Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 8:35 and it was 28 degrees under cloudy sky’s. In the house were TP4 and Bethlehem Ford Guy. First civilian quad. First run on challenge was not bad, a little soft, sugar/corn. Main street was ROTD. Similar to challenge but a lot smoother. Switchback was good, did a lower widowmaker to chute and sidewinder. Sidewinder was ok, but firmer than the rest. Liftlines were not a problem, longest wait was maybe 5 min. Razors edge was closed. Same conditions for every run really, thought it was going to be pretty bad but it wasn’t at all. Coverage is still ok. Meant to write this post when I got back but had a call at 11 and I’m just getting to it now. Going to make some ramen, continue working, then maybe have some beers and clean up outside. Hoping to ski tomorrow but not sure. Rob winkle might in the house and you know what he says, ice ice baby. JADIP edit - sorry, i didn't notice @toast21602 post can this be moved8 points

I find it fascinating that you can call blues lift lines a weak spot while praising epic in the same god damn post. Amazing.6 points

Dan out on the mountain and I wanted to snowshoe today to rest my weary legs. Headed out to Washington gulch where you snowshoe the road and after a mile or so can cut into trees. Thought that area would be safe. Avy danger marked a 4 (high) today and watching some CB avalanche center videos stuff is real reactive and unstable. Anyway, got the the TH and was the only person there and no tracks, skis or snowshoes, had been laid yet. Started out and looking at slopes to my right that normally I don’t pay attention to, looked ominous. If they slid, would probably knock me off road down other side which goes into the river. I did have my beacon on (always wear it) but was totally alone and just thought, nope, not today. Someone going to have a hard time digging out their snowmobile. So guess I am just taking a rest day. Getting a head start on making beef stew for Dan’s dinner5 points

Yeah I've definitely skied much worse. It's not the heaviest worst kind of sugar that's like straight up quicksand. Overall I give it a 5.6 on the Dom scale3 points

I don't believe so? I didn't notice anything. Tonight will be too marginal and/or humid. Hopefully after this system rolls through and temps drop in the upcoming days.3 points

snow was fun last night. Temps dropped almost 20d over the almost 2 hours...snow was starting to stiffen up at the end making a choppy ride Aliens left liquid cosmic dust in my truck!3 points

Almost that exciting time of year when those of us who don't live in the Allentown area get to compare ski pass products and make our selections for 2022/23 Blue kicked things off by taking a baby step into the multi-mountain arena with a 25% discount at Camelback, while charging $649 for what is still basically a single mountain pass. They can do that - and could even raise it more if they wished - cause the local crowd has no comparable option anywhere near as close. Hopefully this price increase will cut down on the lift lines that have been Blue's one real weak spot, as they do have a better combo of lifts, terrain, snowmaking and vertical than anywhere else south of New York. Still that's more than I have paid the past 3 years for a 40+ Mtn Epic Local pass.3 points

Arrived around 5:30ish then had to retrieve my skis out of the shop. First two runs for me tonight were on TCS and got into skiers left ditch. Some soft snow mixed with some harder spots. No surprise that there are getting to be some serious brown spots in there. Even with the all the brown town, those two runs were for sure a 10/10 on the fun scale. After TCS runs I ran into the dude and rode with him. Had a few good runs on Barney’s with nice soft bumps followed by a fun single bump line down skiers right lower main. Also of note was one particularly fun run down raceway midway lower main with absolutely empty trails and hero snow the whole way. Challenge, switch, and side were also all excellent. Came out to an awesome gift from the beer fairy to top off probably night of the year for me. Cracked it open hung for a few with @mbike-ski then skidaddled.3 points

Depends, there exists a level of baller local so core that they can put their skis in place and nobody even dreams of moving them. One I know of lives 300ft from the lift and everyone knows who they are and who's skis they are. In the morning he skis down at 720 drops the skis and goes for breakfast, if I had not seen it I wouldn't have believed it. Otherwise no you have to be there.2 points

Close to the finger lakes, good wine and beer, Ithaca is a cool city. The adventure center has zip lines and mountain coaster. Finger lakes trail traverses the back side of the mountain. They also have mountain biking. We've done a bunch of fall trips. HOA fees are $430, you get rental receipts less fees if its rented when you're not there, last month we got a a check for $380 entire unit2 points

You made it out that's always better than more time in front of a screen working. Was it a solid re freeze ? It got to 33 here so I was hoping it wasn't full brick.2 points

what a day. Started off by getting a ride to the mountain from Barbs neighbor in her suburban. Reminiscent of 7 dudes and gear for the ride to Jackson, since this time i had to sit in a childs car seat. It was snowing pretty good on the ride up, it let up just a little for opening but vis was really pretty low. Snow was lighter today, and did feel like there was more than the 5-6" that was on the snow stake. i did find where the snowstake is located, and its pretty low on the mountain, so that makes sense. i ran Paradise lift for some powder turns, then in and out of some trees, big powdery bumps, really beat myself up pretty good by 10:30 when i met Barb at East River, so taking a little leg break over by the umbrella bar was welcoming. after a few runs, we took lunch at the umbrella bar, since all of a sudden the sun came out. so things went from this, to this by lunch. That was pretty short lived, as we were sitting at the umbrella bar, the wind picked up, and in the distance you could see clouds rolling in, and when we were finished lunch, it went back to this. After lunch i ran some laps off the Silver Queen, vis on the trails was poor, trees were good, but my legs started telling me it was time to go. Once i got back to Barbs, it started just dumping when we took a walk up the street into town. some other random pics from today. Forecast is 8-16" overnight.2 points

Thanks appreciate the offer - hopefully I can contribute a couple decent beers to the mix. You set a high bar with that one.1 point

Just saw it fly over as I was taking my boots off but I wasn't sure where it left from. Upper lodge area I guess? Yeah they're not serving treehouse at blue unfortunately. If you stop by the lot one weekend there's usually a variety of great beer1 point

Naaah. Gotta be there in person. If your standing off to the side talking or whatever that’s cool. But you can’t drop your skis and go inside or far away.1 point

I say BS...only exception is if nature calls but at Jackson hole I’ve seen people leave the line for 30-45 minutes to go inside and hangout and get a breakfast burrito and what not...nope. Indiggio I almost got my ass kicked by DJango from TGR back in 2009 when I got in the singles line in front of his gear. Now we’re buddies because he doesn’t remember.1 point

Nice night for sure, hit Barneys a bunch and TCS had some nice orphan bump clusters that were fun. The ditch wasn’t too bad as well. A little faster than I would have expected but maybe do to the wind? Up top things are starting to get solid. Second last run lifty put the sled hook on the chair in front of me up top. When I got back on the base lifty took it off the chair behind me. Nice they have a clock up top in the lifty shed I was averaging 10 minute runs on TCS side.1 point

Nice well you have plenty of time to analyze the risk and rewards to hitting up Magic...I’ll be slumming it here in PA..but I’ve been looking at flights to Colorado Falalalala...I was thinking of flying Frontier to save $100 but I have a job.1 point
