More value just keeps getting added to the pass every minute. Shit I'll buy two every year if it would keep your negative ass away.14 points

Came here for this discussion and looks like I was right! Pulled the trigger today, 0 hesitation. $649 is definitely a lot to ski blue for the season, but honestly I'm kinda stoked to not see a 7 in there. After 11 days this year at BC...I'm about over it, don't think I'll renew. Reality is, I love the park, but If I'm not there at 1pm on a weekday...I'm miserable, and those opportunities aren't always there. Pumped to actually ski runs too. Now, the race is on to cram as many days in before closing to stretch that value. Of course they had to open the sales up on a rainy day with an early closing 🙄 See you all at Blue! Happy to be home.7 points

so, 16 degrees and the snow was really heavy for whatever reason, maybe it was windblown. kind of snow where people were pretty much eating shit pretty regularly. Anyways a pretty damn nice day today all the way around. it was definitely some work to float this heavy stuff, but got actually easier to ski once it was cut up a bit. First runs for Barb and I were off Paradise bowl, and thats where i quickly found out how heavy the snow was, i skied off the groomer track and it kinda sucked me in, threw me around some, ending up skiing switch a little before i gathered things back up and got things going in the right direction again. played in some trees, but the overnight snow isnt doing tons to fill in the steeper areas which are pretty trenched out, and scrapey underneath from basically 30 days with no snow. The bumps on the trails were really better than most stuff in the trees. Barb and i split up for a few runs before meeting back up for lunch. Found some better trees around International, had no idea where i was actually going, got kinda lost, and ended up at the Umbrella bar. Managed to make it back to Paradise to meet Barb for lunch a little late. Ate lunch, Barb headed back to her place, and i was just gonna cruise a couple more trails. They had sent a couple couple bombs off earlier as they were working on the high stuff, both Tbars had delayed openings. The Tbars opened after lunch, even though i saw people standing in line before lunch. i rode the Paradise lift with an instructor who said the stuff off the high lift was kinda blown off, exposed rocks, but the stuff off the North lift was better, but still not great. i wasnt up for the line up at the Tbars, and since im solo, legs were telling me go home, so i passed on that today. Snow is supposed to continue until thursday sometime. It didnt snow too hard during the day, but looking out the window now, things have really picked up some, and its after 4 pm here, so things should get a nice refill, and we will be at it again tomorrow. pics in a few.6 points

On Sunday, I'm flying from PHL to Vancouver for a skication with my brother (who I learned is lurker on here 🖐️). I've skied a bunch of resorts out west but Whistler has been on my must hit list for some time now. I decided to go with an Epic Pass this season solely to explore Whistler. I kind of thought with the hoops, testing requirements, etc - it would limit some American tourists from going to Whistler this year. Hoping by going to Canada and skiing midweek, the crowds will be mild and the snow will be good. 🤞 This is my rough agenda. Day 1 Sunday Feb 27 ✈️Arrive in Vancouver + shuttle to Whistler. Day 2 Monday, Feb 28 Ski at Whistler Day 3 Tuesday, March 1 Ski at Whistler Day 4 Wednesday, March 2 Ski at Whistler Day 5 Thursday, March 3 Ski at Whistler. 4pm shuttle to Vancouver. Explore the city. Day 6 Friday, March 4 Explore the city. Day 7 Saturday, March 5 ✈️Depart, early 7am flight While in Whistler, I'm staying near the Whistler Village Center (near the Blackcomb Mountain Gondola). While in Vancouver, I'm likely staying at or near the Hyatt Regency (still deciding on the exact hotel). So PASR - is there anything I should specifically do or see? Any must go-to restaurants or bars?5 points

That makes the pass a steal and I may be in the minority but just do the math on desired profits and divide. I don't want complicated or 9382929 things to think about when I'm going skiing. It's the escape from all that shit. If I owned blue I would make Camelback pass holders pay more5 points

649 credit card airline miles...woot! I'm good with it. I like the $50 deal. Usually get a stone grind or whatnot end of season, beginning of next so that covers that. I really thought the sack would be included. The fact that it's 25% off only and not free will basically ensure that I won't go there which is a ok with me.5 points

Just clicked the purchase button a few minutes ago.....I'm OK with this pricing.....Can't wait to see the Summit Safari lift to the top get installed.. The Camelback discount is just fluff....The only redeeming thing Camelback has going for it is they allow uphill travel...4 points

Yeah, I gotta get my boys on a pass where they can ski before 4 on the weekends. I never wanna motivate enough to come back up after 4. Too bad the gift card’s not instant (assuming) to roll them. I’ve never been happier that my wife won’t ski. 😂😂🤑4 points

Its fucking crazy that prices jumped $200 in the last two years, but this $650 price is more market value or whatever the fuck business term is used. If prices stayed low, or where they were two years ago then we would be dealing with the Epic pass lift line bullshit like all of those resorts and bitching nonstop. With this, we just bitch now about the price and then the rest of this season and next is all butterflies and rainbows until the next early season pass price.4 points

long way from 2006 prices, but hey it's still easy to break even with where lift tickets are at now. kinda weird that comparing things to 2006 now is like 1990 back then. actually seems normal if you look at it that way.3 points

Any word on parking ? I don't care about Camelback, honestly it makes the pass less attractive 🤣🤣🤣3 points

That’s not bad. It’s what it should be cause everybody is gonna pay that. You know what happens when a business undercharges...yes they leave money on the table.3 points

The absolute last thing blue needs is more people. Anyone who is there gets this and most importantly the people that run blue know this too. Value at level 1 is numbers, how many resorts, how many high speed lifts, how many runs, etc etc etc Value level 2 is experience management, and adding blue to ikon or epiq is all the lower category. Where blue is at now is trying to extract more money out of each customer not getting more people in the door. The infrastructure cannot support more people at peak times, from the roads to blue to the soda machines to the lifts, at peak they are max capacity. To make a significant change in when people skied required a global pandemic so good luck with that. Epiq resorts this year are all category one thinking, by the numbers having an epiq pass should be the best but it's actually probably the worst of the big three because that isn't actual value. So why does all my horseshit I just wrote matter ? Because pass and lift ticket pricing is a primary factor in business model. When we all went the mega pass route we signed up for snowsports being run like a business and the two current models of our Corp overlords only one does the value of the pass hit that second category or more simply rewards investment in actual good skiing. Ikon is not ideal nor KSL but at least they have to keep value in skiing and snowboarding at the actual hill even if its only to sell real estate and weddings. Again it's not ideal but right now VR has zero reason to put real money into JFBB or Steven's Pass or wherever because it doesn't really effect them as directly. There was a new lambo SUV in the lot last weekend from NY, there is money around and it's not driving past all those other places because the pass gets them time at Jimminy Peak. Look at Bears lodge for God sakes, at least 8 years ago the hotel and lodge pays for everything but the only reason you can get them to bum fuck Macungie is because of the hill. Blue needs to focus on that end, keep the skiing quality high and always improving as they have done of late, build out the shit where you make real actual serious money and build their brand as being different from Camelback not aligned with it.2 points

I was done alimony by then actually. I went 15 times, which was more than I ever skied a single place and a fair amount given it is a 1:40 drive for me. Definitely got my money's worth. I prefer changing it up rather than skiing the same place all the time, which is why I lean towards.multi-mt passes. Contemplating doing a Montage pass with the IndyPass add on for next year if the price is right. Give me one of my fav PA places unlimited, and a lot of other options.2 points

@Justo8484 is right about Peak to Creek. Do it once to ski the full vert of that place in one run and the insane leg burn. But never go back down there because it usually turns into an icy scraped off people funnel. Also, Peak-to-Peak gondola is worth the experience. Stunning views the whole way and the glass bottom is super cool.2 points

Fly into Seattle and you can do Baker/Bachelor in the same trip. PNW is all weather dependent, baker is like the Jay of the pnw. Middle of nowhere on a road that only goes there so some of that total is rain at say mission or hoodoo. They kinda get that Tahoe schedule of huge dumps with shit weather in-between. Snoqualmie is generally the biggest and most crowded resort in the area. Bend is a super awesome skiing town and has mad cheap hotels. A good place to make a base from and explore. Generally both are cheap to fly to direct from the EC. If you don't have alot of people you can rent a taco in lots of places and SeaTac must have a ton as its generally lower than a compact. Don't sleep on Alpental, it's sort of the Alta of the PNW. The main thing is to think about the PNW like Tahoe of VT, its all about timing. It can be the best and the worst all in the same day. It can snow 100" or rain for a week. Utah you can book 4 months in advance and you'll be fine if not good odds for the goods. PNW you'd be taking alot more risk. All of those areas have exploded in population so the hills were busy pre covid but post alot are having problems. Snoqualmie in particular I have been told was crazy busy so far. Lastly most don't think of it but the monashees and coast mtns are only hours away. Bring your passport and if its raining you bug out to the pow zones of interior BC. Red is like 6hrs from Seattle and generally they are some of the snowiest places on earth.2 points
