Hey All, I’m back in Jackson hole for my 18th trip here. I skied here in 2002 and then 2005-2020 every year and missed last year cause of Covid. The flight from Newark was smooth and NMSki arrived a bit before us from Dallas. We have a sweet Chevy Tahoe rental and for those that care, the bagel place still requires a mask but apparently most places don’t which is nice. Back at the 49er me and Atomic Jeff are in the standard rooms and NMSki parlayed his southwestern charm into a fireplace suite. Sunny and about 20 degrees in town. We are heading to the brewery in like 25 minutes I guess late lunch. JADIJH11 points

@Benm @C1erArt @momskeeztoo and the regulars in the house this morning. Overcast with some flurries. Great conditions almost everywhere but Razors was a 10/10 carpet for the first run. Main Street and Switch were similar. Really no complaints again. Only the 6pack was running so TCS was hike only. Did my last run there and now I know what all the talk is about the left side. The trees and left side bumps of the guns are $$$ Also, MomSkis got a new helmet 🪖 👍11 points

As I am between hitting Vail and BC for Feb 8 I think I will skip this. Probably be at Montage with the girls on 1/29 (can you believe they are in HS now?) but will be sure to leave some snow for you folks to enjoy. For those who wanted a Greek Peak pic (From chair in lot area the day before the big snow)7 points

Theres A LOT more boarder at Bear Creek that dont wear helmets... a lot. Mostly younger park riders of course. I didnt wear a helmet till I was like 27. Foolish in hindsight. I remember one morning a few years ago waiting for the gates to open at blue and thinking to myself "wow im basically the only one not wearing a helmet". This is kind of corny but 100% true. A few weeks after I broke my arm I had a nightmare I took the same fall but I hit my head and was in the hospital with my entire family standing around my bed. When I woke up from that is when I decided it was time to get a helmet. I only told a few people about that, its kind of weird to put into words honestly.7 points

Are you really comparing an eagles game to skiing at blue? There’s multiple viable forms of public transit to get to the stadiums. Lemme know when I can take a train from my house to blue, then I’ll pay to park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

TR 1/25 absolutely best day of the season. Rolled in at 8:30, second chair. Kodiak was wonderful cord and stayed as great snow until I left at noon. Grizzly skiers right, Timberline, Broadway every bit as good as Kodiak. Only issue was in and out flat light. JADIP4 points

Still can't get over people not wearing helmets anymore, especially boarders.4 points

Beautiful night on the mountain. Conditions were great everywhere. Empty slopes, lines weren't at all bad. Coming Soon was ROTN as the freshly blown bumps were man made powdery goodness. I think I ran it four times. Switch was great as was sidewinder and razors. Reminded me of a spring night sesh with midwinter snow.4 points

oops I forgot I started this, here's the proper trip report: Prior to COVID Mrs SnoBunski and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary and some friends got us a gift certificate for a stay at Lincoln Inn B&B in Woodstock VT. This year we were finally able to use it and make do a little skfari, with a plan to ski Gore (NYS Frequent skier card), Pico (3 pack early discount card) and Magic (No Boundaries discount tix) Made it as far as Lake George Thursday evening for dinner at Adirondack Brewing, Friday morning set off for Gore at -9*. FSC’s scanned without a hitch, no lift lines and great snow. Did a basic Tour de Gore hitting all the pods. Everything groomed was smooth and grippy, bump line on Chattie was great and worth lapping a few times before lunch at Tannery. After the cookies at the top of Echo it was a screamer the rest of the way. Hullaballo was a bit scratchy in flat light so we assumed open Lies would be the same and skipped it. Tahawus was the run of the afternoon with great effort / reward ROI, you could just let ‘em run with some big GS turns. Bright sun and lack of wind kept the temps comfortable throughout the day but too cold for pics other than an obligatory fb selfie. Not quit B2B but very impressed Mrs S stayed out as long as she did. Abom gogs kept my usual hot head fogging issues at bay. Headed out for Woodstock with a dinner stop for good pizza and beer at Rutland Beer/Hop’n Moose. Settled into Lincoln Inn just in time for a VT Sapling Maple Bourbon nightcap. After an awesome breakfast we set out about 8:45, temps hovering -13 to -15*. Again no sun or wind so felt comfy when we pulled into Pico a half hour later. Everyone was booting up at their cars so we assumed that there was limited lodge ops. Probably not the best idea as Mrs S had foot/boot issues through out the day, and cut it a bit short after a bunch of groomers off the summit and a foray into the guns and wales. Not a lot of lifts running but no lines. Lapped Summit Glades for most of the day. Wings and beers at Long Trail and an early night. Magic on the way home, temps in the teens and low 20’s felt downright balmy. Red chair was running smooooth. Nice end to a mellow trip. Stuck mostly to the east side, lots groomer zoomers and fun bumps. Steeper stuff was ski’d off to slick troughs and/or dirt and rocks. Lift lines were 5-10 minutes, I just love the pace and vibe there. oh yea, and a pic of my avocado BLT with a bite taken out for @GrilledSteezeSandwich4 points

Agreed. Definitely some logistical issues. Especially with two lodge areas with parking instead of one. Still not concerned, we will adapt and drink/grill/whatever3 points

It seems like pay to park is becoming popular at ski joints everywhere. that being said, no reason to jump off the covered bridge just yet cause some guy on the lift told someone blue is gonna charge for parking. I do see some logistical issues with this though. (1) i dont know how they can do this with the traffic issues they already have. (2) pay to park to go to the ski shop? (3) pay to park to go to the fancy summit restaurant thingy?3 points

It is crazy to charge parking; think about it, a family of 4 comes in and pays for lift tickets, rentals ($100 per person for ticket and rental), $100 for food (if they are lucky) and then gets jabbed $40 to park. lol. I will say that paying for parking is going to keep me from going to Camelback or JF/BB. Greedy pigs trying to bleed us dry and ruin the sport. It won't keep away the NY/NJ crowd but will affect the local crowd.3 points

Sunny everyday. No snow..it is what it is but based on the guys NMSki was talking to at a local bathhouse, it seems like the town is pretty dead.2 points

I think you were on the lift with me when I was talking to another guy about that. People will walk from Palmerton 😂2 points

someone said it earlier - cbk attracts NY/NJ crowd who will pay for premium parking. that isn't blue's clientele. maybe blue can charge for that row at the top where we park and something close to the tubing maybe. i just don't see it happening.2 points

There have been people who've had a concussion, felt fine the next day or so but unknowingly had a brain hemorrhage and later succumbed to it. Concussions are nothing to ignore.2 points

I'm a jelly roll, hike only TCS is dope and the way it should be weekday mornings. The snow looks so good and grey PA winter mornings are what I think of when I hear the word winter. I say refer to that line by a communist of your choice, be interesting with your stashes and name matters eg Hydrox vs Oreos2 points

Technically you don't have to remove the toe piece for uphill mode, it simply flips forward. From what I've read/seen, the point is that for short uphill stints you can just leave them on the ski. For extended uphills, you're better off taking them off. You push the front tab down to unlock and flip the toe piece forward exposing two clips that you pinch to release it from the ski.2 points

He’s lucky. Concussions are weird. Never know how it’s going to turn out in the long run. We know so much more about them than we knew 10-15 years ago.2 points

No one cares you have pivots with cast plates, and use a rubber band to hold up the brakes. ❤️2 points

Think you should look at replacing the helmet, most ski helmets are like bike helmets, designed for one impact with crushable foam. When I crashed and was sledded off the slope a while ago, the ski patrol was pretty insistent about a new helmet. Last year at Sunday River a guy I ski with took a slow fall on a hard slope, and knocked himself out. A short time of rag dolling it and he came to nauseous and with only a five minute short-term memory. Pretty amusing actually. Quick trip to the hospital for a concussion. Fine after a few days. He had a hard shell lightly padded helmet designed for skeleton runs with multi impacts.2 points

Another glorious morning here in CB! Got in line at 8:47 and was there first person. A few of us gathered waiting to be scanned. Then some guy riding a skateboard thing (don’t know what they are called) blows by everyone and gets right up to the closed sign. So I get up next to him but far enough away that his douchebaggery doesn’t get on me since he is dripping with it. When we get scanned he doesn’t have a pass. He is an instructor and says it in his CB jacket and he is just doing 1 run before work. The guy says he can’t let him ride without a pass. Bye Felicia! It was awesome. Quite cold this morning and I forgot my mid layer puffy like a dummy. First run down Paradise was fast snow but way too shady. Headed down to East River and the sun was already out there…nice. Felt like just lapping groomers today and they were fun. Back up to Paradise and the sun was out finally up there. Then headed to Teo for 2 quick bump runs. Well not exactly quick, but fun. Didn’t realize I only took 2 pics.2 points

Add $12 to each ticket as a “parking fee” and boom, problem solved. probably wouldn’t work and I’m bad at math but it works in my head1 point

Thought Razors was pretty sweet too. Skied until about noon, and really needed my rocking chair in the parking lot. Talked with another boomer on the lift and it looks like they are going with the Camelback paid parking model next year. Got to pay for all that new gravel somehow.1 point

I used to be pretty into BMX, especially street stuff (rails, ledges, etc). I was one of the few people I rode with that wore a helmet. Always baffled me that most people will wear a helmet at a skate park but not when doing a 10 stair rail and riding on concrete/asphalt1 point

Would love to see them. Gotta gather more intel. I'll only be up on Saturday morning this weekend.1 point

Does “I’m dropping someone off” still work as an excuse to drive into the main lot when it’s full?1 point
