  1. Got out for a quick two hours before work, only Kurt in the house. Blur skies and full sun made it feel warm and no wind. Snow is a continuation of this weekend. Challenge was a carpet, rasins was groomed and except for a few ice patches was very good. Switch and Main were perfect 10/10 snow though they are blowing full bore in come around so there is some loose blow over on upper main. Side in full sun is glorious though they did take a little off the top of the third roller. Quad sucked balls by 930 you had to use the vip and at 940 or so it stopped for 15 mins. That nuked the line but thankfully one of Kurt's crew was spying on the sixer and noticed it was now going and we could escape the quad. ROTD was Karl Marx they had blown on the CS headway which had filled it in with a nice inch in so of the super spongy. Super fun slash turns but they've built a very complicated exit out of the nets someone is going to be like a dolphin in a tuna net.

  3. oops I forgot I started this, here's the proper trip report: Prior to COVID Mrs SnoBunski and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary and some friends got us a gift certificate for a stay at Lincoln Inn B&B in Woodstock VT. This year we were finally able to use it and make do a little skfari, with a plan to ski Gore (NYS Frequent skier card), Pico (3 pack early discount card) and Magic (No Boundaries discount tix) Made it as far as Lake George Thursday evening for dinner at Adirondack Brewing, Friday morning set off for Gore at -9*. FSC’s scanned without a hitch, no lift lines and great snow. Did a basic Tour de Gore hitting all the pods. Everything groomed was smooth and grippy, bump line on Chattie was great and worth lapping a few times before lunch at Tannery. After the cookies at the top of Echo it was a screamer the rest of the way. Hullaballo was a bit scratchy in flat light so we assumed open Lies would be the same and skipped it. Tahawus was the run of the afternoon with great effort / reward ROI, you could just let ‘em run with some big GS turns. Bright sun and lack of wind kept the temps comfortable throughout the day but too cold for pics other than an obligatory fb selfie. Not quit B2B but very impressed Mrs S stayed out as long as she did. Abom gogs kept my usual hot head fogging issues at bay. Headed out for Woodstock with a dinner stop for good pizza and beer at Rutland Beer/Hop’n Moose. Settled into Lincoln Inn just in time for a VT Sapling Maple Bourbon nightcap. After an awesome breakfast we set out about 8:45, temps hovering -13 to -15*. Again no sun or wind so felt comfy when we pulled into Pico a half hour later. Everyone was booting up at their cars so we assumed that there was limited lodge ops. Probably not the best idea as Mrs S had foot/boot issues through out the day, and cut it a bit short after a bunch of groomers off the summit and a foray into the guns and wales. Not a lot of lifts running but no lines. Lapped Summit Glades for most of the day. Wings and beers at Long Trail and an early night. Magic on the way home, temps in the teens and low 20’s felt downright balmy. Red chair was running smooooth. Nice end to a mellow trip. Stuck mostly to the east side, lots groomer zoomers and fun bumps. Steeper stuff was ski’d off to slick troughs and/or dirt and rocks. Lift lines were 5-10 minutes, I just love the pace and vibe there. oh yea, and a pic of my avocado BLT with a bite taken out for @GrilledSteezeSandwich

  4. Another glorious morning here in CB! Got in line at 8:47 and was there first person. A few of us gathered waiting to be scanned. Then some guy riding a skateboard thing (don’t know what they are called) blows by everyone and gets right up to the closed sign. So I get up next to him but far enough away that his douchebaggery doesn’t get on me since he is dripping with it. When we get scanned he doesn’t have a pass. He is an instructor and says it in his CB jacket and he is just doing 1 run before work. The guy says he can’t let him ride without a pass. Bye Felicia! It was awesome. Quite cold this morning and I forgot my mid layer puffy like a dummy. First run down Paradise was fast snow but way too shady. Headed down to East River and the sun was already out there…nice. Felt like just lapping groomers today and they were fun. Back up to Paradise and the sun was out finally up there. Then headed to Teo for 2 quick bump runs. Well not exactly quick, but fun. Didn’t realize I only took 2 pics.

  9. Buoy wiggle this morning indicates something might be 5 days out. Could be the Beltzville sandfish just snacking off the algae on the bottom of it, but could also be something more. Keep an eye on the track of the potential Saturday weather event...

  11. I returned to Vermont for the 2nd week in a row since some friends decided to meet up there. Rolled in at 9, one friend unfortunately waited for about an hour for rentals so definitely would reccomend renting off mountain for those that need to. Just as busy as last holiday week and staff in the lodge was a bit thinner. Word is Elk has not been unaffected by staff shortages but I think all things considered they have been managing pretty well. Still no north double. Similar ~5min lines, north quad line moved much slower than east doubles as expected. Snow quality was amazing, best I've skied since Plattekill powder day last year. Blue skies and fairly cold but Elk doesn't seem to get that windy those spruce and pine trees really do help Lehigh open on natural snow. Pretty fun run There are zero tracks in the woods lmao if you want to get your pass pulled seems like there would be enough snow. Tunkhannock and middle of Seneca left ungroomed and are beginning to bump up nicely. Tunkhannock was a bit icy though. Big whales on bottom of Seneca those will probably be pushed out. Kickapoo and several additional blacks are open nearing 100% terrain. Run of the day was the race course which opened when they were done. Amazing amazing snow Stopped at Denny's in Scranton to destroy our arteries and managed to avoid the monkeys on the loose on I80 best headline of the year so far lol https://abc7.com/monkey-truck-crash-danville-pa-monkeys-escape/11498297/ https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/21/us/monkeys-truck-crash-pennsylvania.html

  14. Looking good antman; think I saw you in the a chair liftline. TR 1/24 was perhaps the best day at Bear this year! Snow was smooth and wonderful. ROTD Grizzly. TImberline a close second. Even with the event going on minimal to no lift lines. Kodiak was very nice up until we left at 1; Black Bear had really nice snow. Edgeable all over the mt. The wife did Extreme because the skiers right was looking real good and it was! Just a bit sketchy early in day to get to the good stuff. Blue Bird day! Also- kudoos to the lifties! Great staff this year.

  16. Sweet tracks! I'm in the pic next to the pink jacket skier. It's like where's waldo. I'm bummed I missed the buffet but sounds amazing, as always. And thanks for dealing with Wally barking 🙉 I got a late start at Bleu. Came from NEPA last night so I skied from 9:30am - 1pm and just did laps. Sidewinder got progressively better throughout the day. I had a great day on the mountain! The line looked terrible. But since I was skiing solo most of the time, it went quick. I stayed in the VIP line on the left. I added to the groups and most of the time, it was only about 2-3 groups ahead. Bob corralling all lines made it 100x folds better. So grateful for him!

  18. Beautiful night on the mountain. Conditions were great everywhere. Empty slopes, lines weren't at all bad. Coming Soon was ROTN as the freshly blown bumps were man made powdery goodness. I think I ran it four times. Switch was great as was sidewinder and razors. Reminded me of a spring night sesh with midwinter snow.

  23. Yeah, I thought about that. Actually went in the store there and they have the same one. When I bought this helmet, I wasn’t sure MIPS was worth the extra money, but it definitely is.

  24. Anthony’s was great! Took me back in time for sure. It was super old school in there, we ate A LOT. We had some long hots with prosciutto and provolone first, then I had some “piggy soup”. We had a tray of old forge thin crust red, and I ordered some ricotta gnocchi with vodka sauce and a huge meatball. It was 10/10. I pooped 3 times on Saturday morning.

  32. A cold and frosty skifari hitting gore, pico and magic with Mrs SnoBumski, Gore was awesome, the steeps that we ski’ d were a lil scratchy but bumps on chattie and anything’ the groomer hit were money, slow grippy snow could just let ‘em run’. too old for pics other than a fab selfie. Not quite B2B but close, cheers to MrsSnoBunSki consiDering the temps.

  34. My thought process was that I planned on poking around locally. I wasn't going anywhere extreme, so I didn't need the top of the line, lightest possible setup money could buy. I was in need of new boots and early last Spring, rumors were that Full Tilt was going out of business (now it's known that the line is being absorbed by K2), so, knowing I wanted a touring setup, began looking for the FT Ascendants and found them cheap over the summer. Full Tilt's always have worked for my feet, so it wasn't a big gamble. Then I was searching for a ski that I could use at Blue and since it's typically ice/hard pack, I wanted something stiffer than my favorite Sick Days that are just too soft when it's brutal cold. I wanted something that I could also ski the bumps on transition days, so something wider than my bump skis, but not crazy wide, hence the Black Crows Orbs. The Marker bindings had become available, so I went looking for a package deal online and when I found a shop that had both, made an offer, they countered, I countered, eventually settling on $950 for both. Searched around for skins and again didn't want to spend a shit-ton for how often I was going to use the setup, so went with the G3s. Still need to get around to cutting them. I also ran across a pair of Black Crow Duo poles on sale over the summer, so I picked them up as well. So far, so good with the Markers, at least in bounds at Blue and Whiteface. I made sure I can get into the tech binding and poked around the yard. I definitely need practice!

  35. Showed up around 8 30. Temperature checks in the parking lot. RFID scanners now, and contact free ticket pick up if needed. Just did 2 runs on boomer. Absolutely fantastic. Machine made "powder", ungroomed. Long haul opens in a bit, all trails should be open

  40. So I was up that way after Blue on Saturday. Rolled in absolutely frozen and mom had some piggy soup ready to go to warm the soul. That might want out for some food to Leggios in plains and also ordered gnocchi with vodka sauce, along with a white pizza topped with fresh ricotta and tortellini with Alfredo sauce.

  42. Today's food offerings were pretty awesome. Snow was good all around, parking lot was great as usual. Last run I told @antman12 we should hit coming soon. He said ok one last run but really gotta hit the bathroom. Of course then it was a 20 minute wait for the quad, followed by us getting stuck when it broke down for a bit Only pics I took today...Wally and the mighty blue marsh ski area

  43. Gorgeous day today. Decided to take my dog snowshoeing this morning and save skiing for the w afternoon because…why not? Washington Gulch is always gorgeous and usually empty, even on a weekend. 1 degree when I arrived but felt warm in the sun. Saw this group of 4 skinning up. There is an area called Coney’s that I have had my eye on but it is avalanche prone. Right now the avy danger is low. When my friends come up I am gonna see if they want to check it out. Then in to the skiing after lunch. Lines were about a 5 min wait so not bad. Closer to home lift lines are nuts on weekends. First run down Paradise Bowl and it was surprisingly icy and really scraped off. Decided to head down to the Teocalli Lift which is painfully slow but has good practice bumps and trees. Bump pic for @indiggio The bus is hella crowded in the afternoon, standing room only. Am I the only one who gets paranoid they will eat shot stepping off in ski boots holding skis/poles? Every.single.time
