Lovely cold and sunny morning at Blue. @mute1080 and @theprogram4in the line up with others. The snow was nice, grooming good, and minimal crowds. The snow on Main and Lazy was exquisite. Although, Main blew the same pipe that they did earlier this season so that was dug up. The quad stalled a few times but got back up and running just fine shortly before the 6er started cranking. Mussolini’s Magic Chute on TCS was fantastic this morning with a fine skiff of freshly blown snow. Best it’s been, super grippy chalky goodness, and Mute enjoyed as well. DubNug in the parking lot to finish off the morning. Happy Thursday!13 points

Grate morning. I was not expecting the pit of despair turning onto Main and had to laugh. Snow was nice and it was a warm single digit temperature.5 points

Always characters out here. The Casper lift is closed this week due to electrical issues. I feel like it’s making the line for the Teton chair longer. I was just on Thunder lift and about a 2 minute wait in singles line. Only had to get in line 21 minutes before opening ding ding to get first gondoobie.3 points

I was late. I was so unbelievably, inexcusably freaking late! First slowdowns on the parkway (Where are all these people going to, isn't it still pandemic?), then stuck behind a movers truck on a one-lane road (Really? Moving? Have you seen the house prices lately??). GPS was showing that I was being 2 minutes late, then 4, then 6, ahhh! I'm gonna have to park in the last row, take all the stairs, miss the rope drop and wait in a terrible, impossibly long line just to do a few runs and then it will already be time to drive back. I remembered how the snow report threatened not to open two lifts citing that "the attendants needed a well deserved rest". I keep hitting the steering wheel cursing at the truck driver and wishing him all the worst. Eventually I'm at the base of the mountain, thermometer is reading 1F and I'm thinking to myself if I'm gonna see negative numbers on the way up, but nope! I'm going up, and the numbers are going up... Inversion! Everybody knows that inversion is bad. It sucks. It calls for a lousy day of skiing, no new snow, perhaps even fog?? All wound up I'm finally in the parking lot, late, so late... A day totally gone wrong. Money down the drain. At least a barrel of gas same way. But... There is nobody there! A few cars at most, I don't see any people... Whoah... Is the mountain closed? Are all people standing in line somewhere down there already?! IDK... Two snow canons are saluting me when I step from the parking lot on the snow. I get into the lodge, yeah, there are some people there, but they're all relaxed, changing, no rushing, I breathe in, out and... reboot. It's as unbelievably good as I remember it. Every time I get to this place it's like I have to forget how I usually ski and rediscover this parallel universe where skiing does not feel rushed, and yet you manage to do uncountable number of laps before it suddenly hits you... it's 4pm already! The snow was perfect, pristinely groomed carpets in the morning, changing into chalky slopes in the afternoon. From green to black, it's all the same, smooth, no ice, no cookies, no marbles. Sun all day long, so welcome in the morning due to the low temps and definitely insufficient closer to 4pm when most of the slopes drown in shadow. Very few people, I never had to wait in line and never had to share a quad with anybody. Hell, I even rode gondola all by myself a few times. Chill, so chill. Anybody wants a piece of paradise? It's still there, and not too far. Just don't get behind a movers truck when you race to the finish line.2 points

I'm hedgeing my bets on a slopeside D Gen...sorta like the ski through Micky D's that they have in Switzerland. Ski up, pick up some paper towels, Toilet paper etc. Then ski off.2 points

Oh, wow, it's one of those storms that rush all of NJ/NYC to ski only to find there is nothing there.1 point

Some major marbles at the bottom of Main Street, but they softened up around noon. Top and middle were always great. My last run down, there was absolutely no one on the slope from top to bottom. Switchback was my run of the day, though.1 point

As long as your pecker wasn’t out it’s ok. We were wondering when BenM would come to Jackson hole. He could room with Matt Edge.1 point

For anyone not in the know this song was first featured in the ground breaking documentary Booter Crunk. Of course remembered by all for asking the eternal question of how does one get Booter Crunk? It also sums up the feeling of skiing hike to Josef Stylish, Karl Marx, Rainbow Stalin whatever we are calling it. Perfect fluff all tucked in though all the way downtown is a bit firm. Rode this morning with Gary and Kurt, sixer only. They blew a skif across almost the entire mountain and while the snow is very nice if yesterday was 10/10 today is 9/10. Very good snow but some loose mixed in with harder patches. No bumps on main made it super wide and massive news they've groomed a bit of a ledge into the center section of switch. Personally I've always wanted to be able to mix a little air in there and make it harder to get on the right turn fast enough and it's perfect pop land insta carve right. Lazy now has rollers before the big turn. Now what everyone really wants parking gossip. Gary said that he was told by the blizzard ski guy who claims to be the former blue finance guy that it's 40$ a day up close 10$ in the back, no season pass. Then I heard from Diane ? The lady in the vail mask that it was an extra 150 on your season pass or 20$ a day any lot. This caused another lift rider I'll call lady who's always with the lady that might be Diane or Diane herself to proclaim that a lifty told her it was 10$ for front row only weekends only to pay for the new fantasy lift. FWIW I think we are all eating our own rumor and then regurgitating the slop as new news but if they do something my hope is just that it's not stupid and annoying. Like having to give the can zinchy guy an Andrew Jackson everyday to break my neck because I'm not wearing 12 point steel crampons to navigate the glacier that is the lower lot.1 point

Well Blue Knob is open full vert to the bottom, they have glades open now, and are blowing Deer Run which based on last year's pattern would seem to be about the last intermediate they might blow before starting Stembogan. Then maybe Jack Rabbit, then fill in the bowl, then with any luck they can help out Extrovert a bit before the spring meltdown... maybe this weekend's snow will help them out a bit. They are so gosh dang slow I want to go spend my $$$ there on food, cross country, merch, the works but can't justify the drive until they get a black or two open. Well at least I should be able to get there President's weekend when everything else is blacked out and packed crowded.1 point

Shawnee's lifts are for the most part low-angle and sheltered well below the tree line, and the whole mountain is situated in a hollow with a northwest aspect out of which it doesn't really rise much higher than the previous ridge to the west. Thanks for the heads up, I may have to pull and audible and hit Montage too if the detach isn't running. I think they have the capacity to handle any crowds that may show up even without the Tomahawk but their other lifts the run SLOW to suit their clientele.1 point

Probably be an online system. Nice day today, like yesterday but with Mr Sun and Mrs Bluebird. Went up to TCS, got about halfway, took my skis off and hiked up before I had a stroke. I really don’t have any self respect anymore.1 point

Shawnee has plenty of fixed grip top to bottom lifts, but you are probably correct about Montage being more protected. Seems like you have you answer..1 point

A cold and frosty skifari hitting gore, pico and magic with Mrs SnoBumski, Gore was awesome, the steeps that we ski’ d were a lil scratchy but bumps on chattie and anything’ the groomer hit were money, slow grippy snow could just let ‘em run’. too old for pics other than a fab selfie. Not quite B2B but close, cheers to MrsSnoBunSki consiDering the temps.1 point

oops I forgot I started this, here's the proper trip report: Prior to COVID Mrs SnoBunski and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary and some friends got us a gift certificate for a stay at Lincoln Inn B&B in Woodstock VT. This year we were finally able to use it and make do a little skfari, with a plan to ski Gore (NYS Frequent skier card), Pico (3 pack early discount card) and Magic (No Boundaries discount tix) Made it as far as Lake George Thursday evening for dinner at Adirondack Brewing, Friday morning set off for Gore at -9*. FSC’s scanned without a hitch, no lift lines and great snow. Did a basic Tour de Gore hitting all the pods. Everything groomed was smooth and grippy, bump line on Chattie was great and worth lapping a few times before lunch at Tannery. After the cookies at the top of Echo it was a screamer the rest of the way. Hullaballo was a bit scratchy in flat light so we assumed open Lies would be the same and skipped it. Tahawus was the run of the afternoon with great effort / reward ROI, you could just let ‘em run with some big GS turns. Bright sun and lack of wind kept the temps comfortable throughout the day but too cold for pics other than an obligatory fb selfie. Not quit B2B but very impressed Mrs S stayed out as long as she did. Abom gogs kept my usual hot head fogging issues at bay. Headed out for Woodstock with a dinner stop for good pizza and beer at Rutland Beer/Hop’n Moose. Settled into Lincoln Inn just in time for a VT Sapling Maple Bourbon nightcap. After an awesome breakfast we set out about 8:45, temps hovering -13 to -15*. Again no sun or wind so felt comfy when we pulled into Pico a half hour later. Everyone was booting up at their cars so we assumed that there was limited lodge ops. Probably not the best idea as Mrs S had foot/boot issues through out the day, and cut it a bit short after a bunch of groomers off the summit and a foray into the guns and wales. Not a lot of lifts running but no lines. Lapped Summit Glades for most of the day. Wings and beers at Long Trail and an early night. Magic on the way home, temps in the teens and low 20’s felt downright balmy. Red chair was running smooooth. Nice end to a mellow trip. Stuck mostly to the east side, lots groomer zoomers and fun bumps. Steeper stuff was ski’d off to slick troughs and/or dirt and rocks. Lift lines were 5-10 minutes, I just love the pace and vibe there. oh yea, and a pic of my avocado BLT with a bite taken out for @GrilledSteezeSandwich1 point
