Finally made a RAW session last night. Saw @MrsSnowBunSki looking for @mbike-ski and she sounded pissed, but didn't see mbike anywhere. He was probably hiding from the wrath of something he did or didn't do. Still soft serve with lots of sprinkles and chocolate sauce, but felt the beginnings of it starting to firm back up towards the end of the session. ROTN was Barney's, just kept lapping them until the legs fell off. Finally got to witness the new LED lights on Coming Soon. Wish the entire mountain had those lights!5 points

I am not planning to renew Epic next year - I am just explaining why it is worthwhile. I have used my IndyPass more than my Epic this year (largely due to starting to have girls with me full time and only got Indy for them) and am planning on renewing Indy and augmenting it with some kind of triple ticket or frequent skier card or some other deal as well as maybe an Indy Spring card. The only places I ever ski that I can get to in under 2 hrs are Shawnee (90 min) Blue (100 min) Camelback (100 min) JF (110 min). Further places I have day tripped to this year: Roundtop (120) Montage (130); Hunter (160)4 points

I hate that I did it but I bit the bullet and bought the pass last night. I honestly was really on the fence this year. @skiincy didn't want to buy one out of spite. I got a new credit card to go to Dubai with that didn't actually get here in time so I used it to buy the Blue pass which in turn gave me 0% interest and a $200 statement credit. Using the classic Ski 2 Live logic I was able to justify the price of a Blue pass this year because I got a bunch of money off of it buying it this way and also can pay it off whenever I feel like it. Suck it Blue for "Not leaving money on the table". You got me this year but might not have me forever. Their pricing team is on thin ice4 points

Thanks Antman. I'm truly humbled that the members of the pasr community like my posts and pictures. I don't do this for me. I do it for all of you. It's my life's work...and I will continue to provide the best reports that I possibly can so long as I have no one to talk to on a lift and / or do not drop my phone while riding said lift. Thank you. I am honored4 points

What are the odds of you strapping the skis to the back and driving to Blue on your trusty mower? That would be the most Epic/Ikonic entrance possible3 points

Oven is expected to be present. That’s how I plan to cook the crabcakes.3 points

this is what i was planning on bringing rather than actually cook breakfast in the lot. i think i can keep it warm for the ride from my house to Blue, then can be reheated in Emjos oven. FYI - i am planning on a bacon egg dealio, and a french toast thingy. More the better!2 points

If I brought double crust white pizza would people turn up their nose if the inside was a blend of cheese and broccoli? Or should I just go with cheese?2 points

Thats my benchmark as well. if i am going to travel 2 hrs to some resort, it best be for something more than lib, RT, WT...... Greek over those almost any day. i will be interested in seeing if you still drink the Vail kool-aid as much after they announce their 22/23 pricing.2 points

I have seen this article. It is not just Crested Butte experiencing this problem. There is no easy solution. So far they have voted to impose an extra $2500 per year affordable housing fee on people like me who don’t long term rent their homes to locals. I believe it goes into effect this year. They originally wanted $10,000 so I guess it could be worse. But as I have said to friends on this topic many times; I would never long term rent my place because then I couldn’t use it. So it would sit dark when I am not there. The renters go out to dinner, spend money at the mountain, on t-shirts etc. In addition they pay a STR tax, I pay a STR license fee. So there is money going to the town.2 points

No question Blue is the closest mountain to Philly with high speed lifts and over 600' of vertical. That's why they can charge as much as Epic Local. It's a trade off to ski less good and/or less close places locally for access to other Epic destinations. I have found Roundtop.the most appealing PA option on Epic, as there are rarely bug weekend crowds at the Ramrod triple which accesses 600' vert including a couple headwalls (Upper Ramrod and Upper Gunbarrel) as steep or steeper than anything at Blue.2 points

Rode this morning, C1er, BenM and BFG crew in the house. Stiffer frozen cord first thing that was 30% rattle your bones, oddly some of the trails had pockets of 3d snow that was considerably softer but it was probably tough grooming last night. We followed the sun and as it warmed up the snow went to a super nice fast soft serve ice cream. Widow-midway/chute-main was rotd, excellent huck your meet soft snow. Sidewinder too was most excellent down to the turn as the top had baked up nice fast jump off everything snow. Quad only but light crowds of mostly slow skiers so I didn't notice them. We were a bit early on the cut over to soft snow, it was good but my guess is the c1er and those that could ski until later are getting primo corn harvest. Coverage is most excellent, deep across the hill with no spots I saw anywhere. My guess would be anyone thinking about the twilight session would get classic blue super spring skiing.2 points

Sure. It's after all the holidays. What you're not accounting for is flexibility. With a pass, if I decide I want to ski tomorrow, I can, and I don't have to factor in how much it'll cost me. The pass is a sunk cost that I paid last April. I've got my money's worth out of it fourfold based on the fact that a weekend ticket usually hovers around $100, and that's when I usually get to ski.2 points

not surprised. personally, and i get that it's not as easy now with the online only purchases, i'd rather give that pass to a family so that it doesn't evaporate into the ether.2 points

Are you really comparing a pass to Blue to a pass to over 40 mountains? Yes some are worse than Blue (on non crowded days). Others are so far superior to Blue it is barely the same sport.1 point

Im ok with this. I have said it before, i will pay more for the pass provided there are less people on the mountain. real world is this probably wont happen, but its always good to dream. do you think vail will sell the same amount of passes as they did last year, when they announce that pass is gonna be $1000?1 point

I'm going to geek out about economics for a moment and no one will care. So, thanks for letting me vent Average household income doesn't always dictate what people will spend on recreation activities. It's all about the price elasticity. Spending $650 on a ski pass is totally normal in Colorado and Utah. Most PASRs, myself included, have multiple passes but we're not the norm. I think the price jump will scare away the average person and families in Pennsylvania. Instead of average household income ... I'm curious what the average number of days Blue Mountain pass holders get. We know the PASR and 70+ contingent are getting 30+ days. What about everyone else? I'm going to bet that looking at the total population of pass holders, the average person gets 4-6x days a season. Which, if you're someone who skis 4-6x a season -- it makes the price point more of a tipping point and makes something like a Blue Mountain pass more price elastic.1 point

blues SP money train is dunzo. 529 was a great value during the pandemic for people to get out and do something. too big of an increase for people who are casual skiers, remote work diminishing, safe/social distancing activities are an afterthought now. i don't think they'll come even remotely close to selling out of passes. it'll cap at 749 and be available throughout the season.1 point

I thought i read that both of them would show up, and care should be taken to pick the one from 21/22 to hand out first.1 point

PASR people have the community at Blue. For sure. But for non PASRs who drive 4 hours round trip from Philly or New Jersey... I think the price hike (so early) over the past 3-years will deter people. It really tests the price elasticity of the market.1 point

On the snow at 9 with a warm 25° and blue skies. Redeemed the Warren Miller tickets and didn’t even have to pay the $5 for the RFID card like the sign said. Lap on Delaware and then headed to the quad. Worked skier’s left to right hand finishing that side with 3 laps on Tunkhannock. Favorite run was Tunkhannock to Lackawanna Spur which wasn’t groomed. Upper Lackawanna was closed even though they blew on it last night. The firm cord snow makes you feel like a rockstar, especially on Lower Tunkhannock below the lift. No lift lines and ski right on. In for lunch now, Broken Heels and Chippewa Chicken sang before hitting the rest of the trails. No eating if your sitting at the bar, found out first hand.1 point
