Lovely sunny morning at Blue. Very good grooming on Razors and that's all I skied. Was firm, fast, and smooth. Sun was shining. JADIP.7 points

This morning, I woke up at 6:30am. Ate some leftover dinner for breakfast. Left my house at 7am and was at the baggage drop at 7:30am. I got there at the same time as the Halifax Thunderbird Lacrosse team was checking in. I listened to their stories from last night in Philly … sounds like they like to have a good time. They’re playing in Vancouver on March 5th next. I had a layover in Toronto and saw my luggage leave the plane but my luggage had other plans. It made its way on a different plane. i packed a carryon but all my ski gear is in my bag that’s definitely not here. Positively? It seems like all ski gear that went from Philly to Toronto to (what’s suppose to be) Vancouver got redirected in transit and is on the next flights. I’m on a shuttle to Vancouver. sounds like they’re going to drop my ski bag off at the hotel around 1am. (Fingers crossed)5 points

Minnewaska SP 2/2722 Last night I was searching for some favorable XCD conditions within day trip distance and was coming up empty when I stumbled on a decent snow report for Minnewaska SF XC trails. After some communication and navigational challenges got on the snow solo around 10:30. Some guidance in the parking lot had me on my way to the Castle rock trail on the skinny NNN setup, great fast snow, bright sun, mid 30’s and a breeze (quite stiff on the return NW exposures). As an intermediate at best classic skier it was cool watching the skater boiz and girlz fly by me. I had never really skate ski’d and worked on it for a while until the ball of my right foot and arch objected , I even passed some little kids lol Such a cool place with endless vistas of cliffs, hills and the mountain (Bearpen?)to the north. Ended up doing almost 9 mi for a great loop, hopefully not the last hurrah.4 points

Fun morning today...Rode the quad exclusively and worked my way east to west then back...Wind really picked up as the day went on and made Tutts a bit of a chore...TCS was pretty slick so only did that once....Even a marbled up Challenge was fun..Only ever waited a few minutes in VIP line at the quad... @enjoralas all of your delicacies were on point today....The cheese steak was delicious...3 points

Up at 0 dark thirty, no big surprise there, to finish packing, shower, egg sangwich, peruse the musings of PASR and make ready for next awesome ski adventure for the upcoming week. Will be off to meet with Slim, Donny, Rick for the ride over to Newark and a straight shot into Bozeman. Looking like a great day to fly and hoping that the airlines think so too. Stay tuned for further updates...2 points

Day 6, solo skiing with groomers in mind since my legs just arent as fresh as they could be. Small crowd to start, which i thought would be the theme of the day. 2 laps on International with some nice fresh cord. A lap on Paradise, then i made the decision to see if East River was cooperating, which it was. I talked with some type of employee on one lift ride that said a groomer hit one of the East River towers Thursday night which caused it to be closed Friday, i saw a groomer toting a welder down to it at one point, and then it was just a little pissed off on Saturday, i think they were able to run it, but not full speed. East River is a nice area, and has some great trees, so of course i couldnt resist. Made the best of the trees, even though it probably wasnt too pretty, but we just dont get to ski decent stuff off trail at Blue enough, so its hard to pass up. Went to eat when the lift lines started getting a little longer then normal at noon, odd thing was, the restaurant was empty. Ran some groomers from the base after lunch, alternating between silver queen and red lady, depending on the line situation. The Teocali lift was down for maintenance the past two days. no big deal, as that lift really doesnt go anywhere i was concerned with, but on the lift ride with the CB employee, who i think was an instructor, eluded to the fact that "maintenance" was code word for "lack of employees". Im not super happy with Vail, i just dont like their business model, and what they are doing to skiing in general. i feel like Vail just wants to show the skiing public who is boss. I like to think Vail has fucked up Crested Butte the least of all its resorts. We will see. I never saw "epic" lines when i was here, but Barb says things have picked up over the past 2 years here.2 points

Anyone trying for an PASR Elk day? I have weekday passes from the Warren Miller film this year that are good after 3/1. I know @enjoralasand @popshave passes so hopefully they're down. Boo needs a 2 week notice so trying to get a date locked. A Monday or Thursday works best for me but can probably make anything work.1 point

Keep your rental receipt and make sure the airline reimburses you. I had the same thing happen to me once in Utah. That was the last time I flew with my boots in a checked bag.1 point

I heard Berkshire East has been picking up a lot of people who used to day trip to Mt. Snow because of Mt. Snow's high day ticket prices and crowds. They added the reservation requirement to the Indy Pass about two weeks ago due to the larger crowds. Glad to see them doing well but it was always a good place to avoid crowds on a weekend. I heard Magic had record crowds on Saturday.1 point

I’m definitely down. Between Monday or Thursday I’d probably vote for a Thursday, and I know Pops would too. Since I’m fat and he’s old, not having it as my 3rd straight ski day would let us get the most out of the one day at Elk.1 point

Saturday night Halifax dominated the wings all game, but the wings staged a comeback towards the end to make it 10-8. However, Halifax held on to earn the W. The wings have 8 games left with 7 on the road1 point

I was there last Tuesday before the rain. Fun place. New owners are making some nice improvements. Are you planning on hitting Berkshire East?1 point

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived in the lower lot at 720am and it was in the low to mid 20s under sunny sky’s. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Dirt Wolf, benM, Enjorales, Pops, Mute, Boo bear, The Real KT, Mixilplix, Bethlehem Ford Guy, Spyder, TP4, VTMark and many others. First run on challenge was decent, second run on challenge was ok and then I watched that run turn to marbles. Main Street was decent with new manmade, I did lazy mile a few times cause the PASRs we’re enjoying it. One quad ride to coming soon and it was slick..slippery and shiny..Paradise was decent and I even smoked a run down nightmare to dreamweaver and it was the mini cookies...not very good. A fun parking lot and Enjorales grilled up various types of sausage, pork loin and even made Philly cheese steaks..Wiz Wit for me..yes made to order. All in all a fun session and I think I even got some color today or at least some Red...hard to believe it’s basically March now..we need to milk the rest of the skison.1 point

Late start arrive 10:45 they got about 8” of fresh but had some FR on top I heard it was heavy yesterday. Today’s cooler temperatures made it perfect. Some nice bumps on Plunge I stayed on the double chair till after 2. I skied Blockbuster quite a few runs . They left a 7’ high whale up top witch I had to appease the little kid in me and go over the top . I lost some Ptex on Twist . It was thin in places but overall a pretty nice day. First picture, trail to the right of the lift is “Freefall” roped off but poachers carved it up.1 point

In the first run I knew I had to turn off my usual wtf meter. I was a guest in a foreign land, they were kind and although their customs seemed strange to me they couldn't be less threatening, the delta was so high at half speed it was nothing but orange cones everywhere. Most are well aware of my love of weird old equipment and it's like no place I've seen. The individual foot snowboards, lots of blades, 220 straight skis but the kicker was this dude. I spotted the zero tail fast, assumed logically he had broken them somehow. Yet his suit was HH and was skiing on a icon pass with his dad who had one of the big super soft soli pow skis for gapers. This was no accident, for some reason this was done on purpose. Was he a raxer from the Alps who got lost ? I maneuvered my way to be the single next to them so I would have time to conduct a thorough investigation. I buttered him up with bs about the day and then went for the kill. This madman bought the skis, picked out bindings and had them mounted then promptly took them home and cut as much tail as humanly possible off with a band saw. He was of the opinion that the tail of the ski was a detriment to skiing and had been doing so since learning as a child. He had been all over with his family, somehow taming big sky/ut/VT on 90cm length skis all up front. I only saw him ski 300ft at like negative pitch but he left a ww1 style trench giving a new definition to tail gunning. It was one of the most and least impressive thing I've seen in snowsports. It's like someone cutting both their legs off to become a better marathon runner.1 point
