Hey! What a great day! It felt like the first day back to school. Hearing about everyone’s summer adventures and milestones. In the AM, the crowd gathered by the quad. This was likely taken around 8:45am. The line wasn’t much longer than what’s shown in this pic. you can see Jeff + rando / 2nd and 3rd chair of more PASRs I was so impressed by how many runs were opened from top to bottom. But while riding up, it’s as expected. Quite bare. I loved Paradise. Later in the morning - Where coming soon & paradise meet - I ran into a gaggle of more PASRs and here are some of them skiing down. You can see Jeff, Mixil and others below. by the end of the day, the clouds opened up and parking lot cracked the inaugural beers of the skison6 points

Hey All, I’m back from another November session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at like 710am..I’m still allowing way to much time for the drive up but all good..gave me time to boot up slow and up the quad for the opening bell. I first skied Freefall and it was firm..and lower paradise was frozen slush with a groomer path on the right side. Paradise was pretty rough and I did a burma run which was a bit better. Back to Freefall a few more times which was still scratchy and paradise which was getting busier. I got spoiled by yesterdays more forgiving conditions and while this morning wasn’t that bad it wasn’t that good even PARidge said 5.5 out of 10. in the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, PARidge, Mute, Ryan, Salty, Nastar Glenn, Harold, Slim, Indiggio, Enjorales, Charles, Pops, Antman and many more. I hungout in the lot a little and had some beer and chips and now at my office logging in yesterdays mail and orders…I received a text on my way home that blue is not open tomorrow probably due to forecasted rain and while I was looking forward to the first ever November sausage sunday, sleeping in tomorrow will be nice as well. Incredible opening weekend. Huge props to blue for being able to open with the amount of terrain they did. Rain stopped yesterday at about 915(?) and was spring conditions for the rest of the morning. So fun. I thought conditions were good today as well. Little scrapped off? Sure. But still able to grab an edge and carve. 10/10 opening weekend. PS @enjoralas, Pops and I got first chair and didn’t have to wait at 830😂5 points

Short of finally getting out to ski, today was nothing to get pumped about. Was strangely reminiscent of closing day conditions and a great reminder as to why I dislike night skiing. Things werent too scrapy/icy but it was a little slushy. Lower paradise was like a mini mogul field. Also, my legs were on fire.5 points

Hey All, I’m back from opening day 2022-23 at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at around 810am and Dirtwolf was already in the house. Also in attendance were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, C1, Schifdawg, PARidgeNancy, Enjorales, Pops, Boo Bear, MBike Mike, Mrs. snowbunski, Nastar Glenn, Indiggio, Mixilplix, Tarpenhead, Slim, Faldo, Charles and many others. i had lift scanning issues and ended up on the fourth quad and into the fog for first run of the season on Coming soon…coverage was outstanding and the snow was decent..firm and soft no cookies. Paradise was even better snow and very nice to be able to open it up a little opening day. Burma had good coverage and was fun as well. I got my pass sorted out let’s hope it works tomorrow. Like many opening days, there was a nice beer drinking contingent in the lot and even chips and it got progressively warmer with the temperature rising through the 40s and into the 50s. There was never any real crowd today probably due to the earlier showers. Tomorrow looks like much nice weather and everything should groom out well Again hats off to the snowmakers on an impressive opening day. I even rode the vista chair once to checkout the top station of the new super summit safari six pack. JADIP4 points

Real nice day at Hunter. Made it door to door in 2:35 (Blue takes at least 1:40). Lines were close to non existent so I got in 15 runs in 3hrs and 45 min. No bare or icy spots. Belt Parkway stayed firm but carveable all day. Hellgate was a little softer and pretty ideal. Minya had some soft natural bumps at the top and left felt like spring skiing by 11 as it gets the most early sub. Overlookbwas less fun with big hard cookies and turns out ESDrive was not open despite being reported as open. Probably the best day of November skiing I have had. No pix - y'all know what Hunter looks like.2 points

today wasnt quite as nice as yesterday, but happy to be skiing this weekend, and really happy to be in the Valley for opening, so i will give Blue a break for closing tomorrow. im gonna bet they didnt sell a ton of day passes either day. it didnt seem like the usual crowded opening weekend, but maybe its just because they opened with more terrain, and more lift capacity.2 points

Nothing in particular, Thoughts of Vermont, and Utah as always. Retirement is a focus now, then trips. Motorcycle touring more than anything.2 points

Paradise was remarkably trashy today, especially in the early morning. But the almost-2-mile-trail was actually rather good. I never enjoyed Burma because it's typically full of slow skiers and degrades quickly, but today it was niiiice. Firm, smooth and fast. And you could ski Connector not fearing that someone would cut you from the left. The most bizarre thing today were clocks. The one on the lodge one hour behind, the one on the quad one hour ahead. It was very tiring to count down 90 mins of skiing.1 point

Atomic, Dirtwolf, Dan and a snowboarder that I didn't know I think made chair 1? Not sure. I had pass issues like Doug and ended up getting chair 4 or 5 with him.1 point

Best opening day ever and it's not even close. It's November...day 1, and there's a ridiculous amount of terrain open with three long runs from the top open (including coming soon), 2 high speed lifts running, not at all crowded with 0 lift lines to speak of, great conditions (no cookies) and we parked in the valley...again on day freaking 1. I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real. Great day! Major props to blue and great seeing everyone today!1 point

#epicpass did me dirty today! Lol I wanted to stop somewhere and ski on my drive to Marble. Thinking over my options I imagined long lift lines everywhere. Since I was solo, I just wanted to do some laps. Then it hit me; Beaver Creek! Nobody does day trips from the front range. I checked their website and they had 2 high speed quads running, perfect! As I passed the exits for WP and Copper I was patting myself on the back for such a smart decision on my part. I was at BC one time 10 years ago, I forgot how fancy it is. Pull up to the gated community it is and ask the attendant to direct me to the free parking. She informs me there is no free parking at Beaver Creek, of course there isn’t. My options are a $10 lot near the gate I have to shuttle from, or for $5 more I can park in the garage at the base. No brainer. Getting ready I think how fast a person could get soft booting up in a heated garage. I emerge at the base to find plenty of people in fancy ski outfits sitting around fireplaces drinking hot totties. Nobody seems to be on the snow, again, perfect. I go inside to have my epic pass printed and the guy says my pass is restricted. When he sees my confused face he elaborates further, it is a blackout holiday and I only have the epic local pass. Never would I have thought to check the website that a day in Nov would be blacked out. I felt like a complete dope. Out of principal I could not buy a day ticket so off I went. Hopefully I can hit it on my way back to Boulder.0 points

FYI... Blue is closed tomorrow, just so you know. There's a sign on the doors. Strange that there's nothing posted on social media though.0 points

Grate report!!! I SUJOPO'd to this 3 times today. My favorite parts were when you got your pass sorted out, when you rode the vista chair, and when there was a beer drinking contingent in the lot. I looked up the definition of "contingent" and it says "a group of people united by some common feature, forming part of a larger group". So this means the beer drinking contingent is one group, and the Yoo-Hoo drinking contingent is a separate group. Sick!0 points
