zero tracks in the woods lmao if you want to get your pass pulled seems like there would be enough snow. Tunkhannock and middle of Seneca left ungroomed and are beginning to bump up nicely. Tunkhannock was a bit icy though. Big whales on bottom of Seneca those will probably be pushed out. Kickapoo and several additional blacks are open nearing 100% terrain. Run of the day was the race course which opened when they were done. Amazing amazing snow Stopped at Denny's in Scranton to destroy our arteries and managed to avoid the monkeys on the loose on I80 best headline of the year so far lol https://abc7.com/monkey-truck-crash-danville-pa-monkeys-escape/11498297/ https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/21/us/monkeys-truck-crash-pennsylvania.html

  6. Anthony’s was great! Took me back in time for sure. It was super old school in there, we ate A LOT. We had some long hots with prosciutto and provolone first, then I had some “piggy soup”. We had a tray of old forge thin crust red, and I ordered some ricotta gnocchi with vodka sauce and a huge meatball. It was 10/10. I pooped 3 times on Saturday morning.

  7. Today was sooo good and like right back to really good snow. I love the rhythm section on side, hammer down through the left, stay super tight right and then it gets super interesting, three rollers with perfect spacing while the skis are just absolutely crackling with speed. Right before the second air out of 3 my brain is screaming slow down but onward we push ever faster into the 3rd air and then it's land and instantly full rudder right max angulation and you can go to plaid kinda speed into the cutover. I could do that everyday for the rest of my life and be super happy. Upper main was 11/10 snow and switch was so good I did it like 6 times in a row. Top notch lot session, nicks grandma's pepperoni rolls and venison backstrap, bomb ass pizza from Schiff all expertly prepared by Enjo who also had 4938392 treats of his own. The shrimp alone would have been a feast. Old forge style pizza is super good, American cheese grease adds something super nice to the flavor. Super super good weekend makes me wish it was arctic every weekend.

  8. Hey All, I’m back from another fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 722am and in the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Toast, JohnnyLaw, PSUFly, Mixilplix, Nancy, Schif, Enjorales, Pops, Dirtwolf, Matt Edge, TP4, Indiggio, Johnny Law, Enjorales cousin, Falco, Charles, Antman and many more. First run on challenge was a carpet, super nice, Sidewinder was alright some mini cookies, Main Street was super nice on top and a little rolly Polly on the bottom and switchback was super good. Paradise had new manmade and I even did lazy once and it was fine. No real lifflines while I was skiing. I seemed to be a bit out of it today, I barely slept Saturday night then had an epic nap after skiing yesterday and slept a little overnight..I skied alright and didn’t drool on myself just some snot. The lot was fun, good beer drinking and sausage Sunday in full effect with sausage, pork, pizza and venison...today is my last day at Blue until after Jackson hole in 1.5 weeks+...since I’m not around I expect good reports from everybody. 9. Sweet tracks! I'm in the pic next to the pink jacket skier. It's like where's waldo. I'm bummed I missed the buffet but sounds amazing, as always. And thanks for dealing with Wally barking 🙉 I got a late start at Bleu. Came from NEPA last night so I skied from 9:30am - 1pm and just did laps. Sidewinder got progressively better throughout the day. I had a great day on the mountain! The line looked terrible. But since I was skiing solo most of the time, it went quick. I stayed in the VIP line on the left. I added to the groups and most of the time, it was only about 2-3 groups ahead. Bob corralling all lines made it 100x folds better. So grateful for him!

  10. You know there are plenty of trees across the top of Coming Soon, the majority of which have yellow snow surrounding them?

  11. Great day for sure! It’s been a few years since I rode, but it was fun to get back out there. I rode from 10am-4pm. A little icy on the first few runs, snow softened up a bit early afternoon then pretty much straight ice after 2-3pm and called it a day. It probably doesn’t help that my 11 year old AR7’s have no edges. Pretty sure I saw Justo cruising with a few others, but missed the rest of the early birds. I’ll have to let y’all know when I’m at Blue next and maybe we can link up for a few runs.

  12. So I was up that way after Blue on Saturday. Rolled in absolutely frozen and mom had some piggy soup ready to go to warm the soul. That might want out for some food to Leggios in plains and also ordered gnocchi with vodka sauce, along with a white pizza topped with fresh ricotta and tortellini with Alfredo sauce.

  14. Very fun morning. I got on the snow a little late around 820 after chatting a bit with @enjoralas in the lot. Then met up with skier @Mixilplix and the Bethlehem boyz for my first chair ride up. Proceeded to do three runs thru the new park which is a lot of fun and very well built. Credit to the groomers and park crew for the set ups. Then took a few runs with mixi and @PSUFly down switchback, sidewinder and paradise-dreamweaver. Then I told fly I was gonna hit the restroom quick then come back out and he said he was going to hit Coming Soon and take off. I figured why not I’ll do another quick run and bounce. A 15+ minute lift line and 10+ minute quad break down later we were finally at the top. SMH. My first time down coming soon besides last year when it was ungroomed. The top 2/3rds was really good conditions but the bottom third was pretty dicey. The trail itself is really cool though. Nice and wide and the banking on riders right will probably create some fun side hits. very fun morning!

  17. Oh yeah, it didn't take much searching for some good quality snow today, however they need to knock down Barney's and reset them to get rid of the ice floe that's in the troughs. As always, @enjoralas samplings where on point. Very much appreciated!

  20. Super solid morning up at Shawnee. Arrived around 9. 12° and light breeze. Used my Indy pass for the first time. So easy. On the snow a little after 9:15. Took a run off of the HS quad to check out snow. Great snow. Got to the bottom and threw on my skins. Ended up doing 3 skin laps. Not many places around here allow it but SP was super chill about it and would wave on their way down and were chatting it up at the top. No designated trails so it’s players choice on the way up. One way to make 12° Feel warm is to earn your turns I was soaked with a long sleeve and a shell. Around 2000’ elevation gain and no lift lines on those laps 🤣 Ended the day with a few more runs off of the quad and called it. Really excited to get back here again!

  21. Yeah, I thought about that. Actually went in the store there and they have the same one. When I bought this helmet, I wasn’t sure MIPS was worth the extra money, but it definitely is.

  22. Had a great day today. Out on the snow by 805, snow was perfect everywhere. Took a fall in the glades off Main Street, wasn’t going fast, but hit a small stump, don’t even know what happened, but the back of my head hit first. Thank God for helmets and MIPS. Thanks @indiggioand Slim for waiting and making sure I was ok. This is the dent in my helmet!

  23. Another nice night,Roughly an 1 1/2” on top . Kiddies were poaching Razors. I passed up Barneys and hit the 1/4 pipe on Freefall. Rollers all over to catch you if you weren’t paying attention.

  31. There is a nice layer of ice on the streets under the little bit of fresh snow. It’s a sketchy game walking in ski boots to the bus. We will see how long it takes until I lose. 16 degrees and light snow when I arrived at the mountain. Visibility was poor so I opted for Red Lady instead of Silver Queen lift. That terrain turns into pea soup quick. Did some runs off the front, then headed down to East River. On low viz days it’s always a bit better down there. Snow was better down there too. It has not snowed here in a while so happy for what was falling today to freshen things up. It was the first day of my short season that I felt good on my skis. Non existent lift lines. Friday is the new Saturday closer to the front range, so this was nice! Gonna be bluebird next 2 days. Trees pretty cruddy and icy.

  39. Yeah, he wasn’t really directing traffic as much as he was just pointing to the auxiliary lot and trying to get as many people as possible to turn in there. Since he was a Blue employee and not a cop (like they have had in the past) I’m pretty sure that’s all he was there to do.

  42. Greatest news ever is that they've been loading both expresses since about 10am, so a little bit of suffering on periodically stopping quad with an inevitably growing line, and life became beautiful. Grooming was impeccable on some trails like Main, Paradise or Lazy, but with plenty of cookies on others, worst one was probably Sidewinder, Switchback somewhat in-between. They've groomed TCS as well, so now it's way nicer, compared to how it was two days ago with bare ice on the right hand side and indescribable piles on the left, but grooming was far from perfect, with the bottom half being so uneven. Great morning. Sunny but coooold. Had to stop and buy toe warmers about an hour in.

  45. This new wintry mix is turning sloppy in Lancaster. I had to ski it in da moonlight before the rain melts it away. Wet and gliding surprisingly well on new tracks. The previous snow had been skiiable until wednesday Full🌝Moon It would be cool if the ski areas around here continued the party a bit later until like midnight especially under the full moon. I know there are some xc operations that do that.

  46. Woohoo, the most spontaneous, untimely, borderline inappropriate and irresponsible sprint for Jungfrau skiing region and back (at least for me, hopefully) is under way. Triple-vaccinated, twice-tested, with tedious (and not free!) paperwork for Switzerland certificates and entry forms, as well as the drive, checkin and loooooong security line are all behind our backs now. Three days of skiing and four nights of stay in a village of Grindelwald where we are supposed to arrive via a 3 hour train ride with 2-4 changes, depending on the route that sbb.ch will pick for us when we clear security and claim our luggage in Zurich. Each change is 5-10 mins only, which is going to be exciiiiiting! Rewatched North Face for the scenes from Kleine Scheidegg at the bottom of Eiger, for we’ll hopefully get there as well. It’s been snowing in Jungfrau daily for a few weeks, it’s going to be snowing there every day we’re there, I’m sure I’ll hate every minute of it.

  47. Today was amazing. It snowed last night, the forecast was iffy, so I checked webcams first thing in the morning and decided to go to, we’ll, First again. Second in line with only a girl with skis and a dog waiting ahead of us. It still snows a little, and the viz isn’t great, I can hardly see surrounding mountains, but it is what it is, and the gates open with two minute delay again… We’re riding up, getting past first station, and viz gets worse. Reaching second station, and it’s total milk. Fog is even inside the station. I pull the phone to check back on the cams, and yep it got worse on top as well, but at least I can see something on screen! At the final station it does look better, the problem is that the wind is howling, snow is blowing across, gaiter freezes solid, and we still can’t see anything for a safe run. Next chair lift to the very top is not running, so we’re taking the ridge walk again. Nothing to see out there, for there are clouds everywhere. By the time we’re back on snow I start feeling like those folks scaling up Eiger in North Face. But at least I have a way down. Chairs up aren’t spinning yet, and the attendant says that it’s gonna take at least another 30 mins, so we decide to ski down to the previous station. No viz, but the snow is awesome! It seems like there are 6” of fresh snow lying on groomed surface, so we’re just floating down while carefully watching the markers so that we don’t fall off the trail. The trail is also somehow shielded from the wind, so we don’t feel like frozen popsicles anymore. Got to the station, then up, then down again, it just felt sooo good… Some people started to form a line at the bottom of that delayed chair lift, we didn’t want to waste time waiting, so continued skiing and fantasizing about how great it must be up there… Finally the lift opened up, we hopped on it, reached the top, let the skis on the surface and immediately cursed. It was all frozen cord with snow just blowing across. In complete disbelief, half skiing, half scraping we proceeded down thinking “how can it be so shitty here when it’s so good only a little bit lower, snow has to change at some point”, but alas, before the thought even started to process, I suddenly hit an unseen pile of blown snow and flew head first. Soooooft!!! Later throughout the day we’ve found uniformly deep trails, icy spots and even some very decent groomers with at most an inch of new snow. The weather cleared up and went bad again. Viz fluctuated from “I can see everything around” to “I think there was a drop after this turn, where is it, a shit, here it goes!” It was a day of wildest skiing ever. From “I probably should just go back right away” to “Damn, is it time to get tested already??” And hardly any people, the locals are so spoiled!

  48. It was a looooong day today. Made a decision yesterday to go and check out Mähnnlichen, so walked to the train station in the morning with the idea to ride Interlaken train one stop to the Terminal where gondolas start, but then realized that another train to Kleine Scheidegg was leaving a few minutes earlier, and spontaneously decided to give it another try. It turned out great. Sunrise ride up the mountain in a completely empty train, then likewise hardly any people on the trails, in other words Kleine Scheidegg has totally redeemed itself during those few morning runs, and one hour later we skied down to the Terminal and proceeded to Mähnnlichen. It is a very different area, with wide groomers, and though there were already plenty of people who ascended both from Grindelwald and Wengen (Mähnnlichen is easily reachable from both), they’ve somehow spread out, so it was manageable. But I still think that First is the best crowd-wise. We looped those high elevation groomers for a while, then got a little bored, so had lunch (Swiss or EU COVID Cert is required to eat inside), somehow got ourselves back to Kleine and ventured on a long loop along rail tracks to Wengen. It’s a similar kind of a trail that is going in the other direction to Grindelwald, but it is far less travelled, so we just zoomed along, got really embarrassed when ordering drinks in some place along the trail only to find that it’s cash only, and we had only a few franks in our pockets, but otherwise had a very pleasant leisurely ride to Wengen. It’s a place worth exploring. The trail gets right in the middle of it, so from trees and slopes you literally end up crossing the streets and getting to a point where there’s a skating rink on the left and a gondola back to Mähnnlichen on the right. Rode up, paused for a drink watching how everybody was scrambling before incoming snow, skied slopes half way down to Grindelwald, realized that we can’t see shit and took gondola to the bottom. Phew.

  49. 1st turns of the season here if you can call 'em turns. Full moon and 8" of snow in North Creek NY. The hill behind the Airbnb is big enough to do about 5 turns on the xc skis, I've done about a dozen laps so far. Will be at Gore tomorrow, very hyped, hoping they can get the summit open. Finally feels like winter after 60 degrees last week - driving up the thruway, no snow there, but cars coming southbound with snow on them. We pull off the northway and the car temp reading starts plummeting as you go up in elevation 22, 21, 18, 16, 11, 10, 6... very nice
