  1. Remember that photog we saw on sidewinder? Here are some photos from Sunday I found of PASRs. @Johnny Law @mute1080

  2. Skied 10-1230 and only the Mountain Triple is open. Every type of snow was skied. Lines got stupid so we’re at Piecasso for lunch. I messed up and order the calamari before reading farther that they have a Epic charcuterie board. I have a reason to come back now.

  3. Just wrapped up a quick rip tonight and since there were no other TRs posted today it’s coming late. Got here at 5:45 and lower lot was filled. I almost had to park in additional parking in back. First lift ride up had a about 5 minute wait but thankfully everything after that I skied right on. Conditions were consistent for the most part on all trails and were a mix of soft sugar piles and firm glistening hardback. Switch felt and sounded like I was running a luge track. I’m thinking conditions might be pretty good tomorrow morning. My theory being that the quick drop in temp and wind pulling moisture out of the snow has resulted in dry snow. Grooming that dry snow may set up tonight to make fast, firm, and grippy conditions tomorrow morning. I can also confirm some automated fan guns turned on around 6:30 and as I was leaving it looked like guns were on in the chute/midway area. WTGAI Blue!

  8. Yeah the people that went yesterday said lift access was limited, only the double running. Hopefully it’s not too bad because I want to get Boo on her first gondy.

  11. Hey! I skied this AM. I pulled into Jeff's spot, next to Steeze's car and hit the quad starting at 9:30am. Skied for 2 hours then had an 11:30am call which I took from the lot. Solid morning. Challenge and Razors was awesome. Coming Soon was fun but I loathe the barrier. Main Street was great but only did it once because I was low on time. Sidewinder had some brown spots on it. Will definitely be waxing my skis tomorrow night to make it speedier. Interesting afternoon though. After skiing, I stopped at the Apple store in Ardmore to get my airpods fixed. As I walked in, I saw a red head dude and felt like I knew him from somewhere.... This was my face when... I learned it was Rupert Grint (aka, Ron Weasley). I think he's in Philly for a new movie with M. Night Shyamalan. The last "celebrity" I saw in Philly was (a) Gritty and (b) The Scrub Daddy who was on shark tank. 😂

  12. @Schif @theprogram4 @PSUFly we need to have an intervention with our good friend and brother @Mixilplix. He’s a great guy and as core as they come but he’s losing his way to those devil 2 plankers. This is nothing but a moment in time and if we band together we can get our brother back on the straight and narrow. lol.

  15. https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-alpine-ski-racings-500-000-per-kid-problem-11645181642?mod=hp_listc_pos3 Interesting article about the state of ski racing in the US. "The total cost for a junior ski racing career can top $500,000, according to a 2019 survey by U.S. Ski & Snowboard of ski clubs, academies and colleges. That total includes everything from ski camps and academy tuition to more-specialized equipment and racing fees." "Ski racing has never been cheap. But it was long accessible to people with more modest means and those who lived in or near mountain towns, said Steve Porino, an American former racer working as an NBC Olympics commentator. Now, racing in the U.S. is for one-percenters, he said."

  17. "Convenience store" is just a code word for Dollar General. You know a D Gen is coming to covered bridge road. You'll be able to see the yellow logo from the Blue mountain peak.

  25. A girl doesn’t usually get excited about 4”, but since we haven’t had snow here in over 30 days it was very nice! The usual non existent crowds here on a weekday, got in line for the Silver Queen at 8:47 and was 3rd chair. They groomed Paradise Bowl, which I was surprised. No matter, the few fresh inches were a welcome change from the usual hard pack conditions. Few runs off Paradise then headed to East River. Good conditions down there too. Forgot to post this gem from the other day More snow on the way next week!

  26. Jackson Frost is long gone...without happy land, elevator, marks way, risk it, elevator trees, mad trees etc. It's just Jack Frost and nothing worth passing up Blue for.

  27. Sno Trail Map See #26 on the linked map. The problem with half pipes in the east is that the thaw freeze cycles kill the rims and they usually just turn into ice chutes.

  28. Blue used to have a Zaugg pipe cutter but they barely used it.

  29. Yeah, i get it, Vail sold alot of passes. But why werent the masses flocking there when Peak had a pass for $500 with 4 free buddy passes? And i get it, ski a couple places in PA, and Hunter really isnt that far, but, lets face it, JFBB isnt the pinnacle of PA skiing. It just doesnt make that much sense to me, that these people are like, "well, i have the pass, so i might as well go ski some really short runs at JF?"

  30. I rode that pipe a few times, got to the top of the wall once and I was good. Really puts into perspective how insane the Olympic riders really are. Sno Mountain should be a case study for how investing way too much into parks (and randomly cutting down a thousand trees) is not a great business move. I really think that the super pipe was the nail in the coffin for them.

  31. Diner said it open at 6 so we went at 7 and it was closed. Snowden dropped a pot of coffee at the door step via text which was nice. Magic is fantastic. On the hill at 9:05 with thin hero snow. Half groomed and found myself looking for ungroomed. Ton a fun picking through and skiing in grass. BLT add chicken and avocado with a Fiddlehead for lunch. No lines and empty bar. West side just opened so couple more laps in the rain then headed north.

  32. NMDW is my fav trail, so its unlikely i would bitch much about losing any other trail. I was never like, yippee we get sidewinder back. Not sure why, i mean NMDW and side both have turns, which i like trails that turn, but, and this is probably another happy accident on Blues part, but NMDW just flows so well under speed. I would trade coming soon for NMDW. yes, coming soon is cool, the trench is badass, natural bumps are where its at, but ehh, i dont know.......maybe the new trail smell is starting to wear off. if vail is nothing else, they are very safety conscious. or, terribly afraid of being sued, take your pic. Taking the sign for risk it down sort of fits in with what they have been doing with renaming trails and whatnot, and i mean, if you are going to have a trail sign, its sort of inviting people to ski it, and risk it was very seldom skiable, and for what it was, a little dangerous. It doesnt sound like the glades and off trail stuff at Frost are what they were years ago. I would have to assume Marks Way has been taken down too.

  33. Toast and I were talking about this on the lift last night. Problem is they take sooooooooooo much snow.

  34. I’d rather keep Sidewinder as a ski trail than get Nightweaver back. I love both options, but they need a full size park and would rather they take Nightweaver

  37. I love how the indy pass has PASRs visiting new and exciting places, and writing TRs about them so others can read about said new and exciting places. The indy is out there fighting the good fight. Love that.
