  1. Wow I slept a lot of hours....bagel place opens in a little less than an hour and we are leaving for the hill at 750am. Last night we went to Pizzeria Caldera, it was very good. I had a Teton mule and pizza with mozzerella, Park, tomato and bacon.

  2. Gotta pay for that new lift that was confirmed by Gerald who heard from Jimmy who has a friend of a friend of Barb's dentist who heard from a liftie at Blue who rides with Jim on ski patrol.

  4. So far did two gondolas, two thunders and two sublettes. It’s super empty here today. Been mostly groomers so far with big scrappy bumps on Bivoac. There have been titty sparkles. Wow

  5. Did some uphill this morning w my neighbor at the resort. She has to be home in time to get her kids ready for school so we had to leave at 5am. Weather forecast was 2 degrees but it was actually -16 She belongs to the country club so she has a locker there. Very convenient if you have kids. Was nice booting up inside. She usually gets to the top of the second lift (Paradise) but we only made it to the top of Red Lady when she had to turn around. We took 2 cars so I could continue but I was pretty tired so I turned around too. Will admit it was a bit scary skiing in the dark with nothing but a headlamp so I just took it slow. I will definitely be getting back out there on my own but plan on a 6:30 arrival so I am skiing down in daylight. I set my Garmin to skiing but it only tracked the downhill

  7. They can't get enough people to work the lifts, now they're going to get more to work as parking attendants?

  8. Paying for parking wouldn’t affect us that much since it would almost certainly be included for season pass holders. It might force us back away from the lodge further. It would also almost certainly cause major backups getting into the lower lot unless they did a major reconfigure to have a long on property loop before reaching the pay gate. It would be the first signal to me that the days of tailgating and drinking are over soon. But what point is there in getting worked up about it now?

  9. Forget parking lot improvements, forget new lifts, and forget new trails. What blue really needs is a retractable roof...no rain days and we can ski year round. Let the taxpayers cover it....if taxpayers can pay for retractable roofs for NFL stadiums that get used 10 times per year, they can certainly pay for a retractable roof at blue that will get used almost 365 days per year

  10. No other ski area around here charges for parking except Camelshat

  11. Hey All, I’m back in Jackson hole for my 18th trip here. I skied here in 2002 and then 2005-2020 every year and missed last year cause of Covid. The flight from Newark was smooth and NMSki arrived a bit before us from Dallas. We have a sweet Chevy Tahoe rental and for those that care, the bagel place still requires a mask but apparently most places don’t which is nice. Back at the 49er me and Atomic Jeff are in the standard rooms and NMSki parlayed his southwestern charm into a fireplace suite. Sunny and about 20 degrees in town. We are heading to the brewery in like 25 minutes I guess late lunch. JADIJH

  12. For anyone not in the know this song was first featured in the ground breaking documentary Booter Crunk. Of course remembered by all for asking the eternal question of how does one get Booter Crunk? It also sums up the feeling of skiing hike to Josef Stylish, Karl Marx, Rainbow Stalin whatever we are calling it. Perfect fluff all tucked in though all the way downtown is a bit firm. Rode this morning with Gary and Kurt, sixer only. They blew a skif across almost the entire mountain and while the snow is very nice if yesterday was 10/10 today is 9/10. Very good snow but some loose mixed in with harder patches. No bumps on main made it super wide and massive news they've groomed a bit of a ledge into the center section of switch. Personally I've always wanted to be able to mix a little air in there and make it harder to get on the right turn fast enough and it's perfect pop land insta carve right. Lazy now has rollers before the big turn. Now what everyone really wants parking gossip. Gary said that he was told by the blizzard ski guy who claims to be the former blue finance guy that it's 40$ a day up close 10$ in the back, no season pass. Then I heard from Diane ? The lady in the vail mask that it was an extra 150 on your season pass or 20$ a day any lot. This caused another lift rider I'll call lady who's always with the lady that might be Diane or Diane herself to proclaim that a lifty told her it was 10$ for front row only weekends only to pay for the new fantasy lift. FWIW I think we are all eating our own rumor and then regurgitating the slop as new news but if they do something my hope is just that it's not stupid and annoying. Like having to give the can zinchy guy an Andrew Jackson everyday to break my neck because I'm not wearing 12 point steel crampons to navigate the glacier that is the lower lot.

  13. The only issue with that is if 4 people are buying tickets, coming in the same car, all 4 people paid to park one car. big money maker, but thats not quite right either. i heard the guy that wears the full face helmet, was told by the tye-dye skier dude (#1 Blue Mt fan on FB), who heard Cecily Teinan was going to become a regular Blue Mt skier (since the lifts at JF are out of control these days) but then recanted that decision, because she was told by Gerald that the price of season passes were going to go up to pay for the new lift. Paid parking will go towards paving @RidgeRacer's parking spot. If that doesnt work out, i will start a go-fund me for it.

  18. Probably be an online system. Nice day today, like yesterday but with Mr Sun and Mrs Bluebird. Went up to TCS, got about halfway, took my skis off and hiked up before I had a stroke. I really don’t have any self respect anymore.

  21. In a vacuum, a couple extra dollars for a "season pass" parking ticket isn't the end of the world. Or having a premium parking lot isn't the end of the world. But my fear is with the new ownership that this will just be the beginning of them trying to nickel and dime us at every turn. Passes will be more expensive that's for sure. Will they offer early bird specials? Food will be more expensive, soft goods, lockers, rentals ect ect will all be more expensive. Then they expand the "premium parking" to the entire lot in 2 years. IDK, after watching Vail run JFBB into the ground I'm a bit pessimistic about the new ownership. @JFskiDan warned me 2(?) years ago when Peak was bought by Vail what would ultimately happen, and he was correct.

  22. Yes, you did say if. I'd prefer they use the "extra" money to cut a new trail or add more lift capacity or replace the manual guns, something more tangible to the skiing. I have a tray in the back of the car to keep the parking lot mud on the boots at bey in the car, so that doesn't bother me much.

  23. Like they aren't already gouging the public with their $100+ ticket prices?

  24. Agreed. Definitely some logistical issues. Especially with two lodge areas with parking instead of one. Still not concerned, we will adapt and drink/grill/whatever

  25. Super solid morning up at Shawnee. Arrived around 9. 12° and light breeze. Used my Indy pass for the first time. So easy. On the snow a little after 9:15. Took a run off of the HS quad to check out snow. Great snow. Got to the bottom and threw on my skins. Ended up doing 3 skin laps. Not many places around here allow it but SP was super chill about it and would wave on their way down and were chatting it up at the top. No designated trails so it’s players choice on the way up. One way to make 12° Feel warm is to earn your turns I was soaked with a long sleeve and a shell. Around 2000’ elevation gain and no lift lines on those laps 🤣 Ended the day with a few more runs off of the quad and called it. Really excited to get back here again!

  26. All I know is that if I can't fly down the mountain and turn into the lot faster than I should because there is a line of cars waiting to pay I am going to be mildly upset. But thanks for getting more parking dirt to add to our growing pile.

  27. This storm is going back and forth more than a normal storm. Yesterday morning it looked like a bust, then last night it looked like a 50% chance to be a massive storm, and this morning leaning back towards bust. It’s almost like I shouldn’t follow these storms this far in advance

  28. I would prefer if they made fixing the god damn lifts priority #1 with any kind of "extra" revenue. But yeah, the parking lot would be so far down my list, it might be on the second page. The lot doesnt bother me at all. Blue should perfect the art of taking as much cash out of spectators pockets as much as possible. Specifically at the tubing hill, which i hope they have started to do with that outside seating thing with the flame thrower table.

  31. Are you really comparing an eagles game to skiing at blue? There’s multiple viable forms of public transit to get to the stadiums. Lemme know when I can take a train from my house to blue, then I’ll pay to park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. We are between Shawnee and Montage for Sat. My biggest concern is potential wind holds with up to 40mph gusts forecast. I'm guessing this might be more of an issue at Shawnee - with a detachable lift and a west facing mountain. And Montage's North Face feels a little more sheltered and in a valley.

  38. The base Ikonic people have to pay a premium to ski at Aspen or Jackson unless you have the full 7 day pass. Trust me the ikon herb tourins from the Colorado front ranges of 2-3 years ago mainly were up here in JH because Colorado was dry and JH was robusto..and whoa mama some serious Colorado gapers.

  39. It seems like pay to park is becoming popular at ski joints everywhere. that being said, no reason to jump off the covered bridge just yet cause some guy on the lift told someone blue is gonna charge for parking. I do see some logistical issues with this though. (1) i dont know how they can do this with the traffic issues they already have. (2) pay to park to go to the ski shop? (3) pay to park to go to the fancy summit restaurant thingy?

  42. I'm a jelly roll, hike only TCS is dope and the way it should be weekday mornings. The snow looks so good and grey PA winter mornings are what I think of when I hear the word winter. I say refer to that line by a communist of your choice, be interesting with your stashes and name matters eg Hydrox vs Oreos
