  1. Hey All, I’m back from a fun AM session at Blue mountain the true mountain. Everybody was in the house except for Justin, Zonked, JFDan, Johnny Law, MBike mike, Toast, Indiggio, slim, Matt Edge, TP4, Schif, NMSki and Salty. The temperatures were in the mid 20s under mostly sunny sky’s. The first two runs I skied challenge which was nice dry cord..remarkable good considering the past few days weather. Main Street and Switchback were remarkably good and I even skied a few runs on Nightmare to Dream Weaver. The runs were pretty crowded but liftlines weren’t bad. I had a few beers and rice rice crispy treats in the lower lot and hungout until about noon. Now I’m back at work like a dork for a bit. I’ll be back tomorrow AM...should be similar, maybe even better. JADIP.

  3. Late start arrive 10:45 they got about 8” of fresh but had some FR on top I heard it was heavy yesterday. Today’s cooler temperatures made it perfect. Some nice bumps on Plunge I stayed on the double chair till after 2. I skied Blockbuster quite a few runs . They left a 7’ high whale up top witch I had to appease the little kid in me and go over the top . I lost some Ptex on Twist . It was thin in places but overall a pretty nice day. First picture, trail to the right of the lift is “Freefall” roped off but poachers carved it up.

  4. Today was much better than expected...in fact challenge first run was Dion Sanders...prime time. That wasn't the best part of that run however...the individual parallel slalom race between @AtomicSkier and a tucker.stole the show. Blue held up through the shit ice storm just fine!

  7. In the first run I knew I had to turn off my usual wtf meter. I was a guest in a foreign land, they were kind and although their customs seemed strange to me they couldn't be less threatening, the delta was so high at half speed it was nothing but orange cones everywhere. Most are well aware of my love of weird old equipment and it's like no place I've seen. The individual foot snowboards, lots of blades, 220 straight skis but the kicker was this dude. I spotted the zero tail fast, assumed logically he had broken them somehow. Yet his suit was HH and was skiing on a icon pass with his dad who had one of the big super soft soli pow skis for gapers. This was no accident, for some reason this was done on purpose. Was he a raxer from the Alps who got lost ? I maneuvered my way to be the single next to them so I would have time to conduct a thorough investigation. I buttered him up with bs about the day and then went for the kill. This madman bought the skis, picked out bindings and had them mounted then promptly took them home and cut as much tail as humanly possible off with a band saw. He was of the opinion that the tail of the ski was a detriment to skiing and had been doing so since learning as a child. He had been all over with his family, somehow taming big sky/ut/VT on 90cm length skis all up front. I only saw him ski 300ft at like negative pitch but he left a ww1 style trench giving a new definition to tail gunning. It was one of the most and least impressive thing I've seen in snowsports. It's like someone cutting both their legs off to become a better marathon runner.

  9. Interesting, the basin side is like 800/900 vert but only one or two moderately steep spots of like 300ft. It's filled to the gills with noobs, like salty would be a golden God. The village is impressive considering its location, driving here is classic WV, nothing but trees and rocks. It looks more like great wolf lodge than a ski lodge but the restaurants are good and everyone is like in the south nice. There is an expert pod that is actually across the street from basin called western territory that is like skiing another mountain. You start at the top, there is a road across the entire Ridge with basin on one side and this 3 trail expert pod is on the other. You ride a lift up ski 50ft across the top take you skis off cross the street and then put them back on and ski down the hill. Two trails there have some nice steep maybe like 200ft more vert than blue but not as sustained pitch. It's kind of a weird place and at first the noob thing is annoying they stop the lifts alot and some of the cross overs are absolutely littered with people down. The upside is they are super friendly and all super stoked about everything. If I was in the area for something I would come back it's a slightly bigger blue but it has some charm in its weirdness. Lots of custom stuff on the hill like these pro models.

  12. I don't know if the snow flurries helped at all but the blacks are not icy at all. White lightning is primo 👌 Unfortunately no bumps anywhere I guess they had to groom away all the ice from this week. Not crowded at all & long haul just opened

  14. Good news is Barbs knee is feeling better, but unfortunately not able to make it out today. Went out with Barbs friend Ilise, and despite the fact she snowboards, she pretty much kicks butt. So yesterday the East River lift was closed, and with a little bit of snow that fell the night before, we heading right there, since that was going to have the best snow. When we got down there, the lift was stopped. we were there long enough to click out, as the lift was doing a start/stop kinda thing for a while before it did get going at slow speed. good news, cause theres no way out of there without hiking up a ways to the Paradise lift. It stopped once or twice on the ride up, after we passed a guy up on one of the towers, so we bailed on staying in that area for fear of getting stuck down there. Skied a little bit of trees, but at this point my legs arent going to put up with much more of that. Stuck to some groomers after that. got pretty crowded, it is after all, a weekend. Stopped at Uley's Cabin, as they were celebrating Uleys birthday, who is supposed to be 107 years old. Had a bowl of Elk Chili and a beer, which got us some tickets for the raffle of a snowboard. I didnt win, and i wasnt too disappointed, i mean, who needs one of those things anyways? Nice pit stop with some good views. The Spice Girls showed up. There were four of them in total. Random tree pics.

  25. i had some help from Barb, she had me ditch one upper layer before we started, and i was fine for the trip. As you know, zero degrees here and zero at home are 2 different things, so i constantly second guess myself out here anyways.

  27. I'm new here but may as well contribute. Arrived with my daughter and her boyfriend at 9am almost on the dot. This was their first time at Camelback but not mine. Waited about 20minutes while my daughters boyfriend picked up his rentals and then headed directly to Sullivan. There was a small line but we were able to grab a chair about 5 minutes after getting on line. As we were riding the chair up we heard it. The sound of ski's and boards digging into really icy hardpack. Once we got up to we decided to take it slow and start on Birches. The conditions were quite icy on Birches and Meadows. At some points it was like snowboarding on an ice cube. I guess this is to be expected, since it had just finished raining a few hours before and the temp rapidly dropped. Conditions were mostly the same throughout the day, though things seemed to soften up a bit after 12pm. We started noticing real crowds at about 11 and by 1pm the lines were longish but mostly moving fast. However, the line at Stevenson was especially discombobulated. It got better once they started having a ranger direct the line and loading. By 2:30 we had hit 12 different runs and decided to call it a day. Especially the boyfriend who was using rental gear that was killing his feet. Overall, not a bad day but not a great one either, just sort of meh conditions but a bunch of fun runs were had.

  28. @Justo8484 is right about Peak to Creek. Do it once to ski the full vert of that place in one run and the insane leg burn. But never go back down there because it usually turns into an icy scraped off people funnel. Also, Peak-to-Peak gondola is worth the experience. Stunning views the whole way and the glass bottom is super cool.

  29. Skied Sugarloaf Monday 2/14 through Thursday 2/17. First 2 days were crazy cold, minus 11 in the morning, so no one rushed out for first chair. It did keep the snow nice. Day 3 very windy, managed to get one run down before they shut down due to wind holds. So we proceeded to The Bag for drinks. Day 4 was warm and threatening rain. We were lucky, had first run in a spotty drizzle that stopped until 345, when they start shutting the lifts down. Made for some nice hero snow. Really loved Bullwinkles, a mid mountain bar/ restaurant. Stopped for a break there every afternoon. Great ski trip, we had a lot of fun, but just way too long a ride. If I go again, it will be more than 4 ski days, and will check out Saddleback

  32. 21 runs. No lines. Rode lift solo about a third of the time. Shots of Gunbarrel and Ramrod. Expect this is last non weekday for Gunbarrel as base not deep there and a couple days of rain in forecast. Glad to hear Blue was as empty must have been fun too.

  33. 12 runs in so far this morning and have yet to wait in line. 100% open and all groomed. Now softening up but no bumps yet. Bluebird day. Good call for a holiday that would be super busy elsewhere.
